Nine wild mustangs canter across the prairie Old West symbols of animals on free range Known to them is only one adversary -- Pounding hooves fade into history’s pages Magnificent specie appears unwary Victim of habitat infringement and change Government roundups so unnecessary Protection not offered, to the contrary Mustangs captured and sold for slaughter’s exchange Deaths of entire herds appear arbitrary -- Pounding hooves fade into history’s pages

Good work about an interesting topic of concern. Horses are such a beautiful animal. I hope there will be some way to preserve their lives for future generations. Thanks for the visit to my page and honoring my work by faving it. Sara

How would early America have prospered so well without this beloved and useful animal. I hate to hear of their slaughter. These wild horses deserve to roam free. It is so sad Carolyn. Beautifully expressed. xxoo

Excellent Carolyn. Something that needs to be brought to the attention of everyone. Being an animal lover I hate this unnecessary killing of any animal. Great job and love the pic. God Bless, JB

Hi Carolyn, it is so sad, what has happened to these beautiful horses. Beauty can be found within sad words. Love the content of this excellent work. This is so sad to read and think of these magnificent animals being destroyed. The images are strong Carolyn. Wishing you all the best in the contest. Reads like a winner to me. Have a wonderful Saturday. ....Mike. XX

When I went to a ranch in Arizona, I was lucky enough to ride a horse from the Mustang Adoption Program. Unfortunately, many others of "Misty's" ilk were being slaughtered. Thanks for reading, Jim!

G'day Carolyn … same thing here with the brumbies. The high country slaughter and northern Australia horses are destined for the pet food industry. They are victims of their own success - thanks Carolyn - Lindsay

Oh, how beautiful the sound of those wild mustangs. I can hear the pounding and then the sadness as they are rounded up. Nice one, Carolyn!
