He plops on a lily pad
like it’s a cushy spa chair,
wiggling his knobby green toes
and announcing to no one,
“Must be time for a mani/pedi.”
He uncaps the polish,
a shade called Pink Swampy Chic~
and paints each stubby digit
with the concentration of a surgeon
and the vanity of a bullfrog
who knows he’s a looker
if only in his own mind.
By the time he’s done,
the pond is shimmering
with reflections of ten tiny fuschia toes
and a frog who believes
beauty is mostly attitude
and a steady hand.
There is a pub next door to a beauty salon,
On the main street of our town.
Men go there to drink.
All day and every day.
Next door to a beauty salon
On the main street of our town.
He stands,unsteady in the doorway
Pulling on the remains of a roll up cigarrette.
Lungs, already weak, inhaling right down to the last ash
.
Unkempt, unshaven, his eyes unsteady stare at nothing.
No longer believing in life, love or that tomorrow,
next week or year will be better.
Unlike the young girls, beaming with life,
sitting inside the beauty salon, next door to the pub,
On the main street of our town.
He said what he had to say
to tell the story
He did what he had to do
to rescue time
He paid what he had to pay
to bribe the jailers
He gave what he had to give

i can quiff
you can
queef
but we
both
can
quaff and
so toast
i to you
and you to
anyone
you
want
to
Oh! My gosh. What is it with the girly girl
Adventure?
They say looking great is a lure
To capture
An amore. To me that's a whole other
Venture.
I am such an amateur.
I am not looking for any more pressure.
Now on to the brochure
Which supposedly has the beauty cure.
Their prices are not high on expenditures
It features
Hair cut to style which includes shampoo,
Dry, make over, manicure,
And pedicure
All done at our leisure.
For our listening pleasure
All work will be done to the overture
Of Bach which some deemed as torture.
Any way the end result was everyone comes
Out a beautiful relaxed creature
Who has been in hiding like a lost treasure.
We are supposedly feeling less insecure,
And more sure,
Of our future.
I need a picture.
Mon Dieu she shrieked, I watched him standing there,
Beneath the Gogh, the suit was Weatherill.
He sipped cognac (Eden de Gautier)
And on his arm some filly from Brazil.
You heard, of course, poor dear, she knew the drill.
What must she think: her dress, she wore Chanel,
The shoes, Vuitton, I thought were overkill
But then she smiled; I swear he almost fell.
Madame, the coiffeur calls please take the chair.
She feigns a smile, the fragrance tastes Patou.
He's suave, he knows, he gently combs the air
And asks, Madame, what can I do for you.
She flicks her hair as if she's in distress.
He knows she knows that men have died for less.

People often say now I understand
When they hear that I'm from Paree
Not Gay Paree silly, but redneck
In the heart of Tennessee
I am the newest style of hairdressers
Here to lay out all the facts
I no longer work on the tops of heads
But straight out of the pits
It all happened when I got bored
With the every day to day
Trimming of the head left me feeling dead
That's when it hit me..."Underarm Braid"
That right there was my life saver
That right there was my turn around
If it didn't make me world famous
At least it did on this side of town
Now people come from as far as Nashville
To have their underarms done
I even gave a left and right pit Mohawk
To the Governor's daughter and son
What? Did you think I only braided?
There's so much more that I can do
Just ask the Punk Rock Chick's that wait in line
To have their armpits colored blue
My older clientele have let there hair grow out
Since it is they learned
I'm now specializing in for both women and men
Their favorite sets and perms
So feel the freedom of the pits
That hippie chicks have long since known
Here at Michael's Salon Of Pits
We'll do something special with that growth
Be bear aware
Be prepared
Bring bear spray
And a nail file, too
In case you see the bruin
And she wants you to style her hair
And while you're at it
You can give her a pedicure, too.

Hurricanes scour
everything they touch,
then rinse and
blow dry.
Don't come here but please go there
For this is what I have to share
About our dear hairdresser Claire.
She'll never catch you in a snare
Because her prices are more than fair.
She will cut your hair layer by layer
And will not let your head go bald or bare
So there is no glare for us to stare
And she will help you grow long wanted hair.
In this verse I have been more than fair
And if I am not I do not care
For soon I will be committed or declared
I will end this with our love for Claire
Who always has an outward flair.
So there!

Salon
Vanity spewing unchecked to an unwillingly captive audience
"I am this and I did that", "look at me, me, me"!
"Make me pretty, I am pretty, I am aren't I"?
Maybe I am just tired or tainted
or just possibly because I am bald by choice
probably.
So much time spent on words without value
time that will never be retrieved
a seemingly limitless future of endless words
if only that were true.
This one minute, one second, may well be the last
the one that truly matters
use every word wisely
you may well be having that final word.

I'm off to the puppy salon,
to get pampered and spoiled today,
all my pup smell will be gone,
my mom, says she likes it better that way,
they will fluff and dematt,
not sure I'll love that,
but then I'll be loving,
that warm bubble bath,
my groomer will trim me all up,
in a perfect lil pup cut,
she'll trim my nails, and my feet,
so I don't slide away on the floor,
I'll get a mist of a scent that's so sweet,
a scent called pup-o-dejore,
I'll thank my mom, for a wonderful day,
I'll try, but I don't think that I'll stay this way,
but it was great,
so I'll go back,
and my new groomer will keep me,, on the right track.
SALON
IT IS THE PLACE TO GET REVAMP,
REVAMP OF THE FACE TAKES
PLACE.
BUT YOU CAN REVAMP YOUR INNER SOUL.
THE BEAUTY SALON IS THE PLACE.
AS BARBER CHOPS DOWN YOUR HAIR,
SAME WAY THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU
CHOPS DOWN YOUR
HONESTY N PRIDE.
YOU CAN THINK AT SALON AND CAN
GET REVAMP OF YOUR SOUL.
WHICH WILL TAKE YOU TO
SANITY.
THINK HOW YOUR HAIR
BEING CHOPPED BY SCISSOR
AS A WEAPON.
AND SAME WITH YOUR SOUL IS BEING
CHOPPED BY PEOPLE AND
GREED IS THE CULPRIT.
SALON IS THE PLACE TO THINK.
I THINK SO !!!
AS BARBER IS YOUR ANGEL
TO HIS TUNES YOU MOVE
YOUR HEAD.
BUT YOU ARE YOUR MASTER
TO MOVE YOUR HEART TO
YOUR TUNES.
SALON IS THE PLACE WHERE YOU PAY
YOUR WEALTH FOR REVAMP OF
YOUR FACE,
AND FOR REVAMP OF YOUR
SOUL
YOU HAVE TO PAY IN THE PRICE
OF SACRIFICE
LOVE
AFFECTION N
CARE.
SALON IS THE PLACE TO REVAMP
YOUR SOUL
I THINK SO!!!
