Rein In Poems | Examples

Cost - Benefit

Does it consume my time? Sure.
My money? Of course.
My health? Probably.
My ability to think? Naturally.
Is there great risk in it? If you're not careful ...
but of course you'll be careful
even if it makes you less so by nature ...

So why?
Why flirt with disaster? What's to be gained?

Escape.

Relatively inexpensive; perfectly legal; sometimes quite celebrated.
Christ said not to worry, didn't He?
Well - here's how, you nervous, fearful fool!

And the sweet icing atop the cake -
you ease up on the reins.
You lose the mental strength
to rein in your appetites.
So you'll get your escape - and the sickly sweet thrill
of knowing that your most selfish, raw desires could gain control
and do what your right mind would be far too shamed to endorse
in the Light.

Premium MemberA Wilderness of Mirrors

Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it." Unknown
**************************************************************

A Wilderness of Mirrors

Hurled in a wild wilderness of mirrors
I know not the exit door for escape,
All I can do is like birds to twitter,
Light from the mirrors seems at me to ape.

Where lies the real door I cannot know,
Some gate may lead to edge of precipice
Some may fling the frame of my mind to blow
Some may lead me my journey`s end to miss.

Dark dull devilish thoughts sprout in my mind,
Are bells of doom likely for me to knell!
It`s critical in urgency to find
Before it`s time for me to bid farewell.

In the quietude of the wilderness
I lightly close my eyes to the surrounds
Rein in the wicked woeful waves of stress
And free myself from thoughts turning around,

Peering down the depth of my inner self
I spot my inner light greeting a gate,
Winking to me the door that`ll lead myself
To the path of truth as laid in my fate.

the US election

The USA Election

The near future is catching up
the American presidential election
is looming

This time, there is talk of a woman,
who has charmed many with her
furious laughter

The mystery is that she has no plan
on how to rule, other than revert
to socialism and spend more money

And there is a formidable man, a survivor
of two assassination attempts, the sane
hopes will win

He, the grizzled old fighter, has on his
side two knights of the realm, who
will try to change America

One of them will tackle a colossus
identity, the pharmaceutical industry
tame it until usefulness

The knight, well past his youthhood
has a glorious family background
shining bright in recent history

The younger knight, an entrepreneur
is, on a mission impossible, to rein in
his country's enormous debt

How the young knight, is going to
stop the economic leakage; we shall
skeptically watch his endeavor

Expectations

I received a comment on my post
I attempt exposure once again
Shall I perish by others' words?
Rein in heartbeats like a strict handler
Or ride the bronco bareback?

Awakened from depression on hope
I thought I was free from validation
When will mania be domesticated?
My drama on a fruitless escapade
At least my heart finds its gait

Grounded I have laundry to do
Really I have a house to vacuum
But, a comment on my poetry
Is it coffee or coffers of expectation?
Shall I wait for this present to pass
Wondering if it is critical or in remission?

Can one comment fill an empty day?
Look up to the sky where poetry is born
What’s next behind one encore?
Good poetry comes when vessels are empty
Nature comes to fill the void in a vessel
But one poem is not everlasting H2O
Filling this vassal with eyeballs

Yet when my love returns tomorrow
After 12 days of absence disquieting
My heart skips quietly to a cantor
Keeps my polarities from spinning
Grounds me from prying stares

No poem is constant like loved ones
No comment compares to thee
Contribution is a wild ride
Fingers on the keyboard
Sweating

Premium MemberOn Criticizing Others

Rein in those opportunities to criticize
Think of all the good things to be said
Remember to see through others’ eyes.

Or sometimes simply resort to sighs.
In disagreement, merely shake your head
Rein in those opportunities to criticize.

Be a bigger person, even if you must disguise
Displeasures weighing on you heavy as lead,
Remember to see through others’ eyes.

If you announce your woes, it’s seldom wise,
Sometimes they are better not to be read
Rein in those opportunities to criticize!

Is it that you get joy when someone cries?
How easily you could’ve another’s feelings fed
Remember to see through others’ eyes.

For being disagreeable you’ll win no prize,
Hatefulness and sharp words are best unsaid,
Remember to see through others’ eyes,
Rein in those opportunities to criticize.

Premium MemberAt the Speed of Thought

Thought flight, faster than light,
propelled by heart’s desire,
creates by magnetism,
destiny we aspire,
played out in body prism.

Thought flight, faster than light,
hijacked by our ego,
stifles voice of conscience,
so unless we go slow,
veiled is luminescence.

Thought flight, faster than light,
is yet an instrument,
brought to rein in stillness,
with love in resonance,
ushering blissfulness.

Thought flight, faster than light,
echoing heart’s impulse,
becomes calm and tranquil,
when we so surrender,
letting God do His will.

Premium MemberSo I May Dream

Let us curry favor in dog star's
splendid laughing light
bring the crash of passion's waves
through two arms held tight.

I carry your wishes in love's
knapsack, strapped close
in tomorrow's hope
fashioned in new dawn's
golden charms.

Bring empathy in touch
understanding where
once was none, gone
in sorrow's parting.

Grant me true sight
unbridled, like a child's
reaching song..
your gleam in smile.

Rein in gallop of
heartbeat hooves
grant me sleep
so I may dream.

Pardon me, but I'm new to this Land
I was told to rein in my tongue
Or I'd be called racist and tossed in the can

Pardon me, but I'm new to this Land
I was told in public places not to pray
Unless I'm Muslim, Buddhist or stray* *homeless or
                                                                                   schizophrenic
Pardon me, but I'm new to this Land
I was told the policeman's not my friend
Though I saw one a murderer apprehend

Pardon me, but I'm new to this Land
I was told that I'd never need work
Uncle Sam will pay me all work to shirk

Pardon me, I'm new to this Land
But there is one thing I now understand ~
Why its citizens mock a flag once-so-grand

Premium MemberDreams On Carousel

From the carnival circle race goes off the course
the vintage carousel of bobbing corralled horse,
galloping skyward from the field of fiesta fair
through the music of wind jingling everywhere.

With teen fantasy on ornate steed out of chain,
he holds the rein in the strands of ebon mane,
canters up above the spire of the castle in the air,
far from the meandering rivers on the land bare.

In sprightly strides his reverie climbs the space high
to the conclave of clouds caressing the satin sky.
Returning after merrily going round the land of fairy,
on the carousel of life all his dreams he’ll carry.

Premium MemberA Crystal Gazer's Reach

My life was plagued in darkness
And melancholy was its fodder,
The end not far from sight
My heart bowed to Him
To seek His help, and help did come
In the form of a friend of my youth
Now become a crystal ball gazer
Who took me in her control.

By turning on the magical power
Of the fortune teller that she was,
My friend did unveil the storm deadly
That raged over my past and present
One I loathed the second in ruins
Making me worth a walking corpse.
A warrior's promise to deny
The raging hurricane another victory
She vowed to erase my woes present
And rein in serenity to my life.

Neither deaf to the passion in her words
Nor a disbeliever in my crystal gazer's art
I'd found wings to fly to her magic song,
Was it my rupture with solitude know never will I,
So be it, but let be it known loud and fair
That spared for life I was from despair
Studded like I was a bosom friend in its heart.

Dormant Dreams

If I could rein in yonder cloud

Entwine with love's ethereal rope,

'Pon gossamer, sweet Eros wove

Heaven bound, we'd gaily float

As dormant dreams of bliss, awoke.

Premium MemberSinging the Blues

The old,
think they have license to act, and speak,
without regard for impact.
Ninety plus men, pacemakers working,
claim who if anyone can rein in their words,
spoken without tact.
The young from a different astral plane,
Won't tolerate, or give them such a long rein.
What can possibly unite these,
divergent and unique, one of a kind clan.
Love, fueled by tolerance, the master plan?
Then,
instead of raising noses, and judging,
those who have paid their dues.
The young can laugh and find humor,
in the things that they do.
Better in the long run,
then singing the blues.

This Too Shall Pass

When you are all hemmed in by shadows
and are bogged down by the burden you carry
When your fate conspires to lead you astray,
Rein in your despondency
for this too shall pass.

When you entertain myriad sundry thoughts
and your mind is inflamed with secret mistrust
when you are perplexed with doubtful dilemma,
Keep the flame of hope lit
for this too shall pass.

When has a sprightly stream ever
lingered under the weeping willow?
When have the raging river rapids
ever stopped to rest?
As the robust sun sets
so shall the cold hands of winter retreat,
As the foreboding clouds pass
they bring forth spring.

When the days of your life wear heavily upon you
Be not dismayed whatever betide,
For, this too shall pass.

Summit 2018

The summit 2018

Buenos Aires was and perhaps still is a lovely city
it was here, many years ago I was thought by
a young prostitute to do the tango and other exquisite things.
Right now the city is invaded by a coterie of leaders
from all over the world carving up their interest sphere,
peace talks it is called, and that is ok if they are able
to rein in a Saudi crown prince an upstart who is a killer
dripping of blood spoiling the carpet.
Mind, the nations that supply him with weaponry
are guilty too for the bombing of Yemen, pity Israel is
not on the agenda and they haven`t even got oil.
Soon the show will be over the people can take over
marching in the streets of Buenos Aires, waving flags
of protests about taxes and in the night do the tango

Oil and Conceit

Oil and the conceit

I remember a country called Norway
it was not a rich country, but it was socially fair
and had employment for most people and those
who were not employed had a benefit
that kept them afloat until a job came along.
Then oil came along it was a curse the biggest
merchant fleet in the world was flagged out.
The social cohesion tore the rich became richer
the poor left behind in the wake of the disappearing
A fleet of ships. And slowly almost unseen
the NHS service was replaced with private hospitals
and worst of all the people became arrogant
tried to stop migrants they wanted the wealth for
themselves and didn`t see the country was falling
into chasm self-importance, it was not a becoming
sight, luckily, a bit late in the day, people understand
what they have lost, and there are forces who
tries to rein in excess and bring the ship into the right course
