Naïve Faith

Callow faith walks with wide eyes
In playgrounds littered with stark cunning
When adorned innocence
Seeks to soar where angels fly
Not blinded by fool’s gold
Nor looted by evil’s glittery tinsel
Or minds darkened by drugs of ebony
That plagiarizes honesty
With rationalized temptations
In ravished glamour.

Artless faith, clothed by incorruptible purity,
Shivers when simplicity senses
A wrinkle in infinity -
Guileless belief skirts gullible’s traps
Clothed in a gift of sight.

When beastly motives
Try to sideswipe honesty
With glitz and jewels of paste
Dangling shiny promises with dark underbellies
Naive faith, clothed in discernment,
Sees with candid clarity.

The rose still blooms despite attacks
By mold or mildewed rust
The sun still wakes the dawn
Even when eclipsed
Crowned by a faultless corona
As stars refuse to enter black holes
Faith embraces the innocent.

Premium MemberObjections

The real purpose of the visa tourism
Is the humiliation of the guests
Its “us and them” post tribal atavism
The applicants are treated like suspects
The so called survey list interrogates
Some questions that can't be rationalized
To play a reason to pass through the border gates
Despite prejudice that you are crimnalized
The papers you submit might look suspicious
They may refuse you with “I am not satisfied”
Refunds are not provided, you’re fictitious
And anyway, a fool that tried to lie
It turns to be a huge list of rejections
It gives an argument to blow the world away
But I won’t press that button, waiting for objections
If more objections they would like to say.

FLY HIGH!

‘tis not this scape judgy?
‘lo, prey on the defenseless
short of a chirp, quite rationalized
facets of your twisted facade
the soul degrading you?
despises, despises theeself
thy insecurities shall protrude
thy good and their wrong spotlighted
i won’t get ready for this world
it will get ready for me
let their hearts pound in their chest
cause I’m fighting for those who can’t fight
it’s going the hell down
FLY HIGH! No one but you has lived a second of your life
FLY HIGH! The useless always negatively lie
FLY HIGH! We’ll prove our existence to those who reject it
TO THE SKY! F I G H T !

Premium MemberHow We Are Meant To Learn From Each Other

Our memories will be the roots
In our strong yet delicate foundation.
Our talks will be our parachutes
As we slowly fall into infatuation.

Our fall outs will be rationalized away
As we become each other's voices of reason.
Our voices will soothe us without sway
In our soft-spoken tones, without confusion.

Our individual strengths will shine through
Each and every time we speak or write.
Our hearts will heal and grow on cue
As we learn how to make this all right.

Our memories are the growing roots
Of the tree that symbolizes our romance.
Our souls were meant to overcome all disputes,
Because we are fated to learn this dance.

The Watchers

They stay in the background
stating a useless union still self-centered
powerless, ill-prepared, inept entity of promises,
the verbiage of false hopes with all the dos and donts,

watching, waiting, predicting, and anticipating
 another's demise into servitude rationalized
with lie and innuendo, pseudo promises, outright lie,
 treaties made never intended to be kept;

an envious and jealous desire of possession
over control, land and people, ever transitory
it never seems to end, forgetful of history's lessons
 never once learning the realities of truth;

self-indulgent arrogance and ignorance
 internal self-gratification to be more
bound by useless rhetoric and threat
 and the human race reverts ever backward;

how long do we watch from distant shores?
as humanity fades into the past aggressions
back to the dust and earth in regression
 of time in restart?

Artistry

You have redefined my sexuality
I could never fathom
This is now my reality
The stroke of your hand
Let’s me know you are the only man
Who can fulfill very desire
And ignite this ever searing fire
I reminisce on the days of old
Articulations in the dark
Of secrets I tried to console
Many times I rationalized
To be abundantly satisfied
With this and that guy
Unable to find a solution
And I bleed on the inside...with profusion
So oppressed...because none of them
Could gratify what was deep-seated internally
Your perspective of confidence
Is quite extraordinary
And your dexterity will remain legendary
I have reformulated my carnality
All because of your salacious artistry

By Moon's Light

rains clear
the moon shines bright
facing west
thoughts take flight
with a crumpled pack of cigarettes
judgments muse minor regrets

torrential showers dry my eyes
me and myself judge a shallow I
the past has passed
no future set
judgments squandered with some regret

a new day’s dawn bringeth light
lumination transcends plight
obligations shorn of debt
rationalized sans regret

hand me a key to unlock the sky
I seek the stars in the halo you ply

Premium MemberMerely Choices

Merely Choices

Millions of hugs and millions of kisses are missing
So too those glorious days for reminiscing
Too many balls and too many dolls never played with
Sixty million laughing voices, silenced as merely choices

We now ride with young Willie McBride
But you will never sit at our graveside
For us there are no white crosses, no names upon a wall
No one’s even heard our voices, we are gone as merely choices

No glory, no honor, no eternal flame
No laughing, no crying, no chance at a game
Our demise rationalized as a right
Since we had not a voice, we were extinguished as merely a choice

But we are a living heavenly chorus
Singing out that you might not ignore us
We were butchered on an alter deemed progress
Sixty million silent voices, sacrificed as merely choices

Premium MemberSuddenly Swans

Suddenly black swans
swing like the world
monogamous men
pairing over the brood
for the good of swanciety
while quite suddenly the female-
a threesome
or divorce.

Suddenly “black swans”
change our world
without asking
then take off, quickly
leaving only hindsight

Suddenly Swans Contest Sponsor, Maureen McGreavy

The black swan theory or theory of black swan events is a metaphor that describes an event that comes as a surprise, has a major effect, and is often inappropriately rationalized after the fact.

Un-Mother

I thought it was the rage I feared
underneath my hurt
underneath the pain
of being un-mothered

I pushed down the anger -
rationalized
intellectualized
normalized -
life as a child
with an un-mother

to avoid a rage I feared would destroy me … or her…. or …

a burning, white-hot, fist-punching, legs kicking, eyes blazing, feet stomping, full body rage

how could I not have seen
below the rage?
the tiny steps,
the slumping body,
the hung head,
the heaviness
of grief

a grief for being un-mothered

a grief that threatens to undo me

Oh! if only I had stopped at rage.

Premium MemberSpring

I waited... I surmised
I know I agonized
Of course... I never realized
Springtime was disguised

I pondered... I personalized
I know I criticized
Of course... I never recognized
Spring had improvised

I questioned... I vocalized
I know I dramatized
Of course... I verbalized
Spring had not arrived

I charted... I analyzed
I know I hypothesized
Of course... I never was more surprised
A third Nor'easter materialized

I remember... I fantasized
I know I rationalized
Of course... I never romanticized
That spring would be winterized

Wonderful

We all are curious,
Others call it
Naivety. I am
Disturbed by the
Equivocal interpretations
Rationalized with ignorance.
Faith, a leap to
Understand out beliefs.
Lies, truth, the unknown.

Premium MemberPerception

Tired of all the takers always finding myself surrounded by losers.

Wondering if there are any givers left in this fictional society
we have built ourselves?

Spending too much time reflecting on the limited sight of minds continuously immersed in dribble, gossip, humdrum activities, fanatical escapades, unnecessary violence, politics, reform, and ideology.

Minds that fail to consider the foundation and that everything in their worlds is based on someone else's idea of what should, or should not be.

Not realizing that society is a fantasy that has stagnated and is,
in essence, a fantasy world.

Not changing perspective to rise above the perceived
instead complaining about the mundane.

Yesterday's fiction is today's reality and tomorrow's history to be dissected, picked apart, rationalized and set aside with no real resolution,
answer or insight.

Maybe I am a fixer in need of fixing,

or maybe that's just your perception of me.

Premium MemberSaga City

We added to our concrete
And made life more abstract
We added to our substance
But life had no impact

We scraped the very sky
And built our progress tall, but-
What we fashioned with our minds
Was no progress at all

A rift in Saga City
A fault - unstable ground
We clung with all our might
But now it can't be found

We reduced ourselves to nothing
We built upon the sand
Our handiwork was tested
Our idols could not stand

Blame it on our skill
We rationalized our wrongs
Wisdom could not be fashioned
To God it still belongs

A rift in Saga City
A fault - unstable ground
Our world has split apart
And wisdom can't be found

Wisdon had called out to us
And sought to increase our power
Rejected by our prideful ways
It departed in that hour

Our ways were open unto Him
His justice - it came due
Saga City is now meaningless
Our worst fears have come true

A rift in Saga City
A fault - unstable ground
Abandoned by the lie
Excuses can't be found

Inner Demons

Inner demons tear me apart
Night and day
Today, tomorrow and in the days to come perhaps.
Relentless torment of the soul
Obliterating rational thought
Seeking to show the meanderings and
Peccadilloes of fickle fate
Ennervating desire and drive
Cleverly rationalized by reason
Towards a life of constant strife
Inching steadily to depression
Ornate with self-pity and regret
Notwithstanding the little altruistic acts.
