A Poem of Jibonananda Das
Intertwined light, through the lighted and the half lit dimmed
Not about a dream perhaps, perhaps among a tedious may
Not about dream - not about peace - not about love
A blossoming may for an unspoken, perhaps, also an unsung, just born
I am an undeniable denial to deny any more
And my hand receives the warmth, as the hand surmises
All day long, for so long, all long gone, of one little value or none
The way and the may and all about the say
seemingly so
seemingly so.
Who is the weave and the chant, as they weave along
Who will be the churn of this half lit, dimmed among
Of about all these and those, their say and may, as they say so
Who else will be there, anymore? Solar, a Vitamin D?
Who else will leave anymore for a miss understood? Semolina, say molina
All about and all, once more, again
All about and all, seedless or even a seed, sprouts
Those days and all long gone! Waiting for the harvesting season!
The soil and the sunlight, the scent
The water and the sunlight, the scent
An yearn to see the neon or the sun
A peasant and the full swing of rejuvenation
Who else will be there roaming on this earth, awakened?
Not dreams- nor tranquility-only a remnance of one among
Sensual, faculty, intellectual.
(first draft- incomplete)
So tonight, I wish you
a quiet heart,
a warm home,
and a soul filled with light.
May this Christmas Eve remind you
how rich we truly are—
not in things,
but in moments,
in people,
in the love we carry
and the love we give.
May this holy night
lay its gentle hand
upon your home,
and may each of you find
your own small moment of peace—
the kind that warms the soul
and restores faith in goodness.
Perhaps it’s the glow of the nativity,
perhaps the smile of someone you love,
perhaps the silence that finally
rests upon your heart.
Whatever it is,
may it fill you completely.
May your Christmas Eve be tender,
and your Christmas brighter than ever.
From my heart to yours—
warmth, peace,
and a wish that every good you’ve given
returns to you doubled.
I bring the cold and skies of gray
You'll shiver at my icy glare
Snowstorms may soon come your way
and freezing temps with no warmth to spare
If you love skiing, I'll give you lots of snow
You can even build a snowman if you choose
With button eyes and a carrot nose
My freezing temps will give you the blues
Sometimes I overstay my time
and impose upon the long awaited spring
Instead of blooms, it'll be freezing climes
As upon the trees my icicles cling
Then I will leave as I must
But I'll return after autumn leaves take flight
Leaving you with one last frosty gust
and return when the time is right
Some people aren’t all that bad
Sometimes they can intrigue
The things they want, the things they know
When you ask em what they think
I’ve lived a lot a life too young
And met some wise old folks
Some fools who beat their chests like drums
And some who sorrow chokes
Each of them are all unique
With their own tale to tell
From yellowed pages with faded ink
To those with ink yet awell.
A cruel man wasnt always cruel
Nor A wise man always wise
But the story told behind these fools
Is told within their eyes
All these people miserable
And beautiful in their ways
Through experience incomprehensible
I hope to one day say
I hope to see you smile the sun
Feel it’s warmth upon your skin
Embrace the good that is to come
Soon as your life begins
Though beaten down and broken
Life has left you in the dust
With trauma left unspoken
You’ve seen the world as rust
So I walk these hollow streets
With a smile on my cheek
Because sometimes all anyone needs
Is someone to stop and speak
Tell them they deserve to smile the sun
Feel it’s warmth upon your skin
Embrace the good that is to come
Soon as your life begins
Life is hard, and life is short
Especially for folks like you and me
When your mental progress report
Is failing everything except philosophy
Just remember that you matter
Thst your trials meant a damn
That even when lost and scattered
That Youre special so you can
One day still smile the sun Feel it’s warmth upon your skin
Embrace the good that is to come
Soon as your life begins
As Winter’s hush drifts down in silvery light
and frosted breath lifts up in frigid air,
the day surrenders early to the night.
The distant silhouettes of tree limbs bare
cast eerie reveries that don’t belong,
their frozen shadows linger everywhere.
I shiver at the thought of night so long
without the April dreams that keep me warm;
I long to hear the notes of Spring’s sweet song.
God give me strength to weather Winter’s storm
and spread some warmth within this frigid womb,
while waiting for this season to transform,
and once again enjoy the Springtime bloom
as jasmine fills the air with sweet perfume.

I'm awed by twilight exploding to dawn
Some a kaleidoscope of colors melting into one another
Others plain and gray
A wondrous start to a day anew
But I've met someone more beautiful than dawn
Watching their eyes awaken and cast their first gaze upon you
puts shame to the sun sliding out from the horizon
Feeling their warmth press against you as they stretch awake warms you through in a way the suns first rays never could
Their sleepy smile directed at you creates a world of color not able to be replicated
The accompanying happy sigh is a chorus more lovely than all of the birds morning melodies
Their beauty is ever changing but as steadfast and reliable as the coming of dawn
Each day they look the same
They always look the same
Each day they are beautiful
"because of you"
I see you with every step I take
the sky of blue the grass of green
its you with each shade of glory
I see you as I look to the far and wide
oceans flow because of you
I hear you with each singing bird
the bells that ring the keys that play
its you with each note and tune
I hear you when voices sound
music plays because of you
I feel you with light of the sun and moon
the warmth that ignites the light that shines
its you with each illuminating star
I feel you as these graces talk to me
these graces are because of you
you touch me more and more
love is an endless blooming garden
these senses are because of you
living within my soul never to fall
my life my light my all

O, elusive muse, mysterious and profound bruise,
you bewitch my soul, never to be found in the way of former use.
In your absence, I am left with bittersweet
caramello pain,
forever longing for your ephemeral archery reigns,
to stick your finger in and frost your tips, lips, hips.
With every plié, a heart skips a beat,
as feelings pirouette upon your rage
and bloodlust and cage.
Each soft tendu, a love story paged,
imbued with passion's fire, never to age.
But doth wrinkle rings around my heart like a chain,
loosely at first.
Then comes your tools of torture,
your sandblaster-twirls deoxyribonucleiy
amidst a dreamscape host given wage,
unfurls, serpentor,
hyour body, an instrument
for efficacies' grand gauge.
Through leaps and bounds, love's whispers
take shape, like an hourglass shaken
to be thrown to the Leviathan sea.
Given over to the carcinogenie of winds,
carrying own lamp of photosins seeding plans.
Your occulant lids, occupancy Inn
unfolding a tale stolen from Wonderland
with narrator mouth agape.
Like a hellmouth opened revealing iron rows
of oscillator teeth, of to then throe.
I know there is no escape, but surrenders
oasiatic retreat of blue snows.
From your sire nyour cover of cape.
Spellbinding me to the elements
like salt in the wound to taste and one to grow.
O, ballerina of love, your steps mesmerize,
evoking metamorphic fertiles,
lilypad touchstone monads of diodes and control pads and padded rooms of the matrixed "mad",
making us crystals of your rites,
constellate consulates of your Medusaic petrify,
metamorphed from pieces of coal-
fitted for pressure, heat of becoming
from your diamond bit drill.
But beneath the surface of t h i s-
frozen-heartless veneer,
y o u r c a r o m i n g d a r k n e s s
come to take me away-
lies a fire, a longing, a blaze yet unquenched
Ignited by the spark of hope,
a steal cable between your wench
the yearning for warmth
worked by passion match.
There eyes an unaided flicker,
Me, the Wicker-man
struggling against your vice grip,
your tangle of betrathed lisp.
I am tied by your poetry,
your visa drip, feminine W I C C A - Beltane slip
of slip.
A bridge too far,
of golden vistas burning,
now, there is no return.
For me, only to find your drowning sea or burn.
The Muffin and the Cupcake
Little miss muffin was resting one day
When a cute little cupcake came looking her way
The gaze he held, was saying one thing
I'm coming over to pull apron string
She blushed an blustered and turned all coy
But couldn’t resist the touch of the boy
Was this the mix she had waited for
Since she had sprung from the old oven door
He ambled over, his eye on her crest
He touched her side to physically test
He needed to see she was not a mirage
For he was battered by beauties barrage
He felt the warmth that swelled from her heart
And swore that day that they’d never part
He said, “My darling, with me will you run
I’ll take you a ride and we will have fun
For you are my muffin and I’m your cupcake
And nothing will sunder the bond that we make”
She took, his word, their lips came to meet
Was there ever before, kisses tasting so sweet
The last I heard, they had run away
And merrily danced in their love so they say
So muffin or cupcake, next time you eat
You may have destroyed, but their love not defeat.
