monstrous giants surround me on this gentle journey
the water is winking at me as if she knows my secrets.
Simultaneously, I feel invincible and vulnerable
Memories I thought were deceased arrive unbidden

I feel a kindship to my younger brother, whom I have not seen for years.
See my mother laughing, comfortable and cozy in Daddy’s arms

Following Arrows Backwards

Back I go retracing steps.
Against the tide I must tread,
Following the arrows down in reverse.
Each arrow head points back to moments gone,
To a time before the dawn of days past.

The footprints I must retread
Lead backwards on the path trod.
Heel to toe carefully placed in reverse,
To echo the way I felt at each step.

His eyes were wild with angry 
He roughly shoved her out of the vehicle 
I froze, terrified 
Her life was in danger 
Or was it my life in danger 
Our lives where in danger
She was begging for mercy

I oft find myself reliving my youth
    uncovering uncomfortable truths
  about all of my foibles and most of my sins
    O, Lord! What condition my poor soul is in... 

  Whether daydreams or nightmares 
    each one gives me a scare

Slowly falling backwards in fast forward, slipping quickly in rewind
Everything has been said and done , envy and jealousy orchestrates the emptiness of your mind
A futile release riddled with confusing censored free speech gone blind with  cold silence
Seemingly progression can't be made without the hunger for some violence
All elements of daily routines become stagnant and

Chasing Butterflies

She has long since left her childhood behind
but there are days 
she looks outside 
and sighs…
days she longs to run without a care 
finding faces in the clouds

a sinister reminder
of tortures of the past
is causing me to flounder
in deep shadows cast
     been through this before
     thought it had been conquered
     never again to abhor
     nor have to be endured

Reliving Barefoot Memories

Barefoot on the sand 

is it a warm place
that I dabble my toes
in the inviting water?
Say it is so, it has
been so dreary here.
I really need to escape
to a place the sun shines.

Sparkling and glimmering
crystals catch my attention
