Three Legged Table

10-31-23 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Three Legged Table Above the polished face of the petite gueridon A crystal chandelier sparkles in dreamy hues As one candlestick flickers in perfume, One red rose dreams of minuets, Upheld by gilded caryatides of innocence, Draped maidens and daughters of Athens, In salons where graceful reveries Twirl in graceful circles Around the teapoy’s edge. Unmasked rhapsodies Shimmer with the indelible mystery Of one fleeting ambrosia midnight, Glowing in an amber flush of reflection With bittersweet rondos, Immanent in lacy silhouettes Of dulcet invitation, To swell in crescendos of shadows, Dancing butterflies mirrored in the table’s face.

Dearest Inky, once again you have lifted my spirits like a joy filled butterfly dancing through the garden! I thought this theme was going to be more than difficult!! But, once I did some research on antique three legged tables, this scene of two lovers dancing around the table in candlelight to the scent of a rose emerged. It was a delightful experience to learn about an antique "teapoy" then imagine a room where it could be found bathed in candlelight and the pervasive scent of a rose. I could see lovers dancing around the table like butterflies. What looked like an impossible theme turned into a joyful celebration of romance and love for me. Thank you for sharing in this scene.
