The calm before the storm creeps in,
Silence amongst us, speaking its lonely words,
We hear naught, for naught is heard.
The world is standing still holding it's breath
one moment frozen in time
the calm before the storm

First attempt at this form
Need a break from my brain
from the demons clawing
on locked doors.
My depression is like a sinking
ship on still waters,
calm before the storm
Wanting to break free from
This smile I've built
still running deep:
like the calm before the storm:
like glittering veins of fool's gold,
a mirage beneath the desert sun:
friendship, camaraderie,
only politics-deep,
only religion-deep.
The calm before the storm:
the demons are at bay;
if it’s all the same, Lord,
let’s just keep it that way.
I’m going to need your help
so they won’t come to play;
I’m calling on your mercy,
new each and every day.
There never was such a thing as peace.
it simply can never be the norm.
This thing you call ‘peace’ is sadly, not peace at all!
It is simply another ‘calm' …before the storm!!!
(The FragGen. March 2015)
A great saying states there is usually a calm before the storm
How the feeling is frightening when it comes before a full moon
The nighttime storms can at times bring great fear and excitement
Russell Sivey
Somehow, silence speaks more than words.
Sometimes it's peaceful, sometimes it's not.
Sometimes, it's the calm before the storm.
And sometimes, it is the answer to the war.
But silence- it speaks the heaviest words of them all.
the peace that surpasses all understanding
is the knowledge that things will be okay
even though you dont know how
that there is a calm before the storm
a soft blanket to keep you warm
and a galaxy of wonders
waiting to be explored
Poetry
It is our dreams and failures,
It sounds like the rain and thunder,
It looks like the calm before the storm,
It feels like a never-ending rollercoaster,
It makes me feel sick.
thanks to Karen O'Leary for her great writing exercise.
Form:
Its always been the same crucible
,burn the midnight oil,
welcome to the new heap
dig the new shovel
Life in a private nunnery
waiting for euphoria
for someone to offer her a miracle
Like the calm before the storm
Shes so grateful
all awash in the World
On a night so
calm but shadowed,
as the calm begins
the storm,
there’s a hast
of almost glowing,
and a dark
begins to form,
quiet sense appears
to beacon,
as the unsecure
is born,
feel the breeze
of melting silence,
feel the rage until
the dawn.
From out of the womb we are born into a storm.
Like a cacoon emerges a butterfly.
Uncertain of what each day will bring.
We rise and except the offering.
The womb is the calm before the storm.
Where we form and are equipped with whatever we are dealt.
With only one way out.
You will think of me
when your mouths collide,
for your body will become numb.
Her breath will wither
like smoke in the air,
and I will fill your lungs.
Like blood in your mouth
you will taste my lips,
I am the poison on her tongue.
What destroys you
is not our demise,
but the calm before the storm.
Form:
The calm before the storm
remain shapeless
to assume any form
step into the strange
to get a good understanding
of the norm
why be symmetrically perfect
when you can be perfectly deformed
I've been a geek nerd freak
black sheep since I was born
I may not weild any weapons
but my tongue is like a double edge sword
As a cold night slips away
And the new day begins,
Gray clouds move in
With a stillness in the air
- A storm is brewing -
It can be felt in each breath
With more snow on the way
It is what they mean…
By the calm before the storm
All is quiet, nature waits
Maybe, this is how the birds know?
Heidi Sands

And now it feels calm--
the thunder stopped,
the clouds turned blue,
the wind stopped hissing,
and the birds are singing.
It smells like sun and fresh cut grass
it feels like a warming blanket--
like a line of sun rays hitting my skin.
And I find myself smiling again,
laughing at the sky,
smiling at my phone.
But will it last?
It never does.
I’m peaceful a peaceful man by nature,
So I keep my mind in the bosom of my palms,
Therefore I always keep an open mind.
Yet I’m still a character, who lacks awareness
For I am not aware of how I can turn your ignorance to gen
Quite frankly it is not bliss, you cease to think
And lack the empathy to want to change,
It is Evolution Nulled Down
The panicle to the calm before the storm
There is a calm before the storm.
Things are weird after the norm.
You look the same before a change in form.
It all happens so fast.
Paint peels off aging walls.
Something starts before it stalls.
You must answer and then give calls.
Nothing ever really last.
Vice versa.
Rearrange, right now somethings do not change.
For they may stay right or wrong.
But surely not for long.
There is this pause before a storm,
Before the sky take monsterous turn,
While the birds still sing there song,
And kid still laugh and play.
But then the birds stop singing,
And children go inside,
And then the rain begins to fall,
It starts out slow then goes a little faster,
Till it sounds like kettle corn on my roof,
Then I ask myself what happened to the rain calm before the storm.
the silence is surreal
the calm before the storm
a reprieve to be cherished
knowing it won’t last
how I long to prolong
and stretch it
make it linger
have it engulf me
swallow me
to lose myself
in its serenity

In that calm before the storm
tranquility’s bittersweet,
though, no two tantrums are alike,
nature self-defends;
Never staid,
she rides her tides hanging ten
and reaps her reward.
The prize is not always golden
but the fight is necessary.
The wandering breeze locates her
opponents and she’ll throw down
the gauntlet;
accepting the challenge,
we weather the storm.
It's one of those things
You can't get over
It the calm before the storm
When it finally hits, it stings
One too many things you replay over and over
The pain worn like a uniform
When u see the signs of infidelity
Love making detours
Redirects you leave your mind questioning u
The fears leave no clarity
Unsure a little insecure
But somehow fear gives u a reason to ignore
Sounds of Silence.
Silence is eerie and kind of scary,
And around us is nothing,
The air is still,
No wind whispering through the trees
Just the sound of silence.
The Sound of Silence,
What is to come?
Is it the calm before the storm
Or is it just in our mind
I wait with anticipation,
and wondrous adoration
At the thought of peace forever more,
because the sound of silence has stopped the War.
Form:
The wind calls your name
Dark clouds on the plain
Gusty wind in my heart
Blowing us apart
Is it going to rain?
Can you feel my pain?
Is it going to rain?
I think I’m going insane?
Tell me is it going rain?
Calm before the storm
Chance upon a breeze
Whisper in the night
I want to hold you tight?
I can feel the weather
In my bones
It’s telling me
I’ll be alone
Tell me is it going to rain?
Tell me can you feel my pain?
