Premium Member When I stumbled upon Alice's hole
When I stumbled upon Alice's hole,
I felt an overwhelming joy envelop my soul.
With little fear of harm or peril,
I could now crawl into the tale of Lewis Carroll,
and be an eyewitness to that fantastical rigmarole.

Premium Member Nancy Carroll an Actress
Nancy was one pretty flapper, even if it was pretend
The photographer loved her photo the best to the end.
Nancy Carroll, an actress and model he fell for right away.
He kept her photo on his mantle until his very last day....

Jockerwabby
(With garfidious apologies to Lewis Carroll. :-) )

That Jabberwocky poet sure controppled
A sinterful of words that perkly swoppled.
Though many mukters viewed them all as drivel,
I greath to say they skrayed a lot of grivel....

Time After Time
Time after Time
Be my Valentine
Barely in time
As Feb. 1st chimes
Delayed lines
To celebrate
Valentine's
Fourteen times
This month in rhymes
For my Wendoline's
Love Prime time:
Do throw in a line ...
Won't you, Clement and Clementine
Carroll and Caroline
Ciao: it's past my bedtime...

Premium Member Dali the Lewis Carroll of Artists
Salvador Dali’s work makes me smile, sometimes laugh even.
It uplifts me, makes me feel happy, brings joy.
He was more daring at his heyday than any artist ever.
His risk taking ability has opened up the realm of possibility for others.
He was the Lewis Carroll/Edgar Allen Poe of artists if you ask me....

Wrinkle

Wending through time's wrinkle
With a wink and a smile
Warped and slightly askew
Wandering rabbit holes
Winds blow just off-kilter
Wardrobe, witch and lion
Whimsical fantasies

Dedicated to C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L'Engle and Lewis Carroll

Martin Balsam
(DEDICATED TO MARTIN BALSAM WHO DIED FEBRUARY 13, 1996.)

You starred in Psycho as Mister Arbogast.
You were a great actor in the past.
You starred in Archie Bunker's place with Carroll O'Connor.
When other actors worked with you, it was indeed an honor.
When you died, it was something that people would regret.
The contribution that you made is something that nobody will forget....

Premium Member If That Is Carrot Tea
Carroll is hypnotizing his students is what I hear
From Tweedly Dee or Tweedly Dum, not quite clear.
I began backing away from the portal of course.
Not needing any friction from this imaginative Norse.

Alice is on board, as is the mad hatter.
Are you sure? Well, this was kind of the chatter.
Did not know what to make of this, so drank orange tea.
Hey! Yelled the white rabbit, if that is carrot, save some for me!...

Premium Member Bookshelf
a home for stories
blankets of dust on some
the likes of Carroll, Poe, and Hemingway
all within reach of twelve year old me
whose feet were planted squarely
whose mind was planted elsewhere
in my room just down the hall
from the loving demons of our past

these travels along literary highways
by fingers that struggled with the logic
behind cleaning your room every day
came to bare in places like
Aesop's Fables and The Raven...

I Speak Jabberwocky For Fun
I speak jabberwocky for fun,
on occasion making up a silly word,
something strange and never heard .

A way to step into a make-believe world,
keeping secret codes within my mind,
they are a challenge to look up and find.

Throwing a curve ball to all readers
as Lewis Carroll wrote in his poem,
words covered with meaningless foam.

A spray of mysticism and delight,
paving the way to an unreal world
where language is tossed and sworld....

Marriage of Kisses
Her kisses revived me
frozen and forgotten
then I felt the pulse
of her heart
and the magical flavor
of her lips
in the morning we made love
such a clever way
she works her sorcery...

Her soul seduced me
we fled into the enchanted forest
of erotic fantasies
she became my queen
we became happy
alive more than imagination...

I awoke at dawn
with the feeling of being in love
kisses of brown sugar
gave me life

forever and a day....
