POETIC JUSTICE

POETIC JUSTICE

To me, what really is poetic justice?
It's the realm I unlock my muse & sayings.
Poetic justice is unleashing magical piece
that set creativity plain like in matrix;
By that, almost nothing goes amiss.
It's like standing on a precipice.

Ironically, somethin' definitely will miss.
But certainly not my punchlines,
Figures of speech & poetic device.
Poetic justice is like artistic paintings.
It's the finished product of the wright,
This is when I also "set things write!"
Methinks I did justice tonight.
Infinito, justice certainly served right!!!

POET'S NOTES
With her monoku, Marlene 'Mountain' Morelock Wills (1939–2018), challenged the idea that haiku must consist of two juxtaposed images. I explore parallelism as a possible poetic device in this monoku, as well as a form of internal rhyme.

Besides the obvious meaning of "broken" (to break), "morning is broken" is an example of a contronym:

Now, as an adult, I realize that the use of “broken” in the expression “Morning has broken” is most closely related to breaking through a barrier, out of a throng, or through a surface. In fact, Merriam-Webster clusters it there: “to come into being by…bursting forth.”

Know me?
          Not even close ...
If I were to write about ANYone that I had "issues" with

It would be to them directly
Not hidden in poetic device or analogy
My use of metaphor is for ambiguity and generalization

(Or events and people in the past)
Not hiding my sentiments about contemporaries
Don't assume that I care enough about hateful, contrary people

To waste any time on creative tapestries about them
There is far too much negative and hate in this world already
Without me seeking it out in those bent by its ire

Love and kindness and understanding
Are the only worthwhile human pursuits
And all I truly care about

Not petty personal peeves
Know me? Not even close ...
     But please, GET to ...

None of us have too many friends ... or too much love!

A Moment's Difference

 free verse with poetic device

Having just disembarked from a date with death
on the water, time’s gateway forked for a moment.
Was it the mere dropping of an oar?
or perhaps an encounter with storms?
more milestones, maybe a meeting with the Master?

What purpose was there for extending my life?

Underwhelming thought - a single moment in time.
An irresponsible, selfish person with evil intent -
stabs at significance without a thought, without a care
for whom she hurts or whose lives are changed. OR

Breathtaking thought - a single moment in time,
A responsible, noble human being can create hope
by presiding over, planning for, defining...
inviting the power of the moment.

I chose the latter, went back to school and
became a school teacher to make a difference.

Come

 dramatic monologue

come
come quickly
come, spotless Bridegroom

come, Lord
come fill our thirst
come, gift your bride with peace

come and conclude your covenant
come, declare your earthly kingdom
come, show your power over death

even so,
Lord Jesus, come

Emotion

Emotion is my strength
I shall not fret
He makes to sit with feelings in deep thought
At a high realm
He leads me beside the shore of flowing thoughts
Of creative composition
He leads me in the path of literature
For his name’s sake
Yea, though I walk through the solitary
Place of poetry
I will not lack feelings
For he is with me
Poetic device and literary terms, they comfort me
And he made me appreciate literature
