Winter Song

Snow laced branches silent without birdsong.
Frosted ears that can't hear spring.
Frozen winter music.

birdsong chorus
greets the rising crimson sun
joined by cock's crow
grey clouds line the horizon

Birdsong

the winter winds melt into the swollen
rivers as she releases tender
children in a flourish of bird
song and the first breath of spring

The Woodlands

hey there, poor, loud lost lout
before you stomp these woodlands
trample these wildflowers
use earbuds to block birdsong
thank the fairies or be cursed

Like an addled cuckoo that garbles
the birdsong that he warbles,
I've experienced many strains.
I've got gremlins in my brains,
and I've lost my marbles.

Morning path unfolds, dew trembling on quiet leaves~ the world newly born. Birdsong threads the waking air, and my breath walks with the light.

Between sips of Julep
birdsong wafts in the air;
busy bees and countless
butterflies abound on
blossoms of buddleia.
But me? I fall into
blissful torpid languor.

One fine summer in Westfield

Birdsong
And the leaves of grass
Make their own music
As the bubbling rill
Warbles it's way
Lawns hum their busy state
And butterflies add their flutter

Rainbow Light

Shafts of rainbow light
Poke through the surrounding trees,
The snow underfoot,
Just birdsong breaks the silence,
The woods fill me with magic.

His Heavenly garden
Seemed a loss –without someone to share--
The birdsong missing was, he thought, the
Lack of nagging in his ear.

I Really Heard A Bird This January Morning - Cinqku - Cinquain

birdsong
morning eyes
coming back slow
the air still sings stillbirth
sinews

vocal
but window's dead
no more looking today
there blurs in her wings my song's lines

Singing Alone

Birdsong gets lonely
but it never gives up
unless there's a storm overhead,
or a cat on the prowl.
Then when it's all clear
they sing up their own storm,
make a big fuss
of being lonely again.

Rainfall Sanctuary

A pale grey sky
lush green forest
the rain falls soft and fast
pattering on leaves and rocks
birdsong echoes sweetly
the air is cool and light
peaceful, timeless
sanctuary
