Helplessness

the king travelled incognito
mixing among the commoners
both delighted and also envious
of how they find joy in simple things
content even in poverty and shortages
and then the king discovered their secret

they were all centred in heart
and not in narrowness of mind

even after garnering this deep knowing
the king was unable to become as such
for he was not yet like Gautama Buddha

Beautiful, Seeker. I love 'they were all centered in heart, not in narrowness of mind.'

That was vanity, this is a mind-heart gap, rooted in identity

neither the King nor the commoners can ever fulfill the expectations of the religions of the world ...my first thought after reading

Religion is a directional indicator at best. Happiness lies within, in the heart centre but we are bemused by mind. Hence descent by surrender from head to heart is needed.
