My Sweetest Kiss
Dedicated to Anita Rae-

There is nothing more than this,
Than the brightest, sweetest kiss.
Nothing more in this whole world,
Than the name of this fool girl.
And I should greatly be remiss,
If I dismiss, my sweetest kiss....

Hip-Hip Hooray!
To think no one cares about me?
It can't be my reality!

I have God; I have friends
To get me through the twists and bends

Aunt Anita was quite a help
Could have existed like a kelp!

What it takes to really believe
Somehow that I did achieve!...

Anita and My Antique
I watched as she dusted and sneezed;
'It's worthless, I'm certain,' she wheezed.
I thought I'd be rich -
oh, life is a b.tch!
(My desk got a clean, so I'm pleased...)

written 26th April for Joseph's contest - about Anita Manning from The Antique Roadshow...

Premium Member Kidster's Last Name
I legally changed my last name to Cleator,
because my original name was cursed.
Life was tough as a child and even as an adult
with a name like William, A Cleatoris.
*
Dedicated to Mike Hunt, Anita Cock & Dick Hertz.
I can relate to all of you on a very personal level....

The Hearings
I believed Anita Hill;
So did all my friends.
History repeats itself;
We know how it ends.

Watching makes my stomach turn
For loyalists won’t budge
And thus the Court will have on board
Another suspect judge.

It really isn’t a surprise
When those in our regime
Distort the truth with consequences,
In this case, Supreme....

Premium Member Stuffed Tiger
A fat tiger sat beside her;
it settled down, began to purr
The girl, Anita, said, “Oh My.”
quietly, trying not to cry.
“You want to eat me up”? She said
“put your big teeth around my head?”
To her surprise, the tiger spoke
“not just now,” he said, half in joke.
“Why not?” She asked, rather meekly
“‘cause I only eat once weekly.”...

Anita Page Actress
Anita Page's image wore well,
Rustling silk having carried her
But beneath her celluloid gaiety
And the nuance of her blonde curls.
I sensed  something more apposite
The glint in her eye,

Reminding me of a mood dance,
Lasting deep into the scene.
A  fluid transition into interpretation,
She felt the spoken word could not convey....

The Mystery of a City Angel
(for: Anita, a belle near Lagos campus)

shyly she smiles
her ever-floating smiles
wrecking the reason
out of the land;
impudence accompanies
her to all the hills –
sitting like an old goddess
of harvest & healing
she looks so calm
this angel of the city –
is she an angel of fertility
or the patron of virgins?
wisdom kicks on the faces
of old humanity;
& now she smiles away
with her heroic deeds
a queen of many misdeeds!...

Premium Member Fiendish Hub Anita Blake Series Tribute
I've heard of the Circus Of The Damned;
By all accounts the rumors are true;
The graffiti makes it seem so grande;

Filled with copper and turquoise blue
billboards have you longing to attend;
In the French Quarter stories continue;

St. Louis boasts a fantasy alive and well;
Vampires perform in this fiendish hub,
gothic striptease mixed with a carnival;

More intense energy than any club,
blood will surely soak your ticket stub....

“You can ring my bell, ring my bell, you can ring my bell” Anita Ward He rings my bell so well that he is like an artist at his craft because he pushes all my buttons, but in a way sublime. Oh, how he makes me tingle from head to toe. June 29, 2021 for John Anderson's Ring My Bell Poetry Contest Someone has told me that I need single-spacing, but I thought this WAS single spacing. I hope I am right about this!!

Twilight At the Graveyard By Kuldip Medhi
O' Soul, why is the sound
Of heart break so desolate
In the dead wind by the overflowing river-side

As if a gaggle of wild ducks flew away
Carrying ripe autumns at their beaks
The moonshine fainted by the mirror
In the midst of
A dream's course
The moon sank
In the landslide

My Soul, everything's over now
Twilight has descended on the graveyard.

(Translated from the original in Assamese "Morixalit Kalsondhya" by Prof. Anita Baruwa)...

Premium Member Watch What You Spell Too
Grandma your phone was ringing and you missed a call
I do not care I tell the eight year old
Okay she says it was Anita Hall
Which reminds me of what my daughter said upon arrival
Do not think you can spell in front of Daisy

Apparently....
My daughter had spelled s-e-x-u-a-l last week
The next day s-e-x-u-a-l was spelled on top of the crayon box
She asked who wrote it.
Daisy said “I had to write it so I could Google it to see what it meant.
Well okay then....

Jezebels Seduction
Off she took her leathery cap
For an apparently sought nap
She had secured with a milky pap,
Her decided pillow Bob’s lap
But with her trousers’ flap
Open like Satan’s trap,
Thus, her sleep intentions making a crap
And she a target for Christian Mother’s slap,
On her head an upset father’s rap
And, sure, a child’s gossipy clap…
Between her and honesty of purpose, a gap
Bob as simple as a candy wrap
On the whole, a Jezebel’s seduction
By Anita, member by induction....

Premium Member Poor Joe
Thinning hair, lost some weight,
Then, his fellow runners in the race,
Walking over him like old cheese cake!
Dragging anything out to do him in_
Anita Hill? Wow, yesterday's newspapers,
An aging,wrinkled pill!
Crackpots on skateboards, DUI's,
Flailing their arms, promising the moon.
Thinking ...younger means better!
These arrogant aging prom queens and kings,
Need their lips, tightly tethered.
One day, they too, will be weathered!
