Milestones

The milestones I never surpassed. Are a reflection of the behaviors I learned to suppress. Even though I learned to talk. Fear of communication caused me to balk. As if standing on the edge of a field of tall grass. That I am afraid to put a dent in, there is no clear path to pass. As the other children scattered and played. I did not care to swing on a swing set that caused my head to sway. What was left was my feet on the hard ground. I would say goodbye without making a sound.
