Those eyes that connect beyond the story
That capture so strongly
Even in black and white the sparks are felt
And consolidate Bogey Bacall love...

Chap From Calcutta
There was an old chap from Calcutta,
Who bought a new wood as a putter.
‘A bogey?’ he coughed.
‘This green isn’t soft -’
And swallowed a ball in mid-splutter.

For Craig’s Golf limerick contest, 31st March...

Hunting For Birdies
I wouldn't mind par

but I'd prefer a birdie

anything but one, double, or

triple bogey.

Eagles are too high for my aim

but I still love this game.

After the eighteenth I'll

have a drink at the bar

and let my mind soar....

Premium Member afraid of my closet
My co-workers gave me money to buy clothes
I am speechless; they think I only own two shirts
They do not know I have a closet full of stuff
But that closet is bulging and there is a bogey man in it
That’s why I keep wearing these two shirts...

Lock Down
The bogey man is here
Uncle Gunnysack
No longer hiding in English peat bogs
The Bag Man who carries a bag and kidnaps those who don't behave

Do you hear him knocking
Why don’t you want to go to bed
He will take you away if you wont obey your parents
He will pull you up into tiny holes in the ceiling

A siren will sound when all is safe...

When it comes to golf, I am such a sap. I hate it whenever my ball is in a sand trap. It’s bad enough when I either hook or slice. I am aware that my swing does not look nice. How I would like to shave points off my game. What I do out on the course will bring me shame. The word I hate most is “bogey”. I don’t want to hear it when it is said around me.

Premium Member Tea Party For Three
There is a party for three with a whoop and a whee
We sit high above most in a bogey woogie banyon tree
The tea is orange plus lemon with a shot of pistachio
They devour it eagerly, three ladybugs with dots that glow

Best tea I have ever drank says one!
I agree says third cousin on his wife’s side, Mr. Fun.
Is this Des Moines tea? Asks the third lady bug man.
Don’t know but it is tasty straight out of the can....

Thinking I knew you from your smile
you wormed your way in with guile
my bete noire*, my bogey man
long of tooth and without a clan
I let you in, a worm with style.

le grand faux pas*, angel vile,
seeming weak, yet, so versatile.
Hobgoblin of dread, bogey man
Thinking I knew

Shrink back now into your defile
of sagging skin and toothy smile.
But, I have seen a reviled hand
and my open heart still here stands
wishing sweetness all the while
Thinking I knew...
