Yes, I like honesty. I like to at least feel the poem. Too many crazy words or ‘ness, ‘ings, and the like, or just so jumbled you can’t understand it or over the head, etc.. makes it tedious and boring. Wrong rhymes, meaning lazy rhymes, I just want to move on. I love a good haiku, thought out, not boring. Still there is a learning curve!!!!!

So well put! Thank you. "...to, at the least, feel a poem" -- for that, a poem must strike an honest cord of real vibration. Love it!

We all should stick to honesty, not as poets alone but as human beings. Writing bombastic verse alone is not enough. Unless there is honesty or sincerity of expression or openness in the emotions expressed, no poem will find a place in the reader's heart. Dear Joe, I can sense what you really mean.

Honesty is so important. But maybe in satire a poem would not use it. But I get what you mean. Your last line says it all

Hi Andrea; satire should be honest also -- It depends on the reason for the satire -- if its just to look cut, smart (lesser ego), then it is dishonest.

dear Joe, i feel like somehow in every poem , if we really read we fine honesty within their words, as what we write often defines us, or resembles what we have within, a poem that is written in a dishonest manner for me is one that is maybe ai generated or more. Theres so many ways to perceive and respond to your words woven here, but i can say, as a reader, i see honesty through your sincere writes! Pleasure visiting you today! This is a fave for me! Sending you light always

Absolutely, we are all different. But one can write honest fantasy, and facts can still be dishonest...facts, even truth can be dishonestly used. Honesty is like absolute truth...we can only give an honest effort.
