students drop their guns
in the box… laughter… singing…
playgroup is starting
A clover’s lucky leaf,
in Contract Bridge a table,
ia playgroup of two couples, usually of opposite gender
with riches an auspicious fold,
second in a power series based on two,
the sum of non-opposable digits on a hand,
in religion one past trinity
and half the lines in this ramble.

Animal cracker soup
Full of sugar and goop
Served it to my playgroup
When one kid let out a whoop
The animals had started to grow
They'd filled the insides of each bowl
In a flash, all the bowls overflowed
Then that same kid said, "Watch out below!"
On the floor were a bear and a lion
Which really set my playgroup to crying
In a voice deep and low, the bear growled "Hello"
The kids raced out the door; they were flying
My own feet seemed glued to the ground
'Till that lion let loose quite a sound
Next thing I know -- all my kids on my bed
Peals of laughter and smiles all around
Whenever I see a rainbow it always makes me smile
I love to admire their natural beauty for many a while
What will I find at the end of a rainbow -
it won’t be a crock of gold that much I know!
I seek neither fame nor tremendous wealth
For I am extremely rich, as I possess good health
Good health is something that cannot be bought
I know from experience, it’s not a lesson that is taught
So you won’t see me chasing rainbows to find a pot of gold
But I will rejoice at their stunning beauty until I’m very old

Dedicated to the memory of my lovely friend Josie who passed away on 20th January 2016 the logo of her pre-school playgroup was a rainbow
Today the beach yeilded giant coccoons and huge mussels
Massive butterfly coccoons made of fairy-floss sea fibre..
Coccoons of fine silk thread like seaweed spun tumbling
The shore breathing in and out with the gentle white noise waves
Huge mussells left gaping open marrooned on the wet sand.
A small playgroup is gathered on a flying kites for morning tea.
The toddlers squealing enthusiastically at the colourful kites
Yellow red and blue kites rose higher circling towards the sun
Seagulls swarmed near the dog bowl drinking its fresh water
A woman pushing a dog in a pram walked towards the beach
A man pushing a pram with a dog on a lead walked by...
Peering out from his pram was a dog too.."too old" said he.
