Resolution

When stormy turmoil assails your boat
Desperately struggling to stay afloat
Drop the anchor; sever the chain
Endure on deck; embrace the rain
Proclaim your defiance with opened throat

Lady Onyx

Lady Onyx has curvy, black nails;
so resistance she quickly assails.
She needs no boot spurs;
for nails long like hers
serve as tailor made cat-o-ten tails.

Spring assails our sense
The smell of a pink rose thrills
Strength floods through clouded minds

Eyes behold rebirth
Colors laid on raw canvas
Strength comes with new vision

Seeing life stand proudly
The dew on each blade glistens
Strength swells in tired hearts.

Values warp love intrigue
Vexed liaison unfair
Vetted assails exacts
Volatile edged divorce

Very old forms have eight
Views last two as unrhymed

Crimson skyline, daylight exhales That we may feel contrast Are we calm, as darkness assails Knowing night too won’t last As life hues thus renew Our heart like morning dew Fragrance of love does spew To death resign Crimson skyline 11-November-2021 Quietus

I love you much, Dear - Too much to say well. Wordless love, that smiles From silence; no sound Assails its dark depth. Love's best blooms rise Through quiet space Roots stealing down Around the heart. The fire burns Bright, alone Warm, unseen. Heat flows Light spreads Sighs.

I love you much, Dear
     Too much to say well.
     Wordless love, smiles
     From silence; no sound
     Assails its dark depth.

Love's best blooms rise
Through quiet space
Roots stealing down
Around the heart.

     The fire burns
     Bright, alone
     Warm, unseen.

Heat flows
Light spreads

     Sighs.

What Sort of Sorcery Is This

a phone call
a text
a stroke on my cheek
the way you weep
your sarcastic guile
a cheeky smile
you melt me
unambiguously lay my fear
at your feet
that hat tossed about
your head
your cherub nature
a tarnished sweetness
assails my heart
sorcery, magic, the dark; dark arts
whatever that is
is you
whatever will be
is you

Comfort

You are the warmth of the summer sun
That makes me long for distant shores
On a rainy day

You are the gentle breeze that bathes my face
At the end of winter when spring flowers
Come out to play

You are the magnificence of the elusive moon
That bids farewell to a day of joy
And renders me whole

You are the sweetness of a sculptured rose
Whose fragrance assails my being
And soothes my soul

Premium Member Silence Within

Listen to poem:
what is this silence that assails me goes for my throat and won’t let go? what is this emptiness to the horizon that suffocates as loud as loud can be? searching the sky i wait for night to fall no fanfare or pompous announcement there is no breeze no sound no subtle wave of hand as if all orchestrated for something someone maybe me ?

HURRICANE

whirlwind of the sea ~
ferocious spinning disc
gaining speed and wrath

the hurricane’s eye
with torrential force of tears
~ winds tortuous strength

wild waves warn the coast
with boats crashing into docks
~ only lunes remain

palms are tested as
coconuts plummet like hail
~ storm assails sailboats

Objects settle wind
to lesser tropical storm ~
sea salt soothes the wounds

Love In Perfect Storms

Everyone loves
nectar from honey
moons and the
sweet secretions of
honey sickle stems
But who will love you
when no moons shine
and seas rebuff
sands from your
continent?
When the warmth of
summer winds fade
and coolness assails
the molecular density
of your liquidity,
do candle lit windows
really welcome
torn hearts
into quilted tranquility?
Love of my love,
I pray you rest peacefully,
New moons await
on unwritten horizons

A Kiss Under the Mistletoe

The boss had too much egg nog
at the office party. Oh,
She set her goal to snog
me beneath the mistletoe!

With lecherous intentions
she stalks me ‘cross the floor
until she finally pins me
against the bathroom door!

Her boozy breath assails me.
I very nearly swoon!
Her scarlet nails impale me.
I realize I’m doomed!

The darting of her tongue
leaves me in a daze.
Her kiss, so thick with rum,
I better get a raise!

The Bed

A smell assails my senses
as I awake with a start.
‘Tis the stench of loneliness
which my life did impart.

A light invades my eyes
as the daylight streams brightly in.
I grimace at the earliness of the day,
but it’s past noon to my chagrin.

The lure of the blanket,
calling to climb over my head.
My will has been taken
by the pull of the bed.

Daily are the battles
I wage with my bed.
Real life struggles,
or just foolishness instead?
