Peru

As more than a few
flew to Peru
to peruse the view
who knew
or had a clue
what a man's to do
in the cerulean blue
but stand in the queue
to use the loo
and if you go too
or tootle on through
in lieu of a zoo
you're due to accrue
sights of a llama or two
in Machu Picchu

Macchu Picchu

Dawn Winter solstice
awakens Machu Picchu
Peruvian new year~

A wondrous celebration
Blessing triumphant rebirth.

Premium Member My Blue Butterfly

In closed eyes
I see her
all her beauty
Like a butterfly she is, surrounded in her cocoon
In time she will emerge
New
Her protective layers vanished to reveal herself to me
Loving, kind

Our wings, speckled with glitter, blue in display, take flight to dance our way down through the green lush jungle together~
life adventures, floating through the air together as it’s meant to be
My blue butterfly }{

Chimbote Peru

Chimbote Peru

I was a pilot on a transport plane when
it landed in Chimbote I worked for a small air transport
company “Vanilla Air” who accepted med despite
I wore glasses when waiting for cargo back to Rio
walked around the town. At a café, I met a well-rounded woman
and sparks flew between us, she, Sophia was the widow
of train master who had accidentally been run over by his own train,
The pension she got from the state was paltry.
at the hotel, she told me her dream was to go to America and
I confessed my wish to write like Hemingway.
We had a few lovely days together, but then the company rang
the cargo was ready to be shipped to Rio.
The co-pilot had disappeared, and I had to navigate and fly solo,
the plane was old and overloaded it took long to get high enough
to fly over the Andes. (Douglas 47type of air-craft)
In Rio I had a few beers and thought of Sophie, a love story was
over there no sequel.

The Girl From Peru

There once was a girl from Peru
Who really wanted to be a kangaroo,
so she hopped up and down
in her frilly night gown
and ended up in the loo!

Premium Member Stygian Doubts-The Catacombs of Saint Francis, Lima, Peru

The rottenness of it all is no less foul for having been bleached white. This is the conclusion I come to. I walk with a scarf covering my mouth through the dimly lit catacombs of the faithful. The arched ceiling holds a dangling string of incandescent bulbs which cast a sickly yellow glow on my shoes and the cavities full of thighbones. “Why are all the bones the same,” I ask. The guide smiles. “Tens of thousands of heaven seekers wish to be buried here. There’s only so much room,” he said. “Even today people pay for holy ground.” Ghostly, armless, rib-less, headless, specters seem to rise un-braced, oh the indignity of it all. I picture them searching for the missing parts of themselves. I sneeze through my paisley scarf, stumble back; back, following the arrows in reverse, seeking the way out; just as frantically as they had sought the way in. The rest of the group trudges on; after all, they had paid their coin to Charon.

Premium Member Lima, Peru

Lima has a pulse
arterial and venous it flows…
all the colors of the rainbow glow
in the mist of Pacific sea's
hectic days and disco nights
beat into the sand at the ocean's lea.

Lima's life flows
from Palacio de Gobierno ...
in measured meter from the fountain glow
amidst a Catholic sea
spirits rise of the children of the sun
cleansed of their faith by papal decree.

Lima wealth flows
its chic denizens prance baroque boulevards
	barricaded behind razor wire's show
life for the wealthy addressee
distanced from the hovels of El Salvador
and the festive strum of the mariachi.

Lima has a pulse
arterial and venous it flows...
as buses disgorge invaders, colorful, slow
Shamanism lies in a Catholic sea
proud, head held high, clinging to He
beat into the sand at the ocean's lea.

Premium Member Who Knew-Peru

There once was a flawed broad named Maude
who wished to spend Christmas abroad
she ate Christmas dinner
with penniless sinners
for that was all Maude could afford.

Well ole Maude brought them black tea from China
and chocolate cakes from a diner
they ate guinea pig
and many a fig
while Maude poured them wine from Carolina.

Yes you've guessed it, I see that you knew
in Peru they eat Guinea Pigs in stew
they wear colorful hats
and watch out for black bats
Maude's dinner will be in Cusco, Peru
