**I am a nearly seventy year old mother, grandmother, and great grandmother..I enjoy going to the seashore for vacation..I have always enjoyed picking up seashells and wondered if they all had names..Well, there are over 15,000 different kind of sea creatures that live in those shells and some have not been named..

Was it tuna?

The world in black and blue,
no visible outline, the colors
blur. Headlights bright red,
and the people covered
in smoke as I stand in the back-
alley surrounded by old graffiti
stains and a half eaten tuna fish
sandwich. The alley cats
devour the carcass leaving
the bones and eyes behind.
I look at the eyes and I see
my mother pan frying
batches of leftover
salmon, a once in awhile
treat, then back to smelly
tuna daily. I give my mom
credit, her cooking skills
mask the awful aroma just
enough for me to eat with
ease. I still wonder what
mystery meat I ate back
in high school, looked like
tuna, smelled like beef but
tasted like chicken. I get up
and leave to a corner
bodega shop where they sell
beer and passable pepperoni
pizza for a late night snack.
Then I chill at the coin laundry
shop next door, I should’ve
brought earphones with me.

The Milky Way is full of stars
      Highway 95, full of cars
   Cigarettes are full of tar
Tuna fish comes in a jar

I despise tuna, How ‘bout you
Its smell upsets my stomach too
   Which is nothing new
       ‘cos I hate salmon too

What you are reading is neither inspirational
       Nor is it sensational
   As opposed to being aspirational
It is more like – desperational

   Perhaps needing a manicure
       and, of course, a pedicure
Hell, it’d improve with an old fishing lure
       For frankly, this poem is
          ~ 99 and 44/100ths horse manure

     Critics' Corner:

~ I could smell this one coming. Wolf's usually full of hot gas.

~ A poem that should just shrivel up and die.

~ To compare this to a turd would be to degrade the turd

Premium Member A Cat's Life

In a cat's life.We get a rubber mouse,
a shoe string, or a butterfly to play with.
In a cat's life.We get names like Sylvester,
Felix, Tom And Jerry, Morris, and Garfield.
In a cat's life.We chase hamsters, mice, and
rats, anything loose, with a string attached.
In a cat's life.We like a big bowl of warm milk.
Crunchy cat food nuggets. All filled with love.
We like tuna oil, and tuna fish, and goldfish.
Straight from the living room fish tank.In a
cat's life.We like to curl up next to our master,
like a fluffy pillow, weeping willow on a sofa
bed.In a cat's life.We take off our mittens and
booties. As we leave our paw prints in the
muddy soil.In a cat's life.

Summers of '80

I remember:
Our red dodge with a hood

Where we would camp in back
With a box of cereal - Cheerios
My little arm all the way'n
Eating little round o's
With small chubby fingers

The truck reminiscent
of my childhood in the '80s

Parked in a camping spot
With all our stuff in tow
Stretching our legs outside
Deep breathes in, deep breathes out
Of the lovely countr' air

A small walk to the creek
Where we went through the dam
Down around to the falls

In our bags a small meal
tuna fish 'n' chips with dip
And a jug of Kool-aid

We would laugh we would swim

The sun was happy to
Gleefully shine in our eyes
In the summers of '80

hey man, your words smell like tuna fish
your rhymes are ludicrous
and I have a wish
you on vacation would be my bliss
your shirt is wearing spagetti
did you dine in the serengeti
oh yeah ha ha just call me ever ready
my words will make you sink and weep
I could be part of those boyz backstreet
'cause I got the beat
get off the rapping stage
and get back in your cage
your rhymes have no mustard
they are lackluster
oh yeah they are just clutter
so cheap and flat
and that's a fact
do you need me to make a map
you need to call it a wrap
and take a long swim
while I grin
and drink gin
and you and your poems in the water spin
do you want some oil of olay
best go to bed for the day
maybe pray
until you grow gray
and your poems decay
just quit
if you don't like my wit
just stay in your pit
okay I am done
and really need to run
you know this was just for fun
all those insults I spun
yeh, its just for a competition
and I was on a mission

Premium Member Tuna Fish, Beer and Seed

As a child, men of science warned me.
About the coming of a second ice age.
They flashed pictures of stomping mastodons,
hungry saber-tooth cats.
Giant sloths with enormous claws.
I was all in and took quick action.
I learned how to build an igloo.
By stuffing snow into hollow plastic blocks.
I sharpened the end of dozens of sticks.
To do battle with the giant cats and mastodons.

Now, Bill Nye, Mr. Gore and Hanoi Jane.
Shake a crooked finger
Warn of global warming and biblical flooding.
I'm taking them seriously.
So, I'm stockpiling tuna fish, beer and seed.
And building a tiny ark just for three.
As I'll never have two of everything.
There's only the cat, an olive-eyed dove and me.

Premium Member If I Was a Cat

If I was a cat, I would be a Persian breed, fluffy and fat
And my diamond collar would glitter wherever I'm at
My meow would tell all the birds that I am a queen
And they had better fly off or they’d be my Chow Mein

I’d like to lie in the window seat to bask in the sun
And ignore my owner’s demands, oh what fun
And soon I’d see the red play dot on my beautiful grey fur
She thinks I will chase it, what a bore, I would not stir

I’d cry at the door and scratch and meow loudly too
Until my owner opened it and I'd plan to run through
And head to my neighbor’s house, she’s a sweet lady
I’d meow and pretend to be hungry, I’m so shady

The sweet lady would delightfully open a can of tuna fish
I would rub on her legs and purr, while getting my delicacy wish
And when I am almost done eating my owner would stop by
I would quickly scatter and run home in a blink of an eye

Then I would overhear her ask my neighbor if I am begging again
She would tell her no, she just had a nice visit with a dear friend
I would then be on the window seat, laying on my back
Until my owner approached me with my afternoon catnip snack

Pinch Bandits Roy

OF ROY AND PINCH BANDITS

Claims Roy one day
to have been approached
by an angel of GOD
alleges the said angel
brought him news
news that he would pass to glory
complete with day and time...

Come the day... Roy
arranges meeting with cece..
.. his beloved siz..
Roy unable to confess..to cece..
the truth.. bout his departure
ROY goes to university next..
bids friends goodbye...

Roy goes to a stall
buys daughter five tuna fish cans..
a parting gift from a loving ROY...
Roy boards shuttle..
Roy sits next to lovely..
very lovely ladies....

Roy never one to let a pretty girl
escape untalked... says hello
girl snobs ROY.. Roy knows his end is near
decides to say last prayers..
asks GOD to send someone .. to deliver
the tuna to daughter..and his love regards

ROY is snatched sudden by deep sleep..
waves and waves of it.. ROY surrenders..
zones out.. awoken by a sharp mosquito bite..
..or is it butterfly.. looks everywhere..
lovely girl gives him a weird look..
shuttle conductor gives him a weirder look..

waves and waves of sleep swallow ROY..
Awoken by sharp bites.. many of them....
wakes.. now every ones.. giving sweet Roy..
very weird looks.. Swallowed by waves again..
bites starts... ROY keeps eyes closed.. twitching..

half asleep half awake.. distance laughs
more bites and more bites..twitching..
shuttle has reached.. ROY surprised he..
he still lives.. ROY tries to alight...
legs give way under him..
steadies himself then walks home..

ROY arrived home minus three cans of tuna..
with huge bumps to prove them biting...
after relating to us the story..
every ones burst... with stitches of laugh..
teasing ROY to death..OH... hes just met
the famous pinch bandits... Oh oh oh..

the pinch bandits
pretty girls they are
they way lay celebrities
who are too exhausted to
open their eyes.. pinch them
pinch them and again pinch mm..
and ROY day was finally come..home

Like a Lioness Stalking

My cat sat on the window seat
Tail thumping with a rhythmic beat
Like a lioness stalking meat
A bird to eat A bird to eat

Oh, no you don't, my sweet kitty
That raven is much too gritty
You'd be hurt. Oh, what a pity!
You're too pretty You're too pretty

I'll give you a treat, if you wish
With the flavor of tuna fish
I'm certain you'll find it delish
It's in your dish It's in your dish

She ran, making her 'meow' sound
Straight for the kitchen, she was bound
With lightning speed of a greyhound
Her cat food downed Her cat food downed

I found her later, sound asleep
In peaceful dreams, she slept so deep
or she'd have heard the fledgling's "peep"
Of a bird's cheep Of a bird's cheep
