THE THRILL OF THE PLUNGE*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
steel tracks twist and dive,
a serpent of metal coil
fear and joy collide
hands raised to the sky,
trusting the rush of the ride—
in thrill, our hearts soar
cresting the high peak,
the world drops away below
time bends in the loop
screams mix with laughter
hearts race in the weightless air—
then the silence falls
back on solid ground,
echoes of
My mind is like a constant roller coaster, speeding through life unable to stop and complete a simple task, but even a simple task is too much.
I wish my brain had a switch to slow it down, or even just lower the volume of the constant loud thoughts drowning out my concentration.
The roller
They knelt behind a photo booth humming
hymnals to a tooth-
old gods' wants reclaim the youth.
Holy Roller
There once was an old Pope from Rome
who had the Good Book a huge tome
an altar ego and mass appeal
so he made the Vatican home
2015 he addressed the environment
on climate change caused by man
and issued a Catholic Church encyclical
the first-ever since Popes began
let's trust instructing his cardinals
to avoid any more scandals
when pontificating and preaching to
Premium MemberDean the Cutest Roller Skating Giraffe
Dean was roaringly cute with curly turquoise hair
A skater in pink roller skates, with a superior air
He was born in Savanna in a tiny little zoo
But he had been touring since he was two
People went crazy when he got into town
The zoo had a circus, with a tent big and brown.
They made a parade starring
Life's Roller Coaster Ride
Welcome to my life—it's a wild ride with twists and drops that leave me breathless, mirroring the storms within. Heavy chains pull at me, and though I rise, gravity reminds me of my place—unseen, just echoes left behind.
Some days, I feel weightless, lifted by joy, soaring beyond doubt into a kingdom of sky, every breath
Ride With Me!!
      I told you from the start, it’s true,
“My roller coaster, see it through!
      Ride with me ‘til journey’s end,
Hand in hand, our spirits blend.”
     “Get off with me,” I gently pled,
“No fear, no doubt, no words unsaid.
Found my space to roller skate
Like I did when I was eight ...
Round, round and round the rink
Flashing lights of blue and pink
High above such trivial things
Skating the track of Saturn's rings,
Go, go, they can't catch me now
Once you learn, you never forget how
The music flows from far, far away
Down on Earth where records
Rhinos on roller skates
Who would create them?
The skates, not the rhinos.
Better yet, who would fit their feet?
Would they come to the rollerskating store?
If they did, would they trample the other customers?
What customers? My aunt asks. No one shops anymore.
Thanks to online shopping, I fear that she might be right.
If I see a bunch of rhinos
Roller Coaster by the Sea
Into the gaze of your
Sea breeze eyes
I don't ever want to
Look away.
No convincing,
No persuasion needed
This organicity
Offers us a
World in and of its
Own.
Crossing paths,
The bridge,
The connection
The sweetness of
your breath
Moving forward,
Never wanting to stop
This crazy ride.
Premium MemberUNDER DESKS OR ON ROLLER SKATES
I once had this idyllic picture of children…in school…learning with their mates
or outside playing together…running, jumping, laughing…riding on roller skates.
But that idyllic picture has changed…it’s not so idyllic anymore….
as we’re faced with another school shooting…and parts of the world at war.
In the midst of war…death comes quickly…lives are lost…hearts are broken
In the instant death arrives…there’s
Whispers of Thrills
The rusted Ferris wheel, a skeletal hand,
Points to a sky it can no longer command.
Once, laughter echoed, joy on the breeze,
Now silence reigns, whispered by the trees.
The carousel horses, their paint chipped and worn,
Dream of merry-go-rounds, of days yet unborn.
Once, children squealed, clinging to their steeds,
Now shadows dance, where happy laughter bleeds.
The cotton candy stand,
Man On A Roller Coaster Sonnet
It jolts and shakes as it carroms around,
my joints seethe at the pressure exerted,
it rips upward until high off the ground,
I hear the excited cries of my kid.
Oh, to be young, and has such a grand time,
to not feel pain lance as my brains shakes up,
nor to feel unnerved with every decline,
the stomach rises, holding
Premium MemberThe Roller Coaster Of Trying
The roller coaster of always trying
leaves you so empty and emotionless;
Twisted, all the roads I have been taking
just fill me with anxiety and stress;
‘Buck up you’re a leader stop worrying.’
I tell myself ‘Don’t think things to excess.’
One person can only do what they can,
still I feel I have to be ‘That Woman.’
