Light throbbing in the heart of darkness
Shakes its density and solidity
Dawn lengthening towards morning
Mops up darkness slowly
Shadows vanish
In its brightness
It rubs them off the bodies
Of men and furniture
Lion, camel, orangutan and tiger;
Light focused on cave
Clears the obscurities
Light of reason removes
The stumbling blocks of superstition
Light of knowledge conquers ignorance
Light of conscience deals with narrowness
Pushing it towards broadness and righteousness
Light broadens the narrow space of the heart
Leads it towards benevolence
Pride and prejudice, niggardliness vanish
With the white purity
Of the effulgent Divine light
The light of lights!
It hovers round us
Flashes with higher consciousness
In search of us groping in the dark
Near us comes it giving chance to embrace
Sure it is that we move pulled towards it
Let that light grace us towards fulfillment.

As the holy season commemorates revelations of scriptures,
Sacred flame burning within, reinvigorates soul’s intellect,
Steering away from the fallible, toward realms of perfect,
Away from servitude of wealth, to caring for less-fortunate;
Empowering wisdom, vying sapience of enlightenment,
Inspiring collaboration in sanctity of spiritual exchange,
Rejecting overtures nescient, engaged in narrowness,
That confine humanity in fallacies unwitting, misguided.
In domains of self-reflection, repentance, and forgiveness,
Voice of indifference cedes to psalms compassionate,
As defective acts vow to mend ways, yearning for flawless;
Remorseful and empathetic, eying benevolence of solace.
From teachings of awakening, from sagacity of harmony,
Cognitive minds seek insights, transcendent in epiphany,
Propelling life toward enrichment in peace and congruity,
Vying spheres beyond the ordinary, edified in tranquility.
From sanctum of souls, depths of hearts, bells-pious chime,
Tolling expressions of kindness, echoing prayers sublime,
Celebrating precious gift of life, grateful for glory of divine,
As lanterns ethereal guide humanity, through reign of time.

Peace and unity sing in harmony, echoing worldwide,
When acts of humility replace revenge-infused pride,
When narrowness of mind, naked ambitions subside,
When nations of goodwill, stand together side-by-side.
No inconsolable tears, flooding grief in mothers’ eyes,
No gloomy dawns rise, in smoke of war on sunny skies,
Clamors of hungry, displaced souls, no longer agonize;
No more shattered dreams, buried alive, to eulogize.
Nothingness ceases to vacate sanctity of self-esteem,
Children now rejoice, reminiscing in Cinderella-dream,
Vying bliss of tranquil, endearments of amity redeem,
Discarding ill will, shrieking from yore of vicious regime.
Hiroshima, Nagasaki—echoes of sad, remorseful past,
Resonate horror and shock, from memories aghast;
A world without war, a wish too far, yet close to heart,
Achievable when covenants of life don’t keep us apart.
Dignity of humanity ranks supreme, as priorities change,
Nations engage in educational and cultural exchange,
Farms and factories hum, ensuring hunger is eliminated
As peace and unity toll, from hearts and minds elated.

When, like petrified shells, rocks, bones, and skeletons
Narrow thoughts, words, and actions show their elegance
As the swan of fables bisects water from milk
Shouldn't we shred narrowness, though it's, like stones, thick?
The tender caress of the Supreme, like the breeze
Heals us from the ills of vices and makes us ease
May openness fill each tabula rasa head.
Optimism, like prophets and messengers, let's spread
Harmonized, like the rhythm of a melody
We mingle ourselves within cosmic parody.
Like an albatross, we fly on a gratis rein.
We dance with Nataraja, freed from every pain.

Though echo of love returns not
at times, do we yet hold steady,
untying knots that makes heart taut,
for each bout, lovingly ready?
To be always in equipoise,
though echo of love returns not,
by shutting off ego borne noise,
we’re not then in narrowness caught.
Expectations make us fear fraught,
so in mode embrace and release,
though echo of love returns not,
we’re free like the fresh morning breeze.
Let’s define the art of living,
living joyfully as we ought,
each breath loving, freely giving,
though echo of love returns not.

This day
in the deep country, the sky it is high, blue, and vertical,
with no hand holds, nor anything for the eye to cling to.
In the city we don't get 'big sky, we get pencil thin rays
to sweep our dusty ledges, we have elevations
where the sky fades to gray on viewless windows.
Far below, down on the hemmed-in streets
a few trees, stretch, reach like mountain climbers,
In the ghetto, doors clutch at pidgin cluttered roofs.
Mostly
we give no thought to the sheer narrowness of it all;
how the city closes in on itself.
it's no wonder some choose to leap,
rather than foot-slog up an ever-descending
staircase.

a neighbour takes umbrage
at his own narrowness
then vents rage
on us who so witnessed
momentary flicker of flame
there is no judgment and yet
the aspect that so clings
assumes ownership
quite delusional of course
and therein lies the dilemma
we opt to be still
fanning not the fire

The sky has climbed over
its usual low cloud cover,
today it is high, blue and vertical
with no hand holds,
those places for the eye to cling to.
In the city we don't get 'big sky'
we get pencil thin shafts
that sweep the dust off ledges,
we have foot-slogging
staircases and elevations.
where the sky cannot rise beyond
one last viewless window.
Far below
upon those hemmed-in streets
some seem forced to grow
into hybrid creatures
that must suck upon
each other's fears.
There are trees, a few stretch and reach
like mountain climbers,
yet all that high air above us is not reassuring,
it creates a feeling of smallness,
our arms too paltry to grasp the infinite.
Mostly we give no thought
to the sheer narrowness of it all,
and so with only these
manmade clifftops to jump from
it's no wonder some choose to leap.

“Let not narrowness of ego decoy ~
Every delusion, seek, search and destroy”
~ quote by poet
Defined as dislike of foreign races,
xenophobia retards growth of soul,
for we look at outer form of faces
and not God’s light within that makes us whole.
Oh hermit, narrow judgment defaces
our heart, deflecting us from our life’s role,
so let’s look deeper than mind-body form,
invoking by love, a benign bliss storm.
It is not only race, colour or caste
to which our heart reacts with aversion.
Beliefs of others oft leave us aghast;
we pause not to examine their version,
since within our closed minds, the die is cast
and ego fears in clear truth immersion.
Let’s wait not then for the next equinox,
becoming soul centric, here now detox.

How to Become a Fascist
Clan thinking and group thinking are always dangerous
Our loyalty to the group we belong to betrays us
Waving of flags makes us think we have the right on our side
We are blind to the downside of this certainty
We stop considering an alternative, our narrowness
Makes us think other people suffering is their fault
For not following our path of righteousness
When outsiders reject our way, we react with fury
We will, in the name of freedom (ours) and slay
Any opponent as an enemy of our holly values
we say we must protect ourselves against this villainy
our rationale is unconscious fascism.

the king travelled incognito
mixing among the commoners
both delighted and also envious
of how they find joy in simple things
content even in poverty and shortages
and then the king discovered their secret
they were all centred in heart
and not in narrowness of mind
even after garnering this deep knowing
the king was unable to become as such
for he was not yet like Gautama Buddha

The man of my dreams
Is not rich
Nor is he wealthy
Some have teeth made of gold
But he has a heart made of gold
His silence is loud
Speaking with his eyes
Always listening and thinking
Observing
He is beautiful on the outside
But it will never live up to the inside
Insatiable words
Narrow hips
With thighs of steel
He has the sweetest soul
The kindest eyes
The warmest arms
The strongest jaw
You cut your finger from just the touch
The horse voice he gives off
Letting you know when he's close
The rough hands that stayed glued to your body during the night
The deep labored breaths as you both reach the end together
The sound of his laugh
That penetrates your soul
Making you wonder how could you ever live without that sound
The narrowness of his hips
Those lips that kiss and eat you like your a full course meal on a silver platter

If we but cease to cling
to that that comes and goes,
simply by being still,
all’s enabled if we
surrender egoic will.
If we but cease to cling
to thought forms that appear,
we offer no anchor
to any narrowness
and are free from rancour.
If we but cease to cling
to this decaying form,
which though shaped from earth’s crust,
is being breathed by God,
we see all is but dust.
If we but cease to cling
to conditioned belief,
then we’re free from judgment,
living here breath by breath
thus, moment to moment.
