Premium Member When the bathroom calls your name

I had cycled to Upper Montclair
It was humid, hot, smoke in the air.
I was sweaty, and smelled of Deet
circles under my eyes, and I was beat.

It was Sunday, I'm agnostic, or I'd be in church
Anyway, my state flipped to desperate search
I went to the gas station, to the staff I made a plea
I said "Do you have a bathroom; this is an emergency."

The owner said "sorry, not for your kind."
So I pedaled off, nearly out of my mind.
I saw a port-o-potty, with a lock on the door
Seemed to defeat the purpose, what it's made for.

A drug store was open, I gave a sigh of relief
But the bathroom was out of order, this was beyond belief.
I scanned the trees, but each patch of green
Had a house, a dog, or a camera unseen.

(chorus)
When nature calls, on a Sunday morn
You forget the rose and feel the thorn.
It isn’t just pain—it’s a primal shame,
When the bathroom calls you by your name.

Finally, I rode my bicycle through church doors
The crowd looked shocked, but when it rains, it pours.
The priest pointed out the restroom, I just made it there
And thanked heaven for religion in Upper Montclair.

I had made my fortune shorting the Lebanese pound
So I gave ten thousand dollars to each parishioner, shock all around
Shook every hand, then rolled out of there,
The faithful will remember that day in Montclair.

Page Twenty One

I'm losing myself on this one, they tell me they want that
old me back but I'm not even sure who he is, its hit &
miss obviously and how ironic is it? So exquisite, how
when it rains it pours these war wounds cut me
deep....I'm good at covering up my own truths so in the
end I'm subject to my own abuse, I need treatment from
me because to be honest that's why I'm single not
because it was them but it actually had everything to do
with me. The first step in rehab is acceptance and I
accept who I appear to be, a broken man internally so
that organ donor, that transfusion was necessary I can
see straight my vision is still blurry but I can't help it at
times when it comes to relationships I'm always in a
hurry even tho I rehearsed to myself be easy, fall back,
take it slow...but Im a cancer I wear my heart on my
sleeve I know but I can't and wont let that part of me go,
to myself I'm still the only one that I have yet to gain the
strength to say NO...

Greedsome Collectors

The cares of the world, are weighing me down.
To the point, that I wanted my thoughts; to drown.

Bills owed, finding their way to the mail box.
I want to pay them, but; I have too many roadblocks.

Collectors harassing day in and day out on the telephone.
Even on the "do not call" list they still won't leave you alone.

I try and develop a plan to suppress the harassment.
That didn't last very long, or even bring any appeasement.

The greedsome collectors send a pile, that is a waste of trees.
Just to collect their "grub" and jacked up hideous fees!

Then the greedsome collectors called me at work!
I called them back mad and was about to go berserk!

Then I received a whopping medical bill.
I felt so sick with disgust, I think I feel "ill".

In the mail was a pink envelope and what was inside?
An insurance bill that read "if not paid" then services denied.

I come home from my job feeling somber and "spent".
I opened up my check, of course; the government took their "cent".

They say when it rains, it pours.
Life’s tedious doldrums but, a different day; and more downpour!

Hit Home

1/10/21

It's gone
Far beyond
Phenomenon

Continually I stood strong
She asked for it, so I gave her the footlong
And put on a good song

Any problems I took on
And pushed on

Noticing anything that looked wrong
With some help from a good dog

It was clear as day, or put odd
Didn't bother me, others were offended and said "Good god!"

Bleeding now
Never was a meeting ground
Why are people so quick to put another human being down?

Just another thing I can be without
Often I took the scenic route
For a long time I've been speaking and reaching out
The results have been leaving doubts

Wasn't always of the same accord
Sometimes a sprinkle, and other times when it rains it pours
Why are you playing your
Cards wrong, that is one thing you'll be paying for

Already been down this road
Began to get old
It really started to hit home

Through life some tiptoed
Others were reckless, and it showed
By the s*** load
In the same or different zip codes

I Know the Look of a Heart Broken Angel

You lost your love I see it in your eye
I watch as your feathers fall as you fly by
You’re usually filled with joy and happiness
But your tears flow down with heavy stress

I see you living in your own personal hell
Now I know the look of a heart broken angel

You were left alone betrayed by a lie
Now I fear your wings will never touch the sky
Your good nature is blocked by sadness and pain
Its sung in your love songs refrain

I see you living in your own personal hell
Now I know the look of a heart broken angel

You lost your job as a guardian of a soul
Now true love can only once again make you whole
So brush yourself off when it rains it pours
Ask yourself was this lost love really ever yours

I see you living in your own personal hell
Now I know the look of a heart broken angel

So float and watch and wait eternally on a cloud
Sing of the hope of a new love to heaven out loud
Be ready with an open heart when it comes to call
Know that this experience makes you more human after all

Eye For An Eye

Is this my moment of clarity or another illusion
It's hard to fight a battle when it feels like you keep losing
I question would it be best if I had a short fuse or try to just defuse this
Sometimes it's useless and with knowing that, some choose to abuse this
An eye for an eye, it's hard to tell if we are even on the same side anymore
the rumors are true when it rains it pours
But that's what happens when you keep knocking on the wrong door
I can only speak for self and the way I felt
It's an eye for an eye, I never did switch sides
but this is what happens when the worst out the best people collide

Page Thirty Three

She's everything I prayed for even better
Everything I hoped for, when it rains it pours
And I'm looking at an overflow I'm drenched
In her love with no overcoat. Now I only boast
Because this is heaven sent, my new addiction
No prescription medicine, God prescribed it
True love how do we define it, we both been
Threw the fire but like the hebrew boys we been refined
No gimmicks she's my wife to be, late nights &
Early mornings she's my Methamphetamine
So what I mean to say is that I'm in love,
And I know the feeling is mutual
Its feels like the first date everytime I see you
Thats my lady, my woman of virtue
Its like I'm killing myself at any given time
I hurt you, there's no coming back from a
Suicide attempt doesn't it feel so good on
This side of the fence.

The Year 1821

Let my love cover you as my hands blanket every negative emotion

Because when it rains it pours and I usually forget my umbrella

But I’ll never forget your heart, so when I say things I don’t mean in the middle of a thunderstorm please don’t take these to heart

I am no superman as much as I try to be, my last name is just Clark

But the first time I saw you I felt your heart without having to see

Guess I am lucky like that, lucky enough to get the chance to know you, and with each day I uncovered the vast sea of pain that you were drowning in

So, I tried to pull you to shore but just because you can swim does not mean the water will give in

Each day we would get closer to the beach but the wall would then become taller for the both of us

You wanted to know more about my past but I had locked it away so long ago that I lost the keys

I began searching for answers but even when I found them I was reluctant to share them, fearing I would open up to another person who was only going to eventually go their separate way holding on to my deepest secrets

This is why a long time ago I told myself “we are better by ourselves,” nobody else really cares when they say they do

I am sorry for every time you asked me what is wrong and I could not tell you, sometimes I still can’t tell you

And it hurts that much more knowing you were willing to tell me, but my head is telling me some things are better left unsaid

While my heart wants you to know every dark corner that was pushed away

It is hard to walk through your past like it is a regular Friday and you are just stopping through

It is hard to be vulnerable after people only take your secrets to spill them all over the floor others step on

It is hard to speak when sometimes you don’t even believe in yourself, and you are constantly listening to what others believe you are above what you want to be

Can we go back in time maybe then it you would be easy

This back and forth is cheesy but at the same time so real

So, will you wait for me until

p.s. the year doesn’t matter as much as the growth…

Letter To My Hater

Written by: Rodgers Ja Brown

Why you gassing dawg
Why you coming to my table without asking dawg
I know you hate me with a passion I ain't mad at y'all
Jealous and envy shall follow you
You stuck on my name tryna f*ck with it
But I'm a big number you ain't in my league

I know you f*ck with every classic in my catalog
And it go worth your business team think it's lootlove
Cashtime with my team I'm a big Fish
Money is a big thing I'm focused on

I don't need a green screen when I pull stunts
Cause when you the real thing niggas get touched
And it's Super unlocked
I don't give a f*ck about your number one spot

Corporate's sleeping on me need to set alarm clocks
Word to all workmates crossing my network guap
Big dreams since I was a little boy
I'm stressed, went to the medical school and dropped out
Middle finger to the press

Tried to give a f*ck but I ain't got a f*ck left
I'm blessed
Tried to be civil until I saw your Instagram page
But I was out on leave paving a road for bigger things
See when it rains it pours. I think we all need change
I show real love and respect to the real ones!

When It Rains It Pours

In the silence of your mind,
thoughts overflow like your cup is running over
But you stay strong and confident like a soldier.
In the face of treat, you hold your composure.
Cold shoulder, pain that's in the eyes of the beholder.
Blockage to your heart, being protected by a boulder.

A mockingbird that's never been killed
It pours on this end, like when hearing the funeral bells
Like May, June rain every day it fall.
A philosopher in the making,
Something like Plato in his prime.
Or Shakespeare one of a kind.

You stay on your grind for the blessings to grow over time
Stay through to your nature
Like being in your natural habitat.

Mother's words hit harder now that you're older
Like yesterday to today now having to look over your shoulder.

They mistake kindness for weakness
Timid for scared
Helping out for being ordered around
That's the type of stigma when you're young.

When it rains, it pours over here
Blessings in abundance
Bless beyond years of hardship
Like the titanic but this ship won't sink.

Thinking about it and complaining about it at the same time
I'm one in the making like Walther Rodney
These steady strong bones was meant to brake wave
Like Mark Anthony I'm the definition of brave.
