Along the path of life
                                         An abiding faith lies,
                                    The primrose lines the way
                                Through winter’s harshest wrath;
                                        A vernal lush display.

                                        Along the path of life
                                   Amongst abandoned leaves,
                                     Vibrant, petal gems rise
                                    On mounds of jaded green;

                                     Through fickle April skies.

                                       Along the path of life
                                        Serenity and peace,
                                  Where Lenten Roses bloom;
                                    Evergreen woody stems
                                 Emerging from earths womb.

How To Be Prim

Sit up
But sit back.

Cross your legs
But look relaxed.

Calm down
Even though your pulse is racing.

It's grey tones and red tones
And soft velvet sleeves

Black rimmed glasses are the surface
Of dark water.

A mirror with depth.
A deep glass, a pond.

Look her in the eyes and
Say she isn't worthy.

A heron standing still on
A grey pond on a cold
Winter morning.

Even when your pulse is racing,
Calm down.

Look relaxed,
But cross your legs.

Sit back and
Sit up.

You can be as proper as you like,
But you can never be Prim.

Let's see if I can be prim and proper
Been quite a while on this teeter totter
Can't help myself
Naughtiness dwells
Very strong, I suck it up like a blotter

Prim and Proper

they sat under the apple tree
two little, 4 year olds having fun
could hear there voices tinkling
and a giggle now and then

suddenly all was serious
i could hear the little girl say
thats rude Peter Perkins
in a prim and proper way

he marched off with stern face
i asked her what was said
he wanted to swapsy looksey
that's rude said my uncle Fred.

i smiled and said well done
thinking ...soon she will be a big girl
such thoughts she will overcome
sampling life with a twirl

.
