the words
tumbled forth
like a waterfall
over a steep cliff
and when they
hit bottom
as words inevitably
will
they did handsprings
backflips
somersaults
and kept on
laughing

Mottled black and white rooster stood proud on his sled
Can he do handstands and back flips? Asked his cousin Ned.
He could but he won’t, his sister, a rule stickler said.
The rooster listened to all of these expectations with dread.

The moon glowed bright,
Under the sparkling sky.
Ocean made big waves.
Dolphins did backflips,
Fish swam in pools,
As the wind whistled.

Free verse
Lately, in my dreams
I'm doing backflips
On trampolines
Vaulting higher than high
Bouncing off
The springy sky
Free from gravity
Of worry
As the ground
Falls off my feet
I careen
To the beat
Of tambourines
Tail lashing
Lavender flashing
Pom-pom sized
Orange eyes
I'm as free
As I want to be
Lately, in my dreams.

Petals in the wind
Gusting through the trees
Landing in the grasses
Mid the flowers and the bees
Petals in the wind
Dancing all around
Flitting through the belfry
Far above the distant ground
Petals in the wind
Petals in my hair
Somersaults and backflips
Filling up the scented air
Petals in the wind
Petals on the sand
Petals shifting, changing
Forming patterns that are grand

Drawn to a pair of silent shouting lips;
A taste of dandelions, she is Spring;
Electrified by two such stoic eyes,
her weather tends to do a few backflips;
Mood swings that feel like a honeybee sting,
Sun showers shine light in her foggy skies;
The path of the seasons comes full circle,
green hues of her eyes the freeze collapsing;
Ir’s all in her nature one would surmise;
Every color in bloom a wonderful
surprise.

Curtal Sonnet
• Backed onto a wall
• Lips together
• Unattentive to the stormy weather
• Spending hours in the room
• Sweeping her away like a broom
• Muttering sweet nothings in-between breaths
• My heart doing backflips in my chest
• I used to worry if I cause her stress
• I can finally put that thought to rest
• She showers me with compliments
• That trump any doubt
• We're back at it again and things get dark
• "Oh hey, the lights went out!"
