Making It Great In 2008 (Part 18): the Legacy Lives On: Going To the Next Level By Passing the Baton

many of us are living lives of deficiency
not functioning at our full capacity
running on a tank that is half full
coasting in a life that's tired and dull
we make it through each week but only by a hair
TGIF, thank God Friday is now here
we're talented beings who have it going on
but none of that matters if we don't pass the baton
to move to the next level we need to realize
that all the gifts we get from God need to be maximized
to move to the next level take someone along
to making 2008 great by passing the baton

God has an anointing for each of us
God has an appointing for each of us
and despite what it is we think of ourselves
God is the medicine for our spiritual health
so fall down on your knees and to Him submit
going to the next level with a renewed spirit
all you have to do is give God all the praise
going to the next level elevated and now raised
living up to your full potential and no longer stalling
going to the next level by answering your calling
anointed, appointed now it's time for preparation
so let God guide you to your chosen destination
as all things work together for the good
for those whom love the Lord as they should
going to the next level by letting God use you
passing the baton and lighting someone else's fuse

the devil will give you hell so just hold on
as the army of God is on the horizon
the devil will attack your children and your heirs
just stay prayerful for God's Angels will appear
when the Philistines went out on a battle patrol
they were unaware that the new king was under God's control
down on his knees King David did pray
that God would give him the victory that day

the power of prayer is the manifest
that you trust God to answer your request
the power of prayer is more than happenstance
it's the belief that God will change your circumstance
to be placed by the Spirit in a position to stand and fight
for what you believe in and what you know is right
to put on the full battle armor of God
to put your enemies on alert and on guard
donning the Helmet of Salvation and carrying the Shield of Faith
feet shod in the Gospel of Peace and wearing a Righteous Breastplate
to know that God has already claimed
the victory for you in Jesus' name
so continue making it great in 2008 as the legacy lives on
on the next level at your full potential while passing the baton

I Can'T Name It

Don't worry about her they said
Her bark is worse than her bite
But what they didn't know
Is that she used her claws to fight

Suddenly she changed before their eyes
The abusers stopped and stared
She had finally had enough
She would make them hurt and scared

She felt the anger boil and rise
Her soul turned black as night
She knew she would enjoy the chase
As the abusers all took flight

She would make them see
The hate through her own eyes
Make her the one they fear
With torment like their lies

She chased them through the town
Down alleyways and lanes
Chasing them towards the sewers
The water tanks and drains

She would show them helpless
Show them bullied and abused
She would show that people
Are not play things to be used

They sought the safety of the tunnels
But little did they know
That she would drive them forward
To the place she used to go

The black and swirling water
Looked like a giant eye
"Please make your last requests,
Its time to say goodbye"

She crouched down low beside them
In a predatory stance
"You could apologise you know,
I'll give you one last chance"

One girl dropped down on bended knees
Sobbed and begged for life
She felt her anger subside a little
Took her had off the hunting knife

The second girl just stared below
At the swirling water deep
And floods of regret and sorrow
Made her collapse and start to weep

The last and final girl
Decided to stand her ground
They faced each other solidly
Neither made a sound

The girl extended her hand
Towards the girl that she despised
And saw her breathing calm a little
The blackness leave her eyes

The girl took one step forward
Her fingers reaching out
Not knowing how this was to end
Or what it was about

Her fingers pushed through anger
Through layers of hate and lies
The nights of pain and anguish
The unheard and unloved cries

Her fingers touched the skin
So old and thin to touch
She felt the pain and sorrow
And finally knew how much

She stepped into the body
Crouched upon the floor
And felt the ice that froze her
Right to the very core

Together they moved to stand up
To approach the other two
This was when it had to end
The point that they all knew

Now the soul was shattered
In four distinctive parts
But they must learn to work together
For they don't have separate hearts.

Current Events Commentary

Do you think I care
For your phony Arab spring
And dead trees and hot wind
I have never seen a spring without seed popping from the soil
I should know I am made from the dust of the earth
Spring must have rain and bring flowers
Like the peace people use to sell in California
Before I knew they were only exploited slaves
Following someone else's agenda
Muttering words that were meaningless to their existence
You see what I cannot believe in what I see again
I am a man of faith, and have always been
Since the blindfold fell like scales of history
There is no Arab spring
Only the death of the old undying resistance
That would not conform to nothing but self
Only the death of people in the street
Who does not know the puppiteer willed them
For if they return from the dead
What will they see
Only the same old things more dilapidated than before
Only the invisible hand doing visible things
Killing people and calling it spring
That the new world order may prevail
As a new nomenclature
For the same old stuff that has made us barren
And berefted us of dreams
I want my children to better off than I have been
I can only entrust to me
Sleeping at their door armed with a prayer and an angel
That is who we were
Before the primitive hordes came from the sea
Before the sea people defied the bounds of their habitation
Before our empires were stolen
And we ended up in cages at the Bronx zoo
Yeah, you should read that story too
It is only by prayers we suruvive
It is the mystic part of us, the first part they derided
Calling it animism, or some dark sinister stuff
Making us afraid to own ourselves
We abandoned everything and found no berth
In their new economic order
For we were always commodities or some sort of value in exchange
So those high sounding, idealistic documents
They copied from what we believe but could not bring to pass
Those constitutions were not about us nor our possibility
For we were not construed to have humanity enough for that.
Then are we suddenly men again
That the Arab spring should be something more than a sinister thing.
I stop believing in Trojan horses long ago
I mean it is there as a gift
But I will keep working the night shift
When there is no moon
Just remember what is the color of my skin
Because all things work together for good
And I cannot walk by sight in the darkness
So I live by faith in season and out of season.

7 Ravens

7 Ravens

In a terrible time of famine, war, pest and inquisition,
a master Wicca giving homeless boys a apprentice permission.
They had to maintain a household in an isolated place,
working very hard to earn some recognition to face.
Collecting woods, herbs and edibles to survive
building a garden, harvesting some fields to strive.
When the moon was new the master summonsed the boys,
teaching them the art of magic, using dark power like toys.
The very same power was keeping those young men imprisoned,
some tried to run away, but got lost and ended up same place wrested.
He turned them into ravens, spying on innocent prey,
and gave them that illusion of freedom that they can fly.
The deeds of darkness had its toll and innocent hearts rebel,
they could not take the viciousness by mental means able.
The Wicca promised them the virtue of ultimate power,
focusing only onto the abuse by tragic endower.
The ravens tried to work together against the masters will,
but could not fit his evil visions to conquer the needed bill.
In disguise of 7 Ravens they had to visited villages,
creating distractions for the dark master to take advantages.
One Raven got injured during some chaotic rage,
a maiden of gentle touch, nursed the captured creature in a cage.
Not knowing that a boy is in this disguise of a bird,
and the young man was in awe of all he heard.
She was talking about a charming prince she dreamed to meet,
giving her the stillness for the loving longing as a deed.
The raven recovered and the boy’s heart was enchanted,
flying back to the brothers and the master will granted.
He told his fellows about the beauty he is feeling,
and knew it is the way to conquer all fears and controlled stealing.
They decided to fly to those villages to find some maidens of charm,
exchanging bodies to create loving features with no harm.
Soon they hearts where all full of joy and virtues abilities,
much against the masters witching capabilities.
His own manipulation fell against him by circumstance,
leaving nothing left to do, giving those young men the advance.
They swore an ode, never to use the art of dark power,
living a life with the meaning of celebrated love in any hour.
Still hearing from time to time the voice of a Crow,
sounding like the croaking noise of…. nevermore, nevermore.

The Seafarers Journey

Up and down
left and right
we row and row

to seek the treasures
abundant on this land
mutual aid is needed
you cannot succeed on your own
remember, no man is an island

Up and down
left and right
we row and row
Behind every enterprise, there is support.
Individuals who show support
with hope and confidence
be it a small or big aid
one cannot rise on its own
without other people helping
working together side by side

Up and down
left and right
we row and row

We can reach our purpose,
we can, we can
If we work together
we will reach it, before long.

Up and down
left and right
we row and row
Challenges that we may face
be it rough sea currents
drenching us with waves after waves
drowning our spirits
even getting chased by wild savages
that wants to eat us
or hunted down by a pack of vicious lions
as long as we help each other
we will come through it
reaching our admired goal
side by side, gloriously

Some say that
the power of one is strong
however, being alone
makes one vulnerable
to be attack from many sides
having trusting allies
being alongside of each other
helping each other
we are sure to win

As the saying goes
a single stick
breaks easily
a bundled of sticks
stays strong

Up and down
left and right
we row and row

such is the same for wolves’
they work as a pack
they are strong as a pack
they succeed as a pack
they have each other’s backs
So do a ship
if the crew is organized
the ship crew’s functions well
the journey will reach its destination
if the ship crew is in disarray
it will bicker and plot schemes
that will destroy each other
leading to ruin
surely it will sink the ship
All for one, one for all
we rise
when united
we fall
when divided
Up and down
left and right
we row and row

the world’s bounty is open for us
to acquire and enjoy it.
Nothing is impossible
being united, anything is possible

Up and down
left and right
we row and row

there it is
land ho, land ho
the place that has it
the treasures that we seek

Up and down
left and right
we row and row
We are HERE
anchors away boys
we can land now
celebrating our success
to rest our laurels
enjoying our well-earned rewards
of our achieved dreams

Bring Me Out of the Dark

Jealousy runs through my veins
I know that I have tons of brains
Regretting the fact that I'm so selfish
People don't understand me as if I'm talking gibberish

Pre-ch: Throw all of your flawless doubts
Embrace possibilities that open up new routes

Ch: Bring Me Out of the Dark...
Bring me out of the dark...
Please, oh please, I want you back, just don't attack
For you are my freedom park...
You are my highlight of my childhood memories...you were my candle that lit up the dark
The light in which brought me out of the dark
It brought me out of the dark

Seriously, why do I feel this cruel sadness?
My heart is scorching with impure madness
Back away or I will charge like an enraged bull
My head is spinning like the world around me as a whole

Pre-ch
Ch

Sick of reading poetry that brings me down...it's like dreading the fact that you lost your one and only phone
Wishing I can replace my frown and hang it upside down
Feeling like I've been getting out of hand
Longing to find a true friend who will understand

Pre-Ch
Ch

I lost my writings that meant dearly to me
But, write, I must with a heart of creativity
I remove myself from the comfort zone of tension
It's hard to take head of minor or major correction

Pre-Ch
Ch

I abhor the actions of the prideful man who lacks self-control
Haven't he learned to be respectful in his elementary years in school?
What if the world was overflowing with zealous and considerate people?
Clearly, the world prefers competition over an attitude of gratitude that's nonjudgmental

Pre-Ch
Ch

Bridge: Ooh ooh ooh
For I love you and all you do
I will try not to take advantage of you
If you want my help, I will be there
All of the family's burdens I will bear
I really want to be understood like you
It's hard to find my voice these dark days,
Drowned out in the waves of a million lies
Left with only one clue...who knew...
I would end up like you, but I have sympathy towards you
If we both want freedom and acceptance,
We all must struggle and work together
I know we all feel like our responsibilities double...we should stay true to our divine resemblance
Dispose of all worthless emotions for a moment and be the listener -
No matter what happens,
Light will outshine the dark - the light wins

Calling Cards

Sausages are meal items that should be avoided at all costs by very small rabbits. Tiny white fish with silver fins carry red flags that denote danger in a tide. So hop jump up a tree then. That should be interesting and safe as solace springs from branches and all wood can be shaped. Mistake not a red dialled mustard cake for a pizza for the wires hidden can explode. Uncharacteristically benevolent to invoke trust then erratically boom to give a red dust to the air. Explosive are the surrounds in many a dusty floor. If a beautiful lady is fishing for pike she must first wear a bonnet shaped like a turtle's shell. For to avoid the many pellets thrown by passing fleas, flues, ants and beetles. Humming a silvery tune to entice the marvellous beast for the summer feast and festivals of the sun are counted on long sticks. Spinning tops can often be made from small plastic piglets whose round shapes assist them to spin many many times. So entertaining for classes. When the mind is silent the caterpillar ghost files open to rearrange and sort the many piles of assorted mind excursions into organised pan and shape. With a slight touch of wisdom from elders and books. Knowledge can be prevalent in a kiss of fresh air or the breezes of a mountain stream. Steaming is not unusual at this time. Temperature raised then cooked to even a once fragmented core. Apples are amazing creatures if placed by a garden gate in a large barrow. It takes a long time for a small five centimetre pig to gather together the fodder. All the differences are displayed in a global pie. Pieces are even, exact and work together harmoniously in a giant whirl. Mélange bien remue bien tra la tra la tra la on. And obviously a seven acre sea horse cannot work a diameter six barrel no a trapezium. When x to y an x to z take a bucket and wear it on one's arm. Trading a tailor for a trademark. Teaching turtles to talk tantrically. Fishing in undergrowth for left unsustainable weapons of old. Goblets of greed gone. Homing a house full of horses. Hemming heifers. Saintly suns and mystical moons. Many hands many ingredients. Many times a foretold faith. Xx lovingly living life lifestyles. Xx denominations. *** calling cards caressing *** evaporation xxxx acrylonitrile *** and now I will have a coffee. ***

Washed Away My Experience With Katrina

Innocent victims cry in the dark
Forced to take refuge in that park
Such wrath began to fall
For I shall never forget the day I got that call
Silence and sorrow heavy in the air
It was like nothing I could ever compare
Days turned to weeks
Thousands take dwelling beseeching for any relief
Thousands left waiting in utter disbelief

I was supposed to be deployed
Yet an injury kept me here
My fellow workers attacked at the dome
Traumatized and in complete fear some had to return home
I feel so guilty
So guilty I should have been there
Innocent victims crying
Innocent victims now dying

An event so devastating
The stench of death filled the air
We could not fathom something so unfair
I counseled innocent victims
Still sticking strong to their convictions
I still recall every haunting voice
Confused, frustrated and displaced
Innocent victims left without a choice

Families torn apart on that day
The day the levees broke
Families losing all hope
My job was to help them cope
Innocent victims left to cry in a park
Fear increases when light turns to dark
Like declaring Martial Law
Lives washed away, all humanity started to fall

On the dawn of a new day
So joyous… even an atheist bowed her head to pray
The media coverage was what really brought aid
Oh no!
Politicians began to look bad so of course something had to be done
Late in action but at least more help had come
There is still work to be had
Many left permanently sad
Entering in hundreds of names to locate the missing or those declared dead
Debriefed each night just to clear my head
I still remember so clearly the desperation and panic
When Katrina came in August
Life turned frantic
Overwhelming emotions; I felt completely manic
I will never forget the victims I helped in such grief
I hope when the bodies were identified; I wish just some…
Some could give a sigh of relief

It is important we do not forget those still suffering
The child who didn’t get the last kiss
The parents who will be dearly missed
We all have the ability to help
1,836 people dead!
Work together and ease the sorrow…
Another disaster could just happen tomorrow
Make time to reach out
So many innocent victims still in need
We all are capable of doing a good deed
