Go Tell It

In a space reserved for not thinking
a TV blames itself for telling lies to you.

It's another fake cathartic moment.
A wall clock coughs into its hands,

Mouthing a bullet proof prayer -
I waggle limbs into more natural shapes.
Avoid mirrors for a while
until my face settles.

Stamp petulantly
over a not-welcome mat.

The sun has got itself snagged
in shadowy thickets,
a wind sharpens itself
on my nose
perseverance snaps at my heels.

“Go tell it on the mountain”
I speak this uplifting line
while grimacing through a snarl.

Shouldering an invisible load,
climbing a medium-sized mediocre hill.

It takes a whole metaphorical day
just to climb it halfway.

Pause, take a breath.

Try to remember, try to forget,
Try walking backwards for a while.

      Drown piffle,
 petulantly trying to
             rise;

      Fish rushing
 against the stream
          extant
        and well.

Friendly Fire

“Friendly Fire”

I was writing
when death came
like the sound of
clouds cracking open
the sound like all 4
horses, hooves kicking
in windows, stenographically
speaking like a scream,
my world shattered, the sound
like wanton sirens piercing
the unassuming quiet,
my hands were on fire then,
the keys melting into
the nerve ending of it all
as I punched holes
in the air like some
ticketmaster casually
strolling aisles married to
time racing petulantly
on some
runnaway train
I passed windows
that were not open
with my belly
in my throat
I heard the whisper
of it all
the soft banter
as I fell through
the floors

"you know",
they say,

"friendly fire,
this has happened before"

last thoughts
as I tap it all out
dancing through it all
like a fountain nibbed
sword

I am my worst
enemy

but then,
aren’t we all?

Summer Stillness

Summer pastes
Reddened complexion
Stars twinkle through
Darkness vividly
Lightening closes in
Red tones spectrum
Lonely star shoots
Westward, quizzically
And stillness overcomes
The night's welcome glory

Night creates
With golden symphony
A dew drop falls
From a solitary leaf deflection
Squirming in sparkling
Triumphant nativity
While laughing brightly
In pleasuring suspension
As summer's morning
Rambles petulantly

SHELLS STARTED IT

my brain is lackadaisical
it does not want to think
put words together
find a theme.

my eyes wander petulantly
about the room like a lost bird
looking for a place to lite
a nest of soft moss to dream.

let my dreams do the work
I choose the shells stacked in vases
my thoughts wash over them like the sea
they sing of poor drown sailors.

Dylon Thomas visits my thoughts
with Rosey Probert and the sea captain
blind, remembering her delights
naming those he left behind in Davy Jones

the shells carried me there
into his poem Under Milk Wood
but all I see is the sea and the captain
hauled up on shore like an old boat.

they sing in tinkling
sand scraping voices
the long dead shells shined
between fingers trying to grab

the feeling of the sea
with gull skimming waves
and foam rumoured to be unicorns
trying to return at last to the green land.

my thoughts are moon-calf now
totally drawn away from my mind
sailing free beyond me, leaping through
the foam and blue of sky or sea.

The Wild Winds - Not the Williwaw

As the screaming Sirocco swept the sands,
Suffocating the Shiekh's Sixth Sick Sheep,
It's sister, Simoon, soon sought to strike
The sweat-suffering Sultan's sweet sleep.
Then came the Khamsin, and Calima, too,
- Dust-devils, Diabolos, Lavaan, Loo!

Angered, Aeolos, King of the Air,
Council called up with him in chair
Boreas, Euros, Fair Favonius,
Zesty Zephyr, alll were there

With solemn, sullen, scowl he said:
I'll rout these rascals, send you instead.

The howling hot-heads harassed no more
As the Aeolian Airs soothed the Shiekh's sandy sore!

(At his point I petulantly wind up my windy verbiage -
As continuing ceaselessly and adamantly with unending alliteration would surely end in gibberish and garbage)

Pain-An Addiction

I am reduced to a fraction...by the force of the friction...
& pain has become my only addiction...!
Tears,tears & only tears...
Have befriended me all these years...!

The silence of loneliness or the loneliness of silence...
Have made me insane..crippled each sense...
Even the breathes enquire me time & again...
As to why I'm living in this acute pain..!

My heartbeats were never so rude to me...
They are abusing me so petulantly...
They wish to escape the burden of my heart...
Knowing they would never have another fresh start....!

Every second of my life passe s painfully....
Trampled by Time so ruthlessly...
Sometimes I hear my rebel voice...
That a one-time-death will be a better choice...

Yeah better because I die again & again..
Succumbing to the drafts of pain..
Although it is an addiction...
Each day is a painful addition...!

But wait-a-minute,how will I kill my heart..
Where she stays like a pivotal part..
Only to save her presence in me...
I have to live,& die, painfully...!

Breathe laden islands rise and fall
beneath the steam graced surface of clear water,
capped with rosettes, red-brown, silken, warm,
beaded with water running in rivers
down mountainsides of flesh, puddling,
in the darken depression of navel.

The water rises, about kneecaps
pristine and alabaster in hue.
Angular shoulders hug the far end of the tub.
A slender neck held aloft, crowned with auburn hair
and hazel eyes, changling orbs, of green and gold
an a oval face rivaling Modigliani’s Madonna.

A ruddy glow spreads across high cheekbones.
The rising water submerges all,
but porcelain neck and upturned face,
tendrils, tresses, coil, splay on still water.

Lids droop languidly, lips pout petulantly,
and still the water rises
buoying delicate arms, ending in fingers
...avidly playing.. upon
the pearl white key to desire.

as the water invades, buoying delicate arms,
lending slip to fingertips, fingerstips
...avidly playing.. upon
the pearl white key of desire.

You perforate my normality
with snap-shots of the past.
Images of yesteryear form
a slide show which interjects,
dove-tailing, sneaking in to
the now with the stealth of
the stealthiest fox.

Distracted from the present
my mind meanders down-stream,
pausing at a bridge arched over now
and then. Remembering when I was younger,
carefree, flitting between hearts,
scattering the lovelorn in my wake
like sown seeds, lost, never harvested.

Then flippancy of youth. The transience.
Easy come easy go -
before the burden of emotion takes its toll.
My fickle fingers touched your heart -
then dropped it, hot potato-like;
craved for then petulantly discarded,
out of fashion, gone, onto the next .....

Yet here you are merging then with now.
You found me somehow, and I you.
Back to the future. Time travelled
and catapulted into familiarity.
The perforation of normality.
Present in the present with the steel
of the steeliest fox.
