LETS TANGO

LETS TANGO Nobody said, Let’s go to war But an invasion, well I never An Atlantic territory, remote Who’d respond, they thought Or perhaps get overwrought Eight thousand miles by boat Surely a link one could sever As we’d not bothered before For Argentina, a big mistake The UK was much offended Assembling ships and troops Going to recover our islands Even if it took some violence To conquer, the Lady stoops A few months later, it ended Falklands never theirs to take

I appreciated the reference to Queen Elizabeht (the Lady Stoops). I remember that historical battle in which England had to finally succumb. Nicely written poem for the contest, Howard. Hope you're have a pleasant day, Sara

Ah, a foreign perspective.. UK took back the island from a crazy Argentine invasion in 1982. The 'Lady' was Margaret Thatcher (UK Prime Minister). A notable victory...no succumbing.
