reliving a childhood memory
monstrous giants surround me on this gentle journey
the water is winking at me as if she knows my secrets.
Simultaneously, I feel invincible and vulnerable
Memories I thought were deceased arrive unbidden
I feel a kindship to my younger brother, whom I have not seen for years.
See my mother laughing, comfortable and cozy in Daddy’s arms
A memory I have not had for a long time; probably to protect myself.
I am alone now, but I feel refreshed, revitalized and super charged.
a catfish jumps out of the lake and I smile at his fierce look.
He pretends not to notice me, I am not a threat, not a fisherman.
Just a man reliving a childhood memory that will keep me warm tonight.
