Savitri
*Savitri, a celestial soul or a mortal being?
Encapsulated in a physical form are you that cascading spring?
Just like the source of life,
just like the squeal of a new born,
immaculate and bright are you an offspring of Aurora**?
In your mother’s womb as you grew,
your mother wud have been overwhelmed in seeing God in her flesh.
Watching and feeling this little miracle grow in her,
a soul inside her yet to see the world.
Awaiting the day to love and to be loved,
waiting eagerly for a little pink finger to hold.
Didn’t she whisper to you,
to sleep peacefully in the warmth of her water?
As she knew for sure about crashing storm outside that was in store for you.
You slept in her peacefully so,
soon enough to discover the taste of your tears.
(*Savitri – One of the greatest actors of South India, Savitri Gemini Ganesan
**Aurora- the Roman mythological goddess of dawn and also the princess in the popular fairy tale Sleeping Beauty.)
