Leopoldo Lugones
With a shadow around him,
He was slowly drinking
Whisky and cyanide,
Walking in silence towards his death,
He was watching a river,
Dreaming of becoming a river,
And sleeping like a river-
He reached the shore of his dream
Now he sleeps, without end
With Argentina placed in his breast...

You Made the Best Coffee
I remember how
you'd heat the leche
to make me a cafe con leche.

You'd use that special sock
to strain the grounds
fresh ground!

We'd sit and talk
by the window
watching our "kids" playing
in the back yard.

They'd bark to come in
wanting to share in the aroma
of your special roast
imported from Argentina
just like you!

I miss you, dear.

Premium Member They Fly Back In March
Seagulls from Ontario, Canada migrate to Brazil and Uruguay
They want to survive the winter, in a warm, comfy way.
European gulls migrate to Africa or the Middle East.
Enjoying litterbug’s garbage, a glorious feast.

Seagulls head home, when they feel spring is on her way.
I passed ten of them flying north, just the other day.
United States gulls who migrated to Argentina,
Fly back there in March, without a subpoena...

Agustina
She's a strange girl, Agustina
She runs through my mind like a cheetah
Who would've thought I'd fall for a girl from Argentina

I've never met her, only seen her
She's a little older than me, yes
And we don't speak the same language
But i'll find her one day, I think

There's some doubt in my mind
Maybe i'll never get to meet her
But I tell myself to cross that bridge when I get there
And for now, keep dreaming...

Next Fight
Next Fight
How easy is it for countries who are friends
To become enemies and go to war?
Like Britain and Argentina in the 80s
Argentina bought British warships
Their crews trained here in 81
But in 82 they invaded the Falklands
We were at war and we won that war
But hundreds on both sides were killed
This is one example of conflict
It can and will happen again
Who will we fight next?

LETS TANGO
LETS TANGO

Nobody said, Let’s go to war
But an invasion, well I never
An Atlantic territory, remote
Who’d respond, they thought
Or perhaps get overwrought
Eight thousand miles by boat
Surely a link one could sever
As we’d not bothered before

For Argentina, a big mistake
The UK was much offended
Assembling ships and troops
Going to recover our islands
Even if it took some violence
To conquer, the Lady stoops
A few months later, it ended
Falklands never theirs to take
...

The Cold Generation
The cold generation

They don’t dance the tango in Argentina anymore
but you can do the twist alone but keep your distance.
However, the elegant the waltz is out, superb dresses
is not a defence against the virus.
To do the swing is awkward to without a hand to hold
on to, I don’t know about square dance though.
We are becoming a withdrawn society, like the Swedes
they are not famed for warmth and kisses.
That is the way they have porno-industry to make up for
the lack of intimacy....
