Dinner Guest By Phone

Mister Galloway,
unknown caller of the day,
with your late hour political question,
why do you insist on disrupting digestion?

Let Freedom Ring

The thing about Caller ID
Its as honest as Trump can be
No one gives a damn
If it is a scam
Where liars and cheaters run free

The Scam

The caller tried to pull a quick scam
The lady shouted, oh yes, ma’am
Called her card numbers out
Gave them a phony route
T’was the numbers stuck on her pork ham

Home Phone

Surely you must know
that when my home phone rings
And my message warm and welcoming
 Or stern, stiff and abrupt
that if caller id fails to recognize you
I won't pick up!

The Telephone

ring
just one
then silence
Wheels start turning
Just a wrong number?
Just a quick second thought?
Or was the caller cut off?
A nylon cord around his throat?
A razor thrust through the jugular?
It’s 1:00 a.m. I check doors and windows

Unknown Caller

Amber alerts light up my phone;
tornado warnings jar the mind.
But lately from a source unknown:
a notice of another kind.

There's grave concern for potted meat;
I wonder if they'll stop and frisk.
It really has me curious:
what's up with spam, and what's the risk?

Wayne Weigh-In

If you heard a Soup Censor holler
They just saw a Cook Islands dollar
Allowing for windage
That Tiki appendage*
Could incite a 9-1-1 caller!

* Gershon-approved, i.e., circumcised
Is that sufficient evidence
the Lost Tribes of Israel
were on a Cook-out?

Bittter Litter Quitter

Bittter Litter Quitter

He had been known as being bitter,
After they looked at all of the litter;
Loosely laying;
Some straying;
Started a rage caller Litter Quitter.

As We Journey

Please listen to Me
God's own
Never stood alone
Respected
Protected
A Holy Man
Held up by God's hands
Washed clean
Blessed rivene
Mankind
Bless the times
Divinity
Clarity
My heart conceived
Who believes
I bow to your honor
Heavenly Father
Answered caller
Your faithful follower

Patrick O'Grady

The name is
Patrick O'Grady
Broad shoulders
A great man of structure
Granite chin
Hailing from
Green Irish Stock
Chairman of the board
Distinguish model citizen
Firmly rooted
In this
Green clover town
Well, I am
The real slim shady
Hello, next caller
On the line
Are you
A real
Lady

Great Idea

This is a great idea, tee hee,
Good suggestions are so me,
Nuisance caller was asking me,
Money for her fundraising committee,
"Right," said little old chirpy me,
"You can send cheques to me,
We need funds here desperately!"
I must say, sensitively,
Great ideas are so me,
Nuisance caller hung up on me!

My Love

Alta Luna,
my gentleman caller in the night
Ahhhh, yes
He’s making eyes at me
Sending showers of midnight winks
that melt the stars into my eyes
Tall and handsome
perfect to lean my ladder up against
And climb up to Mi Amor
Let me in
and let me kiss you
Good Night

Save the Light

Do you hear the sound
The sound of light's resound
The brightness of that light
The wonder in its flight

Can you see the color
With the triumph of a caller
As it echoes through the sky
And trails beauty ever by

What splendor does it hold
As it floats through times of old
Into the hearts of we
Who remember what we see

Nameless Pond

A nameless pond is drying up
lily is showing off her green wooden leg
extending a green cup toward the clouds
green glass frogs are chanting in the shallows
a square dance caller flashes a red bow tie
red eared sliders turn the potter's wheel
around a muddy dime.
Death square dances with life
in the middle of this nameless pond.

Bingo Ode To a Nursing Home

I thought I'd seen it all before
What else could life now have in store
She called the game at half past three
The patients stared
Some stared at me
Cards were laid out nice and neat
All waited for the late day treat
The caller let the numbers flow
Her pace, of course, was very slow
Finally a hand went up
A quarter in the winner's cup

What Is a Poet

What is a Poet?

A singer of songs, a caller of warnings;
A crier of tears, a laugher, a weeper.
Lover of life; of nature, of God;
One set apart; scoffed at and shunned.
Sufferer of numberless maladies.
A poet spreads his soul;
Rampant over white paper;

To be wondered at and mocked.
To incite passion, tears, and smiles.

To expound truth and create beauty.

Easily She Weeps

I wonder why the willow weeps.
What sadness does she know?
I wonder if she sadly sleeps
As she dreams of long ago?
Could the winter be the reason,
For a willow likes the spring?
Yet regardless of the season
I suspect a different thing.
For once a caller stayed awhile,
And still the fire keeps--
Since then she finds it hard to smile,
But easily she weeps!

Dee Is Wooed By Lee

Dee was the kind of a bunny who wanted romantic love.
Her gentleman caller was sent from somewhere way up above.
Lee was polite, smart, dapper, and he brought carrots so sweet.
His polite manners, and daily kindnesses were a welcome treat.
She felt horrible when he told her that he was moving to Kalamazoo.
Until he said “Of course, you are coming, for I am marrying you.”

Planted Snakes

"The planted snakes are venomous!"
Warned q caller anonymous
"Anaconda size enormous!"
Their state with Death synonymous
Thus, price to pay not enormous...

And decision unanimous:
All pleas for ' Mercy Blasphemous',
None to try The Eponymous

Named he had Twelve Thousand Dollars,
Necks causing to wet starched collars

Planted snakes for easy money:
When cops soon breezed in, not funny

Some One Knocks

Some one knocks my
Hearts door by a call.
I succumbed to find out the
Caller is a light,
Some brightness entering
My heart,always trying to stay,
But marred by dim darkness.
Great bright light,
Dim darkness,
Knocking at my heart's door.
Always in a wrestle,
One must enter and stay,
My heart's door,
I must open for the
Great bright light to stay.
Stay,and make me bright
All the days of my graceful
life.
