Lone Buzzard

lone buzzard drifting along steady wind currents locates fresh roadkill

Buzzard's Roost

A buzzard circles slowly
gliding across the
forest, his
home

The sun shines shadows
rolling across these
fatigued hills
forever

Tasty Road Kill

moist raccoon remnants
freshly murdered this morning
by a passing car

wild knows wild
a turkey buzzards sweet feast
tasty road kill stew

Buzzards and Flamingos

There was an old Buzzard name Bill
He was perched in tree on a hill
When he saw his friend Ringo
A tall pink Flamingo
Become the next messy road kill

fowl alarm

falcon
hawk
vulture
eagle?

no matter
rooster sounds the alarm
chickens scatter
clucking up a storm

uh-oh
I note the red head
turkey buzzard
something is dead

Spotting the Turkey Buzzards

why are vultures in the road today?
red necks are completely ugly
devouring their carrion
they give me the willies
red turkey buzzards
road kill dessert
good bye mole
tasty
food

Broken Nose Mc Ghee

At the tight end of a rope,
tied on a scraggly oak.
Rode Broken Nose Mc Ghee,
a known cattle thief.

With a crack of a whip,
The hangman's knot gripped.
Swinging buzzard feed,
Was Broken Nose Mc Ghee.

Buzzard Gets His Lunch

teeny tiny field mouse did not have a chance there
eagle-eyed red headed buzzard spotted him from the air
swooped down, then took mouse up to fifteen thousand feet
making him into a squirming wiggly tasty treat

Buzzard Fart

They dip into ur mess
2 add 2 the stress
The ones that they caused
Because of their flaws
They're afraid 2 admit
Because they know the natural hit
The hit that'll bring the truth
That'll restore their youth!

Drop Dead Gorgeous

flamingo boa
                                 buzzard with a fashion knack
                                      pink is the new black

The New and Improved Normal

The locusts yet screech after dawn
While the buzzard cackles from his perch
The red sun's inflamed in the morn
   Snarled traffic pauses to lurch...

Staring into the abyss of an angry rush hour
~ Workers from home take a shower

The Buzzard

Buzzard drifting high among the clouds Little effort, it seems, propelling him in circles Wondering what he can see far below I’ve always been told something has died~~ A plausible explanation.

Anxiety, the Loathing

Stop!
The madness croons
The crushing nothingness of it

Silence!
The buzzard squelchs
The razor wire of loathing emptiness

Cease!
The apprehension glances
The acquittal of the hostage

Expire!
The rising spirit
The bloodied field deserted

Out On the Porch December 4 2011

Heavy frost, below freezing tempertures
Have denuded some trees
The pale pink running roses frozen sure
No longer the flutter or buzz of bees
Winter winds only thing to endure
Heavy over hanging clouds dampness
A lone buzzard flies
Irony spring buds adorn trees...

they do not want money

Airmail via turkey buzzard, why not? Someone didst ask.
They are so ugly with their posteriors awful, decreed Cousin Mask.
But they can fly, so they avoid the traffic, which puts them in a great mood.
And best of all, they do not want money, all they want is fresh bloody food.

Vacation Downtown

  The noise and the grime
    the mushrooming crime
  junkies and beggars abound

  Strange folks in your face
steal your car, spray some mace
Who wants to vacation downtown ...

  This year I'll cede culture
    to the buzzard and vulture
as in soft meadows I lie

A Monikuhikuquatsequ

in the midst of death-
                                  lichens come to life
    (moniku)

this summer morning-

azalea perfume hints

& yellows the lawn

   (hiku)

with buzzard on high
o'er fields prairie dry
walnut ripen in husks
the afternoon turns to dusk

The Dead Tree

There was a buzzard who lived in a tree
Behind the medical shop, cute was he
Surveying our town
Such a funny clown
No, just dead limb the highest one you see

Two old people totally mistaken
No way this bird will eat any bacon
For it's not a bird
Just our vision blurred
Figure it out, yes, we are so shaken

Tanka For the Birds

He soars to the sky;
a lady bird is watching,
so while plummeting,
he twists magnificently;
not quite an “old” buzzard yet

Tall necks upward stretch.
Long slender legs start to move.
Synchronization
is the flamingo’s tune when
the beach becomes a dance floor.

Grief Is a Poison

Grief is a poison
Invading my soul
Trying to consume me
Like a buzzard
Pecking away at my flesh
Like a fire
Burning out of control

Grief is a poison
Encompassing my life
Gripping my heart
Slowly tearing it apart

Grief is a poison
That I must endure
It is the price I must pay
For having loved you
Death has taken you
I submit to this poison

Who Was the Old Buzzard Trying To Court

The elderly root went a court’n today
I saw him with a heart, as he went on his way
I wondered who he was going to try to seduce.
Could it be the old Tony Twins? They were way out of juice.

He tipped his hat and gave me a wink.
I know my face turned incredibly pink.
How do you do, you adorable sweet pea!
My goodness! This old buzzard was trying to court me!

A Triad of Haiku V

A leaf detaches

From some resplendent, green twig.

All Summer shudders!
-------------------------------------

The wind calling out,

Like a high, mewing buzzard,

Behind nearby hills.
-------------------------------------

Winter came around...

Slipping in beneath the door

As I lit the fire.

Soar

I watch the buzzard soar
Not a wing beat for a mile or more

Majestic in natural flight
A call that owns the skies

A carrion hunter it’s true
Living on a knife edge unlike me and you

Each day prey has to be found
Each day survival hard is bound

I watch the buzzard soar
It amazes each time the more

As much of nature as you or I
Majestic raptor soaring through the sky.

Wet Leaves

Wet leaves and wet trees,
Brushed by with Wet knees.
The fragrant nose of grass and moss,
Emanates the forest gentle and soft.

As the mist ascends heaven bound
Caught by breezes blowing
It mingles a while with crow and buzzard
Before leaving unknowing
Like the stranger at a party
The people fail to see.
Who disappears without notice
And ungarnered sympothy.

Now Wet Tears on Wet Leaves

Garbage Men

Trailing steel cans
and rolling out their
long rags.

The morning is a frost
broken in clamorous relief.

Frayed holes in their eaten
gloves carry a crushed chore,
a rotted job bundled in skins
of wet plastics.

They emerge from a deep
hidden hour
riding the back jaws
of neglected mammoths.

A storm hammers
in the scrape of their tongues.

The dogs lunge
for their voices.

They remove what lingers too long
from our past.
