P-owerful tool wielded by writers and poets
E-choing inner emotions and thoughts in silken words

Poetry does not belong to those who write it, but to those who need it.~Pablo Neruda
A blank page is the bane of all writers.
Examples that are written are blighters.
Frustration would stay.
A word that escapes you for the moment
to capture a perception, you lament.
You should step away.
It has been said that good poetry heal;
it expresses how many people feel;
but others might flay.
If a reader should find it a comfort,
I’ll ignore ever-present discomfort –
I won’t lead astray.
That is right August 18,
Today Is National "Bad" Poetry Day.
To all the writers,
here is your chance.
Write something "Great,"
for the world to read.
How about,
National "Great" Poetry Day???
Remember a rhyme is to rhyme,
not kind of rhyme.
A Limerick is to be a five line funny,
not sad or depressing.
A true writer,
writes from their loving and creative heart.
AI writes,
but has no heart to write from.
Many have told me,
less words are more.
So I am stopping here,
so you can add to my list.
Have fun day writing away....
A human writer needs,
to think and many times rewrite their work.
We put our heart,
creativity and imagination into each piece we write.
AI has stolen,
the creativity and imagination from writers.
The human writer is the true creator,
creator from their human heart.
AI is the great copier,
because they have No heart to write with.
I write for the reader,
I am a human poet all the way.
QUESTIONS POETS AND WRITERS ASK
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On my laptop’s screen, words twist and twine,
I ponder, “Is this plot truly mine?”
With a character's frown,
Will my story break down?
Or will sadness and joy combine?
As I scribble, “What rhymes with orange?”
I chuckle, “Should my hero be foreign?”
With a coffee mug in hand,
And a notebook quite grand,
I wonder, “Should my villain be boring?”
“Is this twist too much, or just right?”
“Will they cheer, or will they take flight?”
With each question I pen,
I just laugh twice again,
For the joy of it all feels quite right!
We poets, writers, misfits of the world
like artist or mystics or troubadours
use our gifts to give insight to others
we offer more pulling back the covers.
We did not fit in with most of our peers.
When young we were often taunted to tears.
We often were quiet in our own zone.
And most of the time you’d find us alone.
We’re awkwardly honest most of the time.
Our minds think rhythmically also in rhyme.
Counting syllables can be frustrating.
Keep the lines in each verse relating.
Through each medium the end is the same.
Sharing our thoughts is the name of the game.
Writers and poets are a different breed
They live and breathe phrases and concepts
Awash with all manner of clever speech
At engaging the reader, they're adept
They invite viewers on travels to distant lands
To discover strange customs and beliefs
To experience a whole new world apart
The Rain Forests, The Great Barrier Reef
Through the eyes of these intrepid travellers
We witness different morals and rituals
Experiences people wouldn't normally view
Many are very sacred and spiritual
Imagine if we didn't have these literary giants
To warn us of mistakes of the past
The Great Depression, the two World Wars
How great nations through history never last
Writers and poets are a different breed
They focus on the ethereal side of being
Flying high above the distant horizons
In a world of unknown and unseeing
True writers write from their heart ~
AI does Not have a heart to write with.
When it comes to poetry
as writers, each of us
has our, line not to be crossed
honesty, is where mine is drawn
don’t care how well a poem is written --
if slick, alone, will never stick in my mind,
find its way to my permanent library of
heartfelt treasures --
nor bar – honesty~ this poet's top-shelf….
I
refuse
to comply
with contests whose
requirements are nigh
impossible, amuse
the contest-setter with my
inadequate and bound-to-lose
creations. An old-school kind of guy,
I hold outmoded, prehistoric views:
am frankly somewhat disinclined to vie
with writers who (I’ll be blunt) abuse
the edicts handed from on high,
namely, poets pay their dues
(so call me due-or-die),
not with modern ruse,
but rather by
songs whose blues
defy
cues.
Times
Times, where starting the present and the contemporary time?
When will the present and contemporary times start?
Times, oh centuries, decades. Passed lives are the passed times
I love the past for looking at my life,
the ancient age is the monochrome fate
My life won't taste the past to remember the life
I want to live in the king's time in the Memory of the Silver Time
It was a great time, the memory is my mental country in my mind
I want to live in the black and white photo, and the sepia, forgotten life
I just want to live in XIX. And at the earliest of the history life
Noble age, great minds, poets, writers, pulling me the souls far
I dropped my life
I want to be born again.
In 1900.
Writers love their letters,
letters turn into words.
Words turn into sentences,
waiting to be read.
Poems come from writing,
writing about the past.
Maybe from the present,
maybe true or false.
As a faithful reader,
we laugh we cry.
Many love to read,
yet again and again.
The reader and writer,
then become as one.
Both in love with,
letters-words-sentences-reading.
Their tender verses come to mind now and then.
They bring a smile, or pain the heart deep within.
Each fading from our minds, sadly, passed and gone.
Poets, Connie's, Milton's, Harry's, words live on.
Dedication to three wonderful writers
we knew and loved. Long live their
Poetry, and Legacy. Their Poetry are
kept alive in our hearts and mind.
Connie Marcum Wong, Harry Horseman,
and Milton Hankings. Will never be
forgotten. If you're new to Poetry Soup
I recommend you look up these writers,
and read their much loved Poetry...
There is a special man we look up to.
Writing great poems on Poetry Soup.
His Limericks put a smile on our face,
being from the great UK, his birthplace.
His adventures at Milton's Creek thrill us.
They are gripping tales to read, and a must.
The Master of story telling is he.
Writing awesome Poem's to enjoy and read.
Sharing his feedback, he gives you his best.
His much valued comments, always impress.
He's been to some Countries, with his Dear wife,
and shares his adventures, about his life.
Soon peace in Ukraine, He wants and supports.
Crimes against Putin, in a Ukraine court!
Many followers that look up to him,
are so privileged to call him their friend.
I know your asking yourself, who's this man?
Our beloved Poet, Tom Cunningham.
In your comments
You are all Special...
we write as if it is our last night
we write whether it be with lead or ink or typed
we write alone or in a crowded environment
we write come rain or sunshine
we write because we want our stories to be told
we write through every phase; it is universal
we write even if our voice is never heard
we write when we are loved and when all hope is lost
we write regardless of our social class
we write because it feels wrong to stop
we write because it helps connect us
we write because we are all writers at heart
we write until our last breath on earth
