Ides of March
In triumphant days, when ambitions surpass;
cowering in the throng of democracy
before the Senate, Caesar pled, “Show mercy!”
Love doesn’t conquer, but vengeance will.

Note:
According to the ancient Roman calendar, March 15 is the “Ides of March,” and was the day in 44 BC when Julius Caesar (100 BC-44 BC) was assassinated.
“Ides” come from the Latin word meaning to divide, and in the old Roman calendar, referred to the day in the middle of the month (the 15th day of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day for the remaining months). The Romans used the “Nones” (ninth day before the Ides), “Ides” (middle of the month), and the “Kalends” (first day of the month) to calculate other dates.
Life is ups and it's downs,
it's shorts and it's longs
It's crooks and it's straights,
it's rights and it's wrongs
It's emptys and it's fulls,
it's hots and it's colds
It's nows and it's thens,
it's youngs and it's olds
It's darks and it's brights,
it's hards and it's softs
It's evers and it's nevers,
it's onces and it's ofts
It's goods and it's bads,
it's dirtys and it's cleans
It's happys and it's sads,
it's nices and it's means
It's alls and it's nones,
it's belows and it's aboves
It's hugs and it's kisses,
it's hates and it's loves
It's beginnings and it's endings,
it's slows and it's fasts
It's questions and it's answers,
it's firsts and it's lasts
It's rounds and it's squares,
it's befores and it's afters
It's ins and it's outs,
it's tears and it's laughter
It's all of these things rolled up in a shell
So have yourself a good one, and I wish you well

This marvel of the medieval mind
was sitting on (they were appalled to find),
nine hundred-year-old spongy, soggy logs.
And, year on year, it sagged a little more.
As fissures felt their way around the font,
and lancet windows listed to the west,
so flawed at lauds, and worse at terce for sure:
now none at nones was feeling nonchalant.
The church was sinking slowly to its rest.
One foot in the bedroom
one foot out of the door
seems relationships
are too much hassle today
and no one wants
a loving relationship
any more.
You give your best
your hopes built up
and then shot down in flames
emotions and feeling
amount to nothing
neither does your name.
I don't want a disposable relationship
I'm nones plaything or toy
I'm me I have a heart brain and personality
but no one wants that or me.
So I remain disillusioned
lost and alone,
as ever.
