Alzheimers - Love Without Hope
She sits alone with her distant stare
He visits daily but she is unaware.
No future hopes to speak thereof
Yet still husband, wife, and deep true love.

A Ripple In Time
a ripple in time
opens the escape into
the distant past
to visit memories lived
with those who have gone to dust
while present moments
become forever lost in
a ripple in time

(inspired by care giving for my mother who has alzheimers)...

A Long Goodbye
A vast familiar landscape flutters and faulters;
invites and departs
Fog slowly rolls in,
shrouding present and past,
in a harsh, lonely tomb

An Analogy of Memory Loss
It's a bit like...
you are in a bathroom
filling a hot tub,
slowly the steam
covers the mirror...
and the mirror loses it's reflection;
that loss of reflection,
is my memory fading !

Premium Member My Love Has Alzheimers
My love
has dementia
I visit
His girlfriend storms off
screaming nonsensical words.
One second of recognition
Fleeting. Gone now.
A soft forgetting of his eyes
He has no idea how loved he is,
resigned to the alzheimers unit
I tell him goodbye but
can see he has already left....

Alzheimers
Affects so many people’s

Lives, that we try hard being

Zealous, by offering them

Help and support for all those

Effected by this disease.

Involved in their care, and to

Maintain pride and dignity

Every day, so that we can

Remember them, and just how

Special they have always been....

Early Onset Alzheimers
No sleep tonight
my dreams upset my mind
it's all about
losing thoughts to time

It's like I was never young
nor hearty, nor hale
like disabilities came early
and wiped my memory clear

Now I worry
what will happen
when my thoughts are no longer honed
I'll just lie there, lost...depressed...alone

Premium Member Will I Ever Return
(A Poem About Dementia/Alzheimers)

Where have l gone
Will l be back soon
Have l left this earth
Been flown to the moon

If l ever return
Will it be the same
Jumbled and muddled
Thoughts l no longer retain

I am lost in my head
Rambling around
Confused, alone ,afraid,
Has “ME” vanished…..never to be found...

Thoughtless Departure
You have left me without leaving,
Your presence here beyond deceiving.
We share a space where you are not,
You’ve gone on to I know not what.
Desertion was not your plan at all,
But your mind, by a siren call,
Loosed our forever knot,
And left me looking where you’re not
For the love and life we shared,
Shattered now with no hope spared....

My Heart Forgot
many years have passed
since I told you
I wanted the moon
since you promised
you would give it
perhaps you were
busy with other things
maybe jumping
from saturn to neptune
or riding the milky way
now you kneel before me
offering your hands
full of moondust
but it seems as though
my heart forgot
as if my love is
sick with alzheimers...

Locked Memories
Unlock the box, where is the key?
I want to remember the treasures of the past.
What my child's heart, held dear.

Wipe the dust away
I could paint a portrait here
Where did the child's heart go?
Regain the days and joy.
Regain the simplicity of days forgotten
Hold my hand, help the memories flow.

Premium Member Deceit In the Shadows
deceit in the shadows
of a failing mind
listen to your silence
pick up the heart pieces

deceit in the shadows
illusion's discomfort
black bird balderdash
picking at your mind

deceit in the shadows
the wind walker's laugh
magic of the shrode
pick at your cell zones

deceit of the shadows
of one who is seeing
them for the first time
as they are not as mere illusions...

The Bladder Fell Off the Ladder
At tender old age
This man doesn't have IT
The BLADDER fell off the LADDER
While fogetting to take a -HIT

Flabby fish wants BAIT
But nothin' a comin'
The BELLY turning JELLY
A reality that I especially HATE

Advancing TIMER
Dreading ALZHEIMERS
The bulge is unsightly
and so is his MANNERS

Coming to TERMS
Before I get WORMS
Stay away from this geezer
Before you get my GERMS!!...

Listen to poem:
Their wedding day was such a super day.
Splicing of two hearts in eternity
Heading to wedded bliss , spreading delight
No uncertainty it's fraternity
Love keeps sanity for posterity
Memory's stole and taken you away
Alzheimers gone forever and a day
Remember her until your dying day
Its a fresh hello each and every day
they will fall in love again each new day.

Confusion, anger, helplessness.
Where is it?
What did I do with it?
Did someone take it?

Denial
That doctor is crazy.
There's nothing wrong with me.
Everyone forgets things now and then.

They're trying to get rid of me.
Conspiring against me.
They want what I have acquired.
No one cares what happens to me.

My only friend is the dog.
The only one who still loves me.
He is at their mercy too....

Alzheimer’s Written: By Tom Wright 8-22-05 To the mind that’s choked as a stagnant pool With algae covering its simplest thought. Departed is the recall of this magnificent tool Absent is the passion for life once sought. Deadpan eyes meet those ensconced with pain Seeking much patience and understanding; From the life that was, let the memories remain Sometimes life seems cruel and demanding.

Premium Member Death Is Life
rejuvenation at the utmost flavor
flying toward my future assignment
angels try to stop me
they do not recognize my impulsivity
until I get closer

wings appear and that aura
mine is pink this time
I had been hoping for orange
the gates slam shut
not so fast my guardian hollers
he has to cut the silver cord

my life review is terrific
so many wonderful moments
my alzheimers had slammed them shut
and locked them away
but here I am again
refreshed and ready to begin anew...
