Peace and unity sing in harmony, echoing worldwide, When acts of humility replace revenge-infused pride, When narrowness of mind, naked ambitions subside, When nations of goodwill, stand together side-by-side. No inconsolable tears, flooding grief in mothers’ eyes, No gloomy dawns rise, in smoke of war on sunny skies, Clamors of hungry, displaced souls, no longer agonize; No more shattered dreams, buried alive, to eulogize. Nothingness ceases to vacate sanctity of self-esteem, Children now rejoice, reminiscing in Cinderella-dream, Vying bliss of tranquil, endearments of amity redeem, Discarding ill will, shrieking from yore of vicious regime. Hiroshima, Nagasaki—echoes of sad, remorseful past, Resonate horror and shock, from memories aghast; A world without war, a wish too far, yet close to heart, Achievable when covenants of life don’t keep us apart. Dignity of humanity ranks supreme, as priorities change, Nations engage in educational and cultural exchange, Farms and factories hum, ensuring hunger is eliminated As peace and unity toll, from hearts and minds elated.

I missed this one while ill, my friend. It is a dandy. I hope it is a winner in the contest! Oh, what a day it would be, for the words of this poem to become our reality. This is a world as it was intended to be. Love, hope, and cooperation as for as the eye can see. Listen world! is my plea. Thanks for sharing these beautiful words of hope through your amazing poetry, Vijay. Have yourself a joyful day. Bill p.s. Yes, another FAV for my list!

Vijay, I am thrilled that you cited Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Many in USA do not want to accept that bombing those civilian targets was not ethical. Nothing has really changed since then. When we can view others as sub-human, have no empathy, and feel entitled to take what we can by force, the result is what we have now. Your poem is beautiful.

A poem written in so many contrasts. I once saw a map of the world which is coloured red to show where war is taking place. It was almost covered with red. Great poem though.

Selfishness overpowers generosity. Being in a world where all stand together, that takes sacrifice and humility. Maybe one day we can live in a place filled with peace, understanding and unconditional love. Your thoughts caress gently around me and my heart. My best to you, Vijay. Hugs, Brandy

What a profound and meaningful poem this is dear vijay, its always so good to read your poems and this one here flows with so many truths that are soul hitting really: i love the rhymes and cadence of your lines and how well crafted this poem is, your reference to some past wars that were haunting too is impeccable and powerful! I felt so many lines but the cinderella dreams of children and the last stanza stood out for me thas most along with “ A world without war, a wish too far,” FAVE! Luv it

Wars achieve nothing and just cause destruction and death. If only people would love and respect each other what a wonderful world it would be. Well written Vijay. Good luck in the contest. Tom

You've eloquently described a world without war. You've also hinted at some of the causes of war (narrowness of mind, naked ambitions). I felt such peace as I finished your poem, believing that a unified, peaceful world is possible. Best wishes with the contest, Sara

This poetry entry for the contest is exemplary, as it not only sheds light on important issues but also delves deep into them. The poem beautifully expresses a desire for peace and unity in a world plagued by discord. It advocates for nations to participate in educational and cultural exchanges, to eradicate hunger. The imagery of farms and factories working harmoniously contributes to the overall message of joy and unity stemming from a peaceful mindset.

Great take on the contest Vijay.. Your poem eloquently captures the yearning for peace and unity in a world marred by conflict and division. It begins with a vision of a world where peace and unity resonate worldwide, where acts of humility replace pride and nations of goodwill stand together in solidarity...

"naked ambitions subside, When nations of goodwill, stand together side-by-side." Naked of all self centered ambitions -- more universal. "No more shattered dreams, buried alive, to eulogize." From your lips to ears of all hurting nations my friend. "Discarding ill will, shrieking from yore of vicious regime." Let these wise and positive vibrations sing across the internet! Nations engage in educational and cultural exchange, Farms and factories hum, ensuring hunger is eliminated As peace and unity toll, from hearts and minds elated." Wonderful write! Blessings....
