The New and Improved Normal

The locusts yet screech after dawn While the buzzard cackles from his perch The red sun's inflamed in the morn Snarled traffic pauses to lurch... Staring into the abyss of an angry rush hour ~ Workers from home take a shower

Oh how we’re all hot behind these masks! Started curbside at library today. Threw myself into the shower when I got home! Blessings!

Is there still an angry rush hour in Chicago? I thought maybe that was over. Smirk. Smirk. Great poem.

Seriously, right now 'rush hour' is a breeze! Not much traffic to and from downtown as most 'information workers' work from home. I go down there twice a week, driving my son to and from work, and it's an absolute pleasure. Feels like the Wisconsin Dells by Lake Michigan... Not for much longer, I'm afraid... Oh, well! :) gw

GW, We in India are literally facing the locust attack in states adjoining desert areas. Lovely imagery to capture new normal in current times. Best. Mohan

Are the skies blackening in India? How about the vegetation? Those things are, indeed, a plague. Thanks for the informative comment. Always appreciated, Gershon

G'day Gershon … it is going to be interesting to see what this new normal will be like. I can't imagine traffic snarls won't return - thanks Gershon - Lindsay

Nothing like that snarling traffic. Do I NOT miss that. Driving to and from downtown Chicago is a breeze now... I imagine you're right though, Lindsay: This breeze will probably blow away soon. Thanks, Gershon

The imagery of the locusts and buzzards show the predatory heat stalking the city, evokes the heat wave vividly, gw!
