Fearing Her Essence

Her camo fatigues
Set a particular mood
Scare potential dates

Honoring herself
She apologizes naught
She lives her best truth

Others back away
Afraid of her awesomeness
Fearing her essence

Infatuation

You come into my space.
I don’t back away.

I sink into you,
without you knowing.

We both linger on,
searching something to say.

Cheeks heated.

Faces glowing…

As……

time………

starts…………

slowing………………

Condemnation

I look at you in stark disgust
My 'gift' to you my lack of trust
In bitter taste of ash and dust
I ask you back away

In you a mirror's all I see
Returns the message back to me
A prison door without a key that
Blocks the light of day

4am

It seems as if the waves
We kept closed away,
The ones from which we
Turned our back away,
Have unleashed
And are rushing towards us.

How can you escape something
You don’t know how to deal with?
I can’t say anything,
Rushes of water filling my mouth.

I Do Not Even Like These People

I spy the usual overly animated party goers
Their finery makes me suddenly remember
I back away from the keyhole so others can enter
my heart leaps with happiness as I turn away
hoping the boss will not catch me before I reach the street
office Christmas parties are the worst kind of torture

Animal

I felt like I had to cower,
like I was some sort of dog.
Tail between my legs
couldn't see through your fog.

Was hit on the nose,
had to back away.
Wanted to be near,
didn't want me to stay.

I tried to be loyal,
wouldn't leave your side.
Your cruelty toward me,
I can no longer hide.

My Rose

Mess with my Rose
Risk a busted nose
Cause everyone knows,
When it's about love,
It always shows

Don't mess with me
Or risk a busted knee,
Think I'm blind?
Well, I see!!

Better off, back away,
Take your trouble
To some other day
And some other shore,
Or you might wind up
Really sore!

Last Hope

Our lips part, tender,

You back away and smile ...

 An odd, almost painful smile,

Eyes swimming with an emotion ... undefined.

Squeezing my hand once with your knitted glove,

You turn, and walk away into the night's tears -

So much for the sway ...

Of a kiss.

A Thought At Daybreak

A thought at daybreak

These come
as sunrise or memory
or hurricane
from where we know not
seemingly from out there
in this or that locality..
We back away..
We do know that
a thought
merely passes through
and very soon departs..
In passing it colors
what we recognize as
I am here and now...

This Advice Could Save Your Life

tiger with frying pan hands
seems innocent enough
but
don’t tickle the tiger
handle him
rough

stay
at the tail end
impress
with force

smack him hard
and back away
         smile
only after
you get back home
a million miles
      away
where you can
   safely
show off your bravery

Charged

Back away if you want silence;
Loud! I'm louder than the
loudest clap of thunder
Fiery lightening lights up the
sky;
 A shield
The storm my protective cover.
Back away if you want calm,
Charged! I'm filled with the
energy
Of this electric storm
The power ringing in the air
My shield Singed
I am charged, I stand strong.

Way To Your Heart

A face across the room
Watching each move you make
Slip out the door
Footsteps echoing off the wall
Two pairs of feet thump thumping on the ground
Searching out a quiet place
Pass through the doorway
Two beings inside a room
A lock clicks in place
stepping closer
you back away
from a sleeve a knife is pulled
Now standing proud in your chest

Through I Walk

Through ' I walk through
The mist of trouble
You stretch out

Your hand against
The anger of foes,

But I' refuse to
Take hold.
Slowly" I pull

Back away from
You for 'I see a
Crippled heart

Inside of your
Mind
So close

Such a sweet
Broken soul
Through 'I walk

Through the mist
Of trouble
To ends of sea
A farewell to thee..

Suds

The large, enameled sink
eats her red knuckles.
Mum bent to
her silent threadbare work.

I have new long pants,
I worship their long-ness,
how they stretch my young body
into an imaginary manhood.

Mum threatens to wash them soon,
I back away as her laboring ribs
speak.

My lips
make the shocked shape of 'why'!

Her hands keep thrashing suds.

Rain

Rain, wet, cold, tiny little molecules, almost shaped like tagpoles, clear, yet shades of blue, pelting down as if almost new, breathtaking from the grey smoking chimney view, roaring winds sweep through the rear choking smog, enchanting, yet behold misery, frustration, panic, eagerness run through, back away, back away, from your rear window in situ.

True?

she says she understands.
that she knows. shes been there.
i want something to happen.
but everytime we get close.
everytime he wraps his arms around me.
and finnaly leans in.
it just messes up.
and i back away.
even if i could stay there forever.
that it was the safest place i could EVER be.
and that it was the most important thing.
and that i cant take not having him anymore.

The Line

Do not cross that line.
Go right to the edge,
back away
survive to draw another line
another day.

Sand is unreliable,
it shifts perspective
makes lines squiggle,
disappear
come back red with blood.

Every blustery vortex
has an invisible line
that runs through it,
an ancient dragon drew that line

and it is still waiting and watching
for you to step blindly
over it.

I Love You

You say " I love you"
but do you really mean it?
do you actually feel in your heart that we should be?
or are you a fraud
trying to break my fragile heart
i don't know what to believe
should i take you word or
should i back away in fear?
So when you say "I love you"
please mean it my heart cannot stand the torment and pain
then perhaps one day if you really mean it
I will say it back to you

The Emperor of Our Fairytales

The Emperor
hath donned a gewgaw crown,
bedazzled are the throng.

He rides an electric horse.
Strides through the pitiless cities
of lost or last hopes.
His faceless glance
not even a mask,
but a cold premonition
an iron mind
behind bolt-shut eyes.

The crowds back away,
bow and know
they are now subjects,
not even slaves,

only subjects
to be used and disposed of
at the ballot box.

Reaching

Disappointing my friends and family
I disappoint myself

I'm having trouble taking care of me
I feel it in my health

If I was who I claim I am I could turn the other cheek
I must have been wrong

Running away now proves I am week
It's hard to be strong

It doesn't take strength to back away
I haven't given up

When I take a look, it's not so hard to say
There's something in my cup

Do not cross that line.
Go right to the edge,

Sand is unreliable,

makes lines squiggle,
disappear
come back red with blood.

Sail not too close to the wind
that blustery vortex
has an invisible line
that runs through it,
for there be dragons.

Don't cross that line
even if
it's only a thought in your head.

Do not.

Her Hair Blonde

When I gazed into those chocolate-brown eyes

   and saw something newly wonderful

   in her energy;

(such roar!) in her voluptuous volcano

   a brewing tenderness ----

her Man would be ravished in her love,

   faint to find anything else;

But pearl-doves and soft things

   in the hardest of him,

   faint to back away, empty

   but to hold her!

Drifting, in chocolate-brown eyes....

One Step Backwards

To hear that you are gone for good
and never coming back to me,
it breaks my heart and tears my soul;
I wonder why this has to be.

You say you're happy now with him;
I have to back away, I know,
and leave you to enjoy that love,
forget the way I hoped we'd grow.

You left three years ago and I
must carry on...at least, I'll try.

Fears

I am not my fears
But my fears are me
I am not my fears
But my fears have captured me
They have put me in a prison
And locked me in a room
Where I cannot breathe
And feel gloom
How to break fears
Get over past
And become a star
Fears hold you back
Don’t allow them to do like the past
Hold onto fears
Tell them to back away
Just for a moment
Until you can get past
While fears hold a breadth
Plunge in and take a shot

Marking Time

Twilight found me
standing at my window.
Waiting for something new.
The same question in my head.
What is my destiny?
Am I never to be allowed to breath
the sweet scent of Loves flower?
Am I to forever live with the scar
of my one youthful wrong deed.
I can not smile as I back away
from My lonely tower window.
Tomorrow I will send another message
to My Father the King.
But for tonight I will continue to mark time.
