The Telephone

ring just one then silence Wheels start turning Just a wrong number? Just a quick second thought? Or was the caller cut off? A nylon cord around his throat? A razor thrust through the jugular? It’s 1:00 a.m. I check doors and windows

Sometimes it is not good to over think a situation.. I got a chuckle and a scare in one work..I have read "The Call Of The Wild"...Was that made into a movie? I may have seen the movie..I will have to put it on my list of books to read..Thanks for the kind review of my work...Sara

there was an old time radio show on suspense called wrong Number, starting Anges Moorehead, this reminded me of this piece of very fine creative poetry.

Oh, I hate getting calls like that, Daver! Now I dial *69, but often the last caller can't be reached.:( Might have been someone who'd realized they'd dialed the wrong number? Still, can be so disconcerting.:( One of my sons will call for me to pick him up if he'd been drinking. One ring, would drive me around the bend! Can think of better things to occupy our imagination. Hoping and wishing the best to you all!! Love, Mikki

Dear spooky friend, you really had me spellbound in this poem. I often wonder what happened when a phone rings only once. Usually I dial *69 and trace the number on the internet. At 1 a.m., however, I might be inclined to check the doors and windows! Remember the radio play, "Sorry, Wrong Number"? Love, Carolyn
