MILESTONES

Roused by a rude jolt 
I start up from my half-slumber.

Utterly clueless I move about
clinging to my pet delusions 
in complete darkness of my past
coming after me swinging a truncheon…

I vaguely hear screams and yells
hurled at me some time before 
echoing in my memory’s vault 
as from a distant past.

But yesterday seemed like a bowl

When one cycle comes to its close
A new one of hope begins!
Let us thank the Lord in prayer
For the blessing of life's milestones!
Let us speak words of life and grace
For this is the season of
Divine recovery and transition!
Darkness can no longer conceal.
Let there be a light in all that we see
In His perfect and timely

Accepting responsibility and learning from your mistakes are milestones to wisdom.

The Milestones Ahead

As silence trickles behind, our message is woven ahead. 

We can no longer wait, we must create understanding instead.

This patience we are beginning to lose. 

It is true that our needs have been refused. 

It is too late for some of us, we have already been denied. 

But there is hope for the children, the

The milestones I never surpassed. 

Are a reflection of the behaviors I learned to suppress. 

Even though I learned to talk. 

Fear of communication caused me to balk. 

As if standing on the edge of a field of tall grass. 

That I am afraid to put a dent in, there is no clear path to

I wanted to take the road
you had once travelled,
and cross the milestones
you had erected accomplished.

You climbed up the soaring stairs,
called the stepping stones of success,
but you designed on each a springboard
to ascend high and higher. 

I could see your footprints 
etched deep on the stones
by the skilled sculptor of life
you had made out of inimitable

Child's Milestones

For our son’s milestones, we rejoice
seeing his choice
for triumph gain
conquering pain.

Thanking the Lord* that he strives well
we let doubts quell
since hope persists
as heart insists.

Victory by faith we do claim
midst progress aim
for special child
notably styled.

Forecast predicting bad weather but as long as I have you nothing else will matter

We can get through any storm, and at times it may seem harder than you imagined

You may even ask is this even worth it, or is this bomb

Milestones Toward Oblivion

A milestone here leans heavily
against a gaunt, golemic tree.
These words are chiseled thereupon:
"One mile and then Oblivion."

Swift larks that once swooped down to feed
on groping slugs, such insects breed
within their radiant flesh and bones ...
they did not heed the milestones.

Another marker lies ahead,
the only tombstone to the dead
whose eyeless sockets

Our life is made up of milestones,

If life is one long journey,
There are milestones on the way,
From birthdays and bar mitzvahs
To a graduation day.

A wedding and a baby’s birth
(Or two or three or four),
A moving day or brand-new job
Are other ways to score.

A prize, award or write-up
Of accomplishments will count
When milestones are considered;
There’s no average amount.

But when we look back on

When our children are born we await all their milestones keeping an eye on their developmental clock
We don’t want to miss the first time they crawl, the first time they walk or they talk.

As they grow we’re amazed at how quickly they arrive at each new milestone

mark life’s fleeting journey.

From birth to death these small posts,
remind us of our odyssey.

Some people have stones aplenty,
while others not so many.

These small stones tell the tales,
of all our triumphs and tragedies.

A stone is etched,
with our first cry.

With our last breath, 
the last stone marks our death.
