*Playing around with Alliteration
The sun softly shimmers with gold glimmers
Sanguine sunsets dance marvelous minuets
Before falling abed, he briefly bled
for having to close his eyes
beneath stunning skies when daylight dies
Revived, reborn each misty morn
With radiant rays, he deftly displays
his fading luminous light in flourishing flight

Fall Rhapsody
Fall rhapsody to BEGIN, TOLD IN scarlet tones,
A SERENADE for strings in a PARADE of russet GOLD hues -
A JUBILEE for acorns and for oaks in an autumn harvest JAMBOREE.
Maple LEAVES BLUSH in SHEAVES of firelight crimson choruses
Courtly LOVE sung like minuets OF twilight THRUSH vespers
MERRY harmonies of CRANBERRY aria odysseys.
Trees FESTOONED in UMBER pantaloons cast off MAROONED melodies
Twilight breezes FAN a cinnamon TAN pup in SLUMBER -
Orange opus CALLS when fall RECALLS harvest harmony.

Three Legged Table
Above the polished face of the petite gueridon
A crystal chandelier sparkles in dreamy hues
As one candlestick flickers in perfume,
One red rose dreams of minuets,
Upheld by gilded caryatides of innocence,
Draped maidens and daughters of Athens,
In salons where graceful reveries
Twirl in graceful circles
Around the teapoy’s edge.
Unmasked rhapsodies
Shimmer with the indelible mystery
Of one fleeting ambrosia midnight,
Glowing in an amber flush of reflection
With bittersweet rondos,
Immanent in lacy silhouettes
Of dulcet invitation,
To swell in crescendos of shadows,
Dancing butterflies mirrored in the table’s face.

Halcyon – 10-6-23
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Halcyon
Across the still and placid lake
Halcyon drifts
In misty cloaks of tranquility
Stitched with twilight patches of contentment,
Bits of unbound moonlight
Bow
In courtly minuets
On adagio waves
Then lightly skim the face of the shore
With twilight fragments
Of fading mauve
As velvet vespers of soft chimes
Calm the ghostly wraiths of torrid afternoons
With dusky balms,
To slowly stumble into mantles of lavender’s eiderdown
Wrapped in shawls of gently rocking barcaroles
As doves and nightingales
Sing remnants of dawn and dusk
Into lyric seams of rounded swells
Capturing serenity in the cloth of fading light
Shedding calm shadows on untroubled waters.
Open lotuses of purple and indigo hues
casting spells beneath lawny skies of midnight blue
each brilliant star more sparkly then the next by heaven's roam;
Like shooting fireflies and minuets of silent reveries,
the neon fairies claim the quiet waters of the Thame,
as lilies glide inside slow gentle rain ....
Opuses of art in natures private Cul de sac
water vessel of grace, incumbent chalice of the night
undulating sinuously towards the evening light
none can duplicate the beauty of, your even flow;
Who knows who knows which way the gale winds blow
but this I know,... no never have I seen
such incandescent fiery light, cleaving at the cusp of night.
Night…to Morning
————————————-
Very often,
my night hours
Keep awake,
Keep their occurrence
Until morning’s rise,
Keep their words
Under darkness…and
Their poems wait,
Disregarding
Inspiration from
The luminant moon
In favor of the sun’s
birthing day.
I keep my sleep’s
dreams abloom
In the acres of
gently waving,
Vibrant yellow,
Billions of sunflower
Petals
Opened to extend
their beauty into the
Summer’s minuets —
Moving silhouettes —
Along the horizon…
So, so clear, even
To these sleepy eyes,
Through these
glistening tears.
fake
I snuck into the party with an ID I hastily made
and stumbled, out of step, into the poetry parade.
In this beautiful country club, I'm surrounded by my betters.
I wave my kindergarten rhymes to show the men of letters.
In the echo of the learned men who came this way before me
I hear the patterned minuets, that if followed, lead to glory.
I chafe in those traveled ruts and I long for something varied
and I hope to spark a unique verse, between school and the cemetery.
The midnight man always looked up at the clock before he went to bed he fed his flock. When midnight came he looked up at the stars, two minuets later it started to rain. His binoculars all wet, his shirt now soaked, when he went to his garage, he grabbed his boat. He took his boat out to the water and moments later the rain was calmer. After his boat ride he looked at his watch, wasn’t paying attention and dropped his squash. The midnight man was very obnoxious, was very energetic and very anxious. The next hour came and midnight began, he looked at his clock and said let’s do all this again.
Autumn Dances
Autumn dances lively minuets,
A kiss of frost upon her cheek,
Joyful celebration dance
With twirling scarlet leaves –
Amber autumn calls,
From orchard fields,
Take her hand -
Come and
I remember how it is like to be in kindergarten
When life was easy and I never worried
About how they thought of me or the pimple on my forehead
Whether I was tall enough or short enough
I could walk up to anybody and we would be friends in a matter of minuets
There were no mean girls and bad boys
Nobody complained about seeing each other in our stained clothes
Or our yogurt covered faces
All we had was time to play with each other
Climbing up the jungle gym or sliding down into mud puddles
We would swing high on the swings to see who would go highest.
How I miss those days
How I miss the mind of kindergartner that I had
If I could have it back indeed I would
The mind that cannot hate or envy
That does not know what revenge is.
The call goes out, the horn it sounds.
Someones fight for life begins uptown.
Most of us hear that horn from the safety of our home,
not giving it a thought as it bellows out it's tone.
But for a certain few, that sound means so much more.
It's someones cry for help and that quick they're out the door..
For their the Volunteers and my respect for them immense,
when their out there fighting fires, no matter how intense..
The screeching of a wheel.
The sound of breaking glass.
Your entombed in your car
and you think that breaths your last.
But a few minuets pass , as the roof it's cut away.
You hear a friendly voice assuring you're OK.
They say our countries values , have gone a bit astray.
I say that isn't true for volunteers are born each day..
So if you hear that horn as you go about your way.
Please take a couple minutes and Volunteer yourself to Pray...
There seems a different place
Ever quiet from all despair
A sun that shines immortal
A night that is so fair
Forgetting all razzled minuets
Forgetting all earthly cares
There is a silent spring
Flowing water and fresh air
Brilliant are the florals
The cottage on the way
Where the hare eats tarots
In the beauty of noonday
Hearing a squirrel chatter
The cat just lays in vain
There is a distant place
Come where peace remains
Come friend beholding
A place called kingdom come.
