A Senior Citizen any day
Blessed to wake up hooray
Through the aches and pain
Sometimes the need to complain
Memory sometimes in forget
Enjoyment of retirement blitz
Carefree sensation
Surrounded by family and Grandchildren
Forget the Nursing Home
Always a need to walk and talk
Enriched spirit
Wanting to enjoy and live
Breath of Life
Embracing refreshing flowers
Sometimes for hours
Oasis of their own
Rocking Chair moments
Reflecting on their past life
Youthful years
Wisdom mounts
Encouraging words
Exercising those joints
Friendly breezes in blessing
Smile to smile
Heart to heart
A Senior Citizen Start.

Being a senior citizen sure has it's ups and downs.
It seems I'm learning something new each time I turn around.
Things are different now for me than when I was young.
I'm older now and wiser too and life's a lot more fun.
I used to think when I got old the fun would be all over.
I'd sit and rock and dream about bygone days of clover;
Days of fun and frolic that were filled with love, adventure;
But it turns out that just ain't so in youth I was indentured;
Tied to duty and my job I worried 'bout my payments,
House and car and credit cards, each month was filled with statements.
Now I'm free to do my thing, slow down and smell the roses.
I've some wrinkles and gray hair but don't look down your noses,
At us old folks 'cause you think we're old and dumb, not with it.
'Cause we've been down that road before and you my friend can have it.
This senor thing has got it's edge and I've put in my bid,
To head the list, be number one as the world's oldest kid.

Her memory is a breath of laughter
Caressing the night in layers of starlight
Dreams rising on the greenest pastures
Where sun and moon glimmer, winking
While gently comforting, shining
O’er a reflection of yesterday
When she knew life – before old age
Her memory erases the many years
Of silence where her photo delights
In grinning from edges of a dull frame,
eyes twinkling love beneath warm lashes lining emerald legends
Promises of kindness reminding that she was once young
Her heart has broken and been mended by time and God
Who knows her as she is inside - young there in her spirit
Where she shines proficiency
Experience slides across her cheeks
Dimming her eyes with silent tears
Her Spirit survives and thrives - With love that is alive inside
Where she tries to deny that time
Is slowly erasing her sparkle - still, she shines!

Being a senior citizen,
Sure has it's ups and downs.
It seems I'm learning something new,
Each time I turn around.
Things are different now for me,
Than when I was young.
I'm older and much wiser now,
And life's a lot more fun.
I used to think when I got old,
The fun would all be over.
I'd sit and rock and dream about,
Bygone days of clover.
Days of fun and frolic that,

But it turns out that just ain't so,

I worried 'bout my payments.
House and car and credit cards,
Each month was filled with statements.
Now I'm free to do my thing,
Slow down and smell the roses.
I've wrinkles and gray hair, so what.
Don't look down your noses,
At us old folks 'cause you think,
We're old and dumb, not with it.
'Cause we've been down that road before,
And you, my friend, can have it.
This senior thing has got it's edge,

YeeeHaaaa!

Ok, I normally keep my cool.
I rarely get THAT mad.
I wanted to knock her teeth out!
Oh yes, it was that bad!
I was innocently shopping.
Going about my day.
I was finished with the browsing
so I headed up to pay.
This nasty, mid-aged woman
looked me in the eye
and what she said made my mouth drop
and made me want to cry!
She asked if I ''get the discount''.
Of course I said ''I don't know,
how do you get this discount? ''
and then she said...''Oh, no.''
''Forget it, I'm sure you don't.''
I knew what she meant then...
this woman was asking me
if I was a... SENIOR CITIZEN! !
It takes alot to get me mad
and I never ever swear
but, let's just say I bit my tongue
as I left that day from there!
I told her she just ruined
what had been a decent day.
She gave a smirk and brushed me off
with little more to say.
Perhaps I don't look twenty...
this I will admit.
But, she was at least 60
and looked every day of it.
How rude to ask a woman
when she's only 34
if she's a senior citizen!
I won't shop there anymore! !
