We heard their hooves twenty minutes before they appeared
stallions and mares rounding the corner of the world at break leg speed
blur of  red, black and gray wild mustangs, free to roam the plains
Wyoming’s finest specimens, some sixteen hands high

giant powerful wildebeests disappeared as rapidly as they appeared.
will never forget those strained necks or those

Coats of shimmering autumn,
pied shadows, blinding snow
Time and mist have scribbled fear
into the sinews

Where Mustangs Run Wild and Free

So free

all the mustangs

running wild in the plains

side by side as they neigh

In my dream I rode one like a cowboy

I wish I could spirit away

to the beautiful plains

where mustangs run

so free

Vanishing Mustangs

Nine wild mustangs canter across the prairie
Old West symbols of animals on free range
Known to them is only one adversary

-- Pounding hooves fade into history’s pages

Magnificent specie appears unwary
Victim of habitat infringement and change
Government roundups so unnecessary

Protection not offered, to the contrary
Mustangs captured and sold for slaughter’s exchange
Deaths of entire herds appear arbitrary

Spanish Mustangs On Carova Beach

On this pristine shoreline Wild Mustangs roam,
Over five hundred years it has been their home,
Their beauty and independence deserve our respect,
Their mere presence allows us to connect,

To Colonial times when Mustangs arrived on boats,
With Spanish Path Finders who were exploring the coast,
Of North Carolina shores, the Outer Banks the most,
Some horses were abandoned, others survived

MUSTANGS

In the wide open spaces of Wyoming
Where sheep and horses graze
I took a notion to do some roamin'
And spend at least a few days

The days turned into weeks
The weeks turned into months
I had to go back to take a peek
'Cause I had been there once

In a gorgeous meadow surrounded by hills
Where the deer and the

Mustangs are wild and free 
Always moving forward 
And never turning back 

They run under the sky
And sleep under the stars
As one family

They run though the grass
And swim in the water
Conquering the land 

With the wind in their hair 
And freedom in their eyes
They are mustangs

MUSTANGS

The ground shudders, and shakes,
 Under pounding hooves.
 Echoing against canyon walls.
Fast and furious wild hearts beat,
Keeping equal pace, with the prairies,
 Wide divide.
From within hell's fiery furnace,
Tempered muscle drives motions sinew.
Behold evolution's die hard breed,
Built for no other purpose except,
Excessive Speed.
Racing along at razors edge,
Accelerating testing endurance's,
Brute strength.
Mustangs roam god's vast expanse,
 Deserts devils

An ache, some hurt with longing to yearn
Cauldron left to simmer with passion
Bubbles in the fire ball of desire
Closely watch topless metaphors;

Animal instinct with intuition 
Gets drawn in a desperate hunger
As she is wooed in the foreplay  
Melodious moments with sensation;

Makes her cower to his firm will,
For she loves the rapture and thrill:
