Amish Sundown in the Hayfield

Heaven bright sunshine
slowly shadows
the hand-knotted
bundles, scenting the air
with sweet blessings,
for a peaceful night.

Simple
people who love
God, family and neighbor.
Progress is never considered
without consulting their church councilmen.
Everyone lives by their church faith
upholding Christian rule
and living life
Simple

Snitch
This love swelling up within me
Brings me to an epiphany
Breaking the rules of gravity
I fly into he arms of Grace.

Crucifying the flesh, the witch called Selfish
Embracing the Amish I make a wish
To never abandon the rich
For which I am a snitch....

Metaphorically Speaking
Dive under any
skirt that floats
your way, Amish
or otherwise,
metaphorically speaking.
Be an explorer.

Sail every sea until
you find the eddy
you want to swirl in
the rest of your life.
Then stake your claim.
Make it your own.

Amish Snow Plow
Snow
Cold and white
Like clouds in a sky
Lots of it on the ground
Surrounding me
As I go
For my morning walk

I see an Amish man go by
On his snow plow
Pulled by horses
With a dog following
On the ground

And soon a path
Is being made
So that people
Can get to and from town
In the Amish community

A Poem About a Woman and a Card Show
The boxes are filled
      with cards
and the people are
       milling about
  Seems like another card
show is taking place
    here in the heartland
of the Amish
     tomorrow a church
Monday, a Seder
   Collecting cards
definitely
   keeps one sane
and so do puzzles
   Is love a game?
That is another question altogether...

Pulling Wagons Been In Unison
Four horses were in unison;
Pulling wagons have been;
Surely such a noble sight;
To see brought much delight.

Distinct leader one always is
May experience loneliness,
Who is an example setting;
Petting him will be letting;

Wagon with much weight;
Return home was never late
With distinguished beauty
He did complete his duty.

Wrote this about an Amish Scene....

Shoofly Pie
The Labrea Tar Pits in a pastry shell
can be for flying insects, a living hell.
They are drawn to something so sticky and sweet.
It still shows some remnants of an oven’s heat.
When they land there, certain death is what they meet.
Its purpose is so the Amish folks can eat.
For Dinah Shore and others, it’s a nice treat.
If in Eastern Pennsylvania passing by,
don’t forget to pick up some shoofly pie....

We big spending
Humans
Are way
Too technology
Existent.
Vexed by the simpler,
Early lifestyles of our ancestors;
Remember that there is a cheaper way to do everything.

For instance,
Look
Over
At
The Amish
Sects.

Year after year, they survive
On the ways of nature;
United by their beliefs;
Rare though, they may be.

By living
Only by the simplest methods,
Are they
Thriving, successfully....
