2024
Finally, New Year Eve has arrived.
I must be quick to make up my mind,
To delete, remove and let go of all the Apps he installed,
The things he said, the messages he sent, the words he wrote,
The happiness he created, the work he helped,
The troubles he made and the pain he caused.
Within a brief encountering of 6 months,
A fun filled relationship,
A sweet memorable friendship,
Turned to bitterness and nightmare.
My head said: remove, delete and quit.
My heart sank and cried no tears.
Nothing to say, to write or to hear.
Soon, apart, we all shall be happy.
That was what I hope at least.
What does he think? Nothing and nothing.

Ten mile peninsula in Queens, N.Y.,
nighttime jetties of moonlight white caps,
waves rising and ebbing.
My grandfather walking with me on the
daylight shore so many summers ago.
My dreams of Rockaway unfaded.
Watched the WTC twin towers being built
through binoculars.
Rockaway, in my soul's nostalgia
you still beckon.
Salted lips quenched by Coca-Cola.
The youth within me can still hear
the seagulls calling in the breeze,
and still see the amusement park
under 4th of July fireworks.
Dada, I miss you and Rockaway.

fixed
dreaming eyes
heading towards long iland.
the sitting lady:- i like your shoes, they must be comfortable.
the standing lady:- they are.
how about yours?
& looks down at the lady with the pink shoes.
- mine sweat, &smell like strawberries.
the lady with the pink crocs takes photos of other people's shoes,
suddenly
jumps like bitten by a snake
screaming
- open the door, open the door,
i go the other way.

The NY EBS
There is talk of war.
There is rumor and propaganda.
There is concern and worry.
No one wants to die.
No one wants to die,
for no reason at all.
Where is the positive
in that death,
the "heroic" story... ?
There is none, and will never
be any, except the misery, and pain
without gain for any man, or woman... alive.
Commercials on the air,
New York despair,
put your head down, to the ground...
as you hear the pound, pound, pound!
While you are there...
pray for one another,
and before your last breath include
peace among and for ALL!
Duck and cover in the 50s
seems like child's play now.
All the players are all grown up.
They have become big fish too,
in their small freshwater ponds
scattered around the world.
Size matters because a splash felt there,
will be felt here, before the end of days.
No one will escape.
There are no survivors,
only the remainders,
on their knees before God.
Asking not for mercy,
as they know it is far beyond that point,
racking up the number they killed.
Asking instead for grace, in desperation,
before the nations fall to the dogs.

Ilene was on her morning walk
When she saw a grandfather clock
But something was wrong!
The clock had no dong!
It was a replica Tik Tok!

OSWEGO, NEW YORK
The summer sun was setting
and the urban landscape
where the river flowed north
into the last Great Lake settled
into quiet, the working class burghers
and their beautiful families finally
relieved of endeavor and stress
The northwest breezes caressing the
waters turned reflected street lights
into shimmering diamonds that made
the city seem rich under a golden blue,
orange blue, cobalt blue sky, then black
sky and quiet, a hint of prayer and
promise and a community finally at rest,
the kind of Saturday night that a
Sunday morning deserves

From NYC To Kansas.
.
Little Angel’s off to Kansas
To Grandma's house
It sure is a long way
I’ve only driven two blocks
And its took me all day
.
I hope I get there real soon
I’m tired and I promised her
I’d be their by the afternoon
.
I packed some lemonade
And candy bars I hoped
Would last all day
But I got hungry from peddling
And ate them on the way
.
It’s nearly time for bed
I better turn the other way
And try to get to grandma’s house
Another day.

Placated and simply set free
In NY it's a matter of degree
Bail's not always necessary
They didn't harm, only robbed
how terrible could that be
Felons will be back at your door
looking for more,
of what you worked for
No longer detainees
it's almost guaranteed
they'll take what they please
Pols want you to appease
and forgive the sleaze
just give them keys
But, you might eschew PC
and leniency
after losing all that you had

Taxied to the terminal. The fare paid,
vagrants begged for alms, some too drunk to care.
Shrunken faces, weather beaten, they played
a sad tune of which I was unaware.
Some had the means, even possessed the fare
to transport them to towns with better care.
I passed the huddled poor, stepped on the bus,
took my seat at a window facing west.
Soon, the highway’s open arms greeted us.
No longer stranger, a solemn house guest.
Believing the ride would force me to test
my endurance, I slept. I’m not a pest.
Vegas came, sponged every cent from my purse.
Should have listened to the driver. He knew
how slots are rigged; still, could’ve been much worse.
Could’ve sold my soul since winners are few.
Back on the bus, we zipped through burgs so new
to me, I ticked them off my map on cue.
Three days passed. Felt like a tree that was felled.
Then I saw my love. So nice to be held.

Their sandwich aesthetic motif
Will thrill the palate beyond belief
Try the pastrami
For a taste bud tsunami
Or order Katz Deli's corned beef
Author's Note: No trip to NY is complete without visiting Katz Deli. BTW, a scene from when Harry met Sally was filmed there.
The food is unbelievable, and the experience is pure NY (a bit chaotic). It is also open 24/7 so there is no excuse to miss this one. I would say, to my friends, that it will be more memorable than the Statue of Liberty, Empire State building, etc. Please do not make a mistake and bypass this multicultural experience if in NY.
