Milestones

It rained the first day
It rained the last
Tears fell each time
It’s moving too fast

So many days in between
Victories and regrets
A painfully beautiful time
Another giant step

Once again, I sit and reflect
As the crying sky mourns
I realize how helpless I’ve been
Starting the day they were born

Milestones

If life is one long journey,
There are milestones on the way,
From birthdays and bar mitzvahs
To a graduation day.

A wedding and a baby’s birth
(Or two or three or four),
A moving day or brand-new job
Are other ways to score.

A prize, award or write-up
Of accomplishments will count
When milestones are considered;
There’s no average amount.

But when we look back on the lives
That we have lived or made,
The milestones are the memories
That somehow never fade.

Joy spreads
Peanut butter bread;
Poignant taste

Fish head curry
White rice paradise;
Earthly ambrosia

Family meal
Celebratory moods;
Evening delights

Premium durian feast
Pleasure primes palates;
Mangosteen topping

Tuesday month-end
June succumbs;
July takeover

By and by
Here and there;
Anxious punctuation

Mystic mathematics
One upon zero;
Infinity presides

Pineapple slices
Everyday desserts;
Meal aftermath

Growing Up Milestones

You learn how to crawl before you can walk
Then pull up; let go; give a step a chance
Little by little you’ll learn how to talk
And you finally stop wetting your pants

You’ll be starting school in just a few years
Give Mom a big kiss; on the bus and go
I know it’s scary and you’re full of fears
All alone with kids you don’t even know

Enter puberty; hormones give a shove
Remember the day you shared a first kiss
Followed by those bouts of puppy love
Now you seek true love, one you can’t resist

You’re reached adulthood, physically true
Mentally you’re still got growing to do

Milestones in Life
By Franklin Price
11/13/2015

Milestones in life are passing
Time stops for none at all
From the day that we are born
Not so long before we crawl

Then unsteady steps we take
Next thing you know we run
Passing by the markers
Headed for the setting sun

The first day I went off to school
Mom shed a little tear.
Not long before I drove a car;
Then graduation year

A cornucopia of options;
So many things from which to choose.
A myriad of paths to take;
So much to win or lose

Off then to a higher school,
And in a uniform;
Wedding bells and family, working,
Moving through the storm

The book was getting thicker
As I moved from page to page.
Twenty-one was gone;
When I was young, the magic age.

Then through the thirties, forties,
The years went rushing by,
The fifties and the sixties,
Hardly time to blink an eye

Those will all be gone
Tomorrow's seven oh!
So many milestones passed 'til here
So many more to go

Along the way have made good friends
With my wife, on life, a grip
Know it's not the destination
But the milestones of the trip

Milestones

Out racing on a long-stemmed flight,
I heard the air of duskfall snap
With warm murmurings that delight,
To let the jaybird's croon recap
A rustling through the meadow shade,
Where silver huffs of evening glow
Past smokey miles and frosted jade,
A drive where cornfields bend to row.
This fidgin not quite in between
While tailight of clouds have sailed,
And far out through a winding stream
My gal waits for a kiss, delayed.

For our son’s milestones, we rejoice
seeing his choice
for triumph gain
conquering pain.

Thanking the Lord* that he strives well
we let doubts quell
since hope persists
as heart insists.

Victory by faith we do claim
midst progress aim
for special child
notably styled.

*2Chronicles 5:13 …Make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; … For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever…

Milestones

To the epitome you desire,
The journey you undertake,
Is antonym in nature,
As compared to the pleasures,
You on reaching finally avail.
The path is gloomy,
Frustrating, depressing,
Tiring, misleading;
Enough to push you,
Out in the oblivion,
Where you become timid,
Where you decide to quit….
Start again, night is over,
It’s a new day, a new challenge;
But your target remains the same.
And now you see a new horizon;
You become more assertive,
While you grow your nose.
And absorb the trail with bounty.
Come on o player,
You know your instincts,
With all the distractions around,
They guide you, instead.
So if you have reached there,
You know it what the game is,
To the epitome you desire,
Now is more distant, is more compelling,
Now is more horrid, is more blissing.

Our life is made up of milestones, we learn to walk, we graduate, we get a job, we get married, we have babies, we retire.
Our life is made up of moments, the moments we always will remember. The moments are what we hold on to, the moments will always rest in our mind until we die.

Milestones

I passed my driving test when I was seventeen,
then I could vote at eighteen, didn't know what it would mean;
my first blow-job was a cause for celebration,
but when I was limp, turned out to be a deflation.

Fashion lured me to a pair of pointed shoes,
making love was okay, I had nothing left to lose,
although I had to wear a raincoat as everyone should,
commendable behavior was surely worthy of a 'knighthood.'

When I got married, I gave my freedom right away,
but when in love, you're still thinking of a roll in the hay,
the children kept me young, told me not to be 'yesterday,'
I was playing more games than I could buy on e-bay.

Tell us 'the facts of life,' suddenly came from Dan and his brother,
I said that I think it's best if you speak to your mother.

Milestones In Time

A thousand adventures
A hundred love stories
Stimulating emotions
Milestones met in time

Words igniting the imagination
Changing their faces
Distorting the lines of reality
Merging minds as one

Style and rhythm
Rhyme and reason
Time is racing forward
To relive a thousand dreams

Milestones

When one cycle comes to its close
A new one of hope begins!
Let us thank the Lord in prayer
For the blessing of life's milestones!
Let us speak words of life and grace
For this is the season of
Divine recovery and transition!
Darkness can no longer conceal.
Let there be a light in all that we see
In His perfect and timely plan
A brightness all around; so heavenly
Let us view the land through His eyes
A covenant of promises we can trust
Signed by the Lord; made by the Lord
Let life burst out: resurrection life
Be a beacon of strength so strong
Be a powerhouse so powerful
Life-giving power you carry!
The Kingdom inside; the Great I AM within!
God has faith; you are a kingdom
Surely goodness and mercy shall
Follow you all life long!
