Footles Rattle 1

Footles Rattle

Far sky
So high
Hot sun
Not fun.
Naughty
Haughty.
High price
New rise.
Top prize
Hopes rise.
Strong-willed
Long-grilled.
New ring
News bring.
Don’t miss
Fond kiss.
Too shy
No try.

If You Never Met

If You Never Met
By Franklin Price
2/22/2017

If you never met John Doe
It would be too soon
A heartless, rotten, silly man
Who had a pet baboon

Treated his pet miserably
Screamed 'til he turned pink
Verbal assault was not enough
So he taught his pet to drink

Both were alcoholics
In the Lazy Dog Saloon
John Doe and his special pet
The ring-tailed drunk baboon

God Gave Me You

Love's undeniable journey
explores all life,touches an
amazing earth only you and
I can share between time.

All ups n' downs come with
Fortune n' price, but together
We will shatter a mountain of
Rock.

A place we can go hide closely
cuddled cave, against the
Closure of your misled arms,
Wrapped tightly around a spin
Of Saturn's that ring me.

As Pluto's fire, breaks guard
closer to the sun.....Where GOD
GAVE ME YOU] And an UNchained
melody to sing.

Freedoms Relief

Freedom comes, but bears a price
Reminiscent of the wars before
Every man must learn to fight
Encounter enemies by the score
Damn those who defy the right
Or for tyranny, they might employ
Make them see the freedom’s light
So they’ll feel the freedom’s joy

Remember now the freedoms ring
Enlighten others, let them see
Live lives in peace, let’s all sing
Invite them out to be set free.
Encourage others so they know
Freedom’s here, so watch it grow.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day
By Franklin Price
5/26/2017

Memorial Day, a time for thought,
Of wars that our brave soldiers fought,
With their lives our freedom bought,
Let not their lives be lost for naught.

All gave some and some gave all,
Were there when country came to call,
Rose to the test, stood straight and tall,
Some returned beneath flag pall

They flew so high on eagle's wing.
Their memories to which we cling
Are ones that let our freedom ring;
Should on this day their praises sing.

The Ring

It’s only a ring
That is true;
Yet, this ring my
Father knew.
Upon his finger it
Never left,
Despite discomfort,
It was worn,
Though like a thorn.
A price was paid
For the right to bear
Its seal,
To fight the fight,
To conquer the night,
To prosper in life,
To comfort his wife.
I was young
When my father stood
Upon a stage and shook
The hand of an academic man.
Yet, like a thief,
Death placed this ring
Into my hand.
It’s only a ring
That is true;
Yet, this ring I knew too.

The Ring

The Ring
By Franklin Price
8/8/2017
(For Bella and Dalton)

The ring is very beautiful
And the future that's therein
The thought with which was given
Life together to begin

My wish for you is happiness
That's for the both of you
May you always work together
In everything you do

Not always fifty fifty
Always some give and take
Understanding one another
A relationship to make

Luck can't make it happen
Working hard can make it so
Love's now between the two of you
Together make it grow

Gems of Love

Bright stars shine in night skies
Like bangles, baubles and beads
Puts a twinkle in every girl's eyes
Like a gift of fine jewelry

A pair of sun stone earrings
Presented to the daughter I love
Some expensive fatherly bling
The price for her, one hug

Red copper reflecting inclusions
Dark middles fade to light edges
An adventurine feldspar illusion
Perfect for eternal love pledges

Turquoise blue or teal green schiller
Either one is an eye to heart thriller

You Might Be a Deplorable

You Might be a Deplorable
By Franklin Price
9/12/2016

You might be a deplorable
If Trump has got your ear
If you think this country needs to change
That's not in question; it's quite clear

If you don't bow to the mighty
And don't kow-tow to the rich
You might be a deplorable
Now isn't life a bitch.

Looks like We the People
Cannot choose on our own terms
Must wear a ring within our nose
Regardless of the germs

I for one will choose my life
Friends not defined by class
If that doesn't meet your standards
Then you may kiss my a--

One Month From Now

One Month From Now
By Franklin Price
12/18/2023

One month from now will be two years
Since my Barbara left this life
I still wear my wedding ring
For she will always be my wife

There could never be another
Who could ever take her place
For more than two and fifty years
I looked upon her lovely face

We shared all that our lives would bring
Which is all we'd ever need
We always said, “I love you”
Even when we disagreed

She's still within my mind and heart
She's still in my life each day
Until we meet again in heaven
It will always be that way

Remembrance

Flags flying at half mast,
Remembering the people from our past,
On a cold Autumns day all over the land,
In sadness they gather, together they stand,
The price of freedom is what they paid,
As they rest in the ground, here they are laid.
Gratitude and thanks for the life we live now,
They gave up their lives that was their vow.
Remembering them once a year,
They fought for freedom that's why we are here,
Prayers of thanks and remembrance, ring round all over this land,
They fought off tyranny so we could unite and stand,
To those brave men and women we owe so much

This Poem Is a Monorhyme

This poem is a Monorhyme
By Franklin Price
12/8/2016

This poem is a monorhyme
About a mountain I should climb
Just to the east of Anaheim
Must climb it while I'm in my prime
Must get a permit just in time
If not the climb would be a crime
The permit cost is just a dime
The cashier is a white-faced mime
To get his attention ring the chime
The broken silence not sublime
If you want can pantomime
Must wash your hands of any grime
Don't damage them by using lime
For melted skin turns into slime
Could bandage it with sprigs of thyme
Others might not yet be done but I'm

Decisions

What will you decide for yourself today?
What is your self- worth, what price are you willing to pay?
How will you face the obstacles at hand?
For what exactly will you choose to stand?

You will be faced with failure time and time again.
But never give up, stay true to your domain.
Don’t look back at the dangers nipping at your heel.
Remain focused and steady under life’s keel.

Stay strong in life’s darkest moments.
Calm and steady will earn your endowments.
Make your decisions wisely sort through life’s odds and ends.
And never no matter what ring that bell my friends!

The Virtual World

In the evergreen Realm,
Nothing is calm,
The buzz brings the Charm,
With a mystic Alarm.

Logic the King
Had a magic Ring,
He shut it in a Chip
And sold it on a Trip.

The buyer was Gates,
Who belonged to States.
Why was he to take ?
For, it was a mistake.

Their Charts were fake
And everything was a make,
Numbers they sold,
For the price of Gold !

The pet of every Spouse,
Was their power House,
With light years of Data to browse,
And all that, stole by a Mouse !

The people are crazy,
They make others lazy,
The scene is very breezy,
Yet, they take it all too easy.

Kiwi Fruit

There is a little brown fruit called a “kiwi”.
Some people call it a “Chinese gooseberry“.
It is shaped like an egg, and very hairy.
It is named after a bird in New Zealand.
They are a tasty treat when they are on hand.
Cut it open, and see it is green inside.
Popularity is something not denied.
Seeds of the fruit are embedded in a ring.
Sweet and tangy juice has this edible thing.
Flavor like strawberries make my taste buds sing.
Found in the tropical Southern Hemisphere,
they grow domestically in abundance here.
When in season, they are much lower in price.
So go to your produce store for something nice.

The Cost of Freedom

The cost of freedom has increased, the price went up.
It takes alot to be free, but the price is love.
And the PRIZE is love.
Not saying you have to sing; kumbaya around a fiery ring,
but voices and rainbow hands will raise high to the night sky
as we shake off shackles and chains
and they slide down
and wrap around
the original drum,
which beats and sings out song that'll never fall from the tongue.
It clicks shut, complete with lock and key.
And we are poor slaves joining hands with empty pockets
and shackled hearts.
The cost of freedom has increased,
which is why when we form our ring,
there's a low drum beating in the dark.

Seventy-Five

Seventy-five
By Franklin Price
04/23/2023

This is your birthday seven five
Three quarters century
Two birthdays since God took you
Now in Heaven without me

You're looking on our savior's face
No pain, no tears, no strife
You believed, so there you are
You now have eternal life

I know you're looking down on me
From your place so high above
Helping me to carry on
Always sending me your love

Happy birthday Barbara
You are still my loving wife
Still have your ring upon my finger
As I carry on in life

I cannot forget your birthday
Or two and fifty years in time
When we meet again in Heaven
Eternal life will be sublime

No Free Lunch Nor Free Supper

No free lunch nor free supper
Offered in this expensive life;
When one pays for his breakfast,
The high price cuts him like a knife.

Every good meal has a value,
Coming from the fruits of labor;
Anyone who is lazy or slothful
Should never eat food nor savor.

It's impossible for a man
To possess something for nothing;
Money is the means of payment
For a gold or a diamond ring.

Whatever services are provided,
They must be paid for by someone;
Whatever foods are stipulated,
There should never be eat-and-run.

Every choice someone makes
Has alternatives that matter;
Opportunity comes and goes,
There's no free lunch nor free supper.

Congress Was Elected

Congress was Elected
By Franklin Price
1/23/2019

Congress was elected
For the people of their state
To follow selfish party lines,
Degrades this country's fate

Be seated there because you care
Listen to constituents
Respond only to, who elected you,
Not inconsequential incidents

There as a representative
Not as one who stands alone
Not as a prince or princess
Who may ascend unto the throne

Don't think you are George Washington
Whom many wanted as the king
He refused, what makes you think,
We will bow and kiss your ring?

The populous is waking up
No longer buying what you sell
Start fighting for your people
Or they'll ring your ending bell

The Boxing Match In Washington

The Boxing Match in Washington
By Franklin Price
9/8/2015

The boxing match in Washington
A bloody thing to see
It's not the boxers bleeding
It's our country you and me

Republican or Democrat
It matters not which one
Think their job's to fight each other
Show them the fight has just begun

They're swinging at each other
But the punches land on us
You know that we can join the fray
That we can stop this fuss

After all we are their managers
Though they think it is not so
We can throw the towel in any time
Show them they've lost it's time to go

We must take charge to do that
Ring the bell to stop the bout
They'll never be our champions
Vote to knock their stupid asses out

Fifty Years

Fifty Years
(happy anniversary Marilyn and Larry)
By Franklin Price
8/20/2016

Fifty years is not so long
Sometimes only yesterday
Said “I do” to your best friend
Put on that ring to stay

No doubt you love each other
No one else would ever do
Congratulations on the fifty
I'm so proud of both of you

I know it wasn't easy
On every day that passed you by
Sometimes there were storm clouds
To darken up the bright blue sky

You listened to the thunder
Kept the lightning strikes away
Weathering storms were part of getting here
As was the perfect Springtime day

My hope and prayer for both of you
Is that you move on happily
You've been so long together
That you're almost family

My Republic

By Laura Dee Battle
January 24, 2015

Republic of the shadows seem to say
I was deceiving them yesterday
To claim I was so promising
Is haunting like their broken ring

I am the passenger above the mile high decay
Thinking of the shadows I saw yesterday
The promising things they used to bring
Still haunting me; the choir sings

I left the shadows so far behind
But I miss days when I was blind
It's brighter now but oh so dangerous
I'm struggling and way too scandalous

So hopefuls be damned for loving my kiss
In retrospect the price I paid is really hard to miss
Alone I stand but that's the way it has to be
It may be late for you and me, but you can always meet me at the trees
