Watch Me Soar
They thought they knew the score But stared in awe as they watched me soar I'm higher than I've ever been And I'm not afraid to burn in sin I paint my body in black stripes As I move away from past gripes And life is just my grand quest To prove that I can be the best Look at how the walls are painted red Written in words that have never been read And I went through so many days Lost in a mind numbing haze Social interaction was a pill But it did next to nothing to fulfill The burning within my heart And it had all fell apart I can't erase this lonely place But I can look at my own face And see more than a blank page And all the signs of age But to rise one truly has to fall And feel like they'll lose it all That is when they will stand strong And prove those who hate wrong And I damn sure know I lost As I considered what it cost Thinking my life was a lost cause And it really did give me pause But all I had to do was hang on tight So I can now stand here and show might No longer with a fragile soul Because I already suffered the toll They thought they knew this heart of mine But I'm here and I'm feeling fine I finally feel the warmth of the sun And I'll be okay when it's all said and done
