what to do about Plato of late
the Greeks convinced
and about Pluto
lost planet status
he-haw atmospherics since
lost again when earth's bit brawl is done
say fie to sun and moon
who glaze your suspect skin
born of light
some bummed else
styles back up to air tumbles
traffic stumbles
write poetry
the kind
obscure agrees
always something sticks
as world goes why
unmasked
erasing blue
long after head-lamps cool
corners tangled fools
who think they may get rich
reform in morning phenomes
songs of lovely aches
all for your sake
maybe me too
The sorry state of stars
they dont know where they are
the mice of earth
haggle sparkle verse
the awful beauty breaks
to spell your name
music intimates
the crippled rain
or just wear a funny hat
identity looms
found exactly where
you thought she'd gather
how she longs
each winged gesture
plain or complete
to be anywhere
anyone else
assay
any New York street
a poem
or Heaven's Gate
of ladder games

Believability and Truthfulness
By Franklin Price
10/6/2018
Believability and Truthfulness
Are often not the same
Politicians, very often,
Think they're only just a name
What happened to those good old days,
When a man's word was his bond?
What could it hurt to stretch the truth
From coast to coast and then beyond?
So far, in this century,
Washington has shown the way
When truth does not produce for them
They try believable to say
Lately that's not working
They've stretched them both until they've popped
It's time to tell the truth again
And this playing games is stopped
If you,ve followed their example,
Lied for your party's hope
You have cursed your reputation
Should have your mouth washed out with soap
I believe the politicians
And the truthful words they say
This stanza writ with fingers crossed
And tongue in cheek today
Profane words, poor things, scorned as contraband,
In contrast arraigned with words weighed as sane
That hold a moral firm ground-- for long grand.
Forbidden, they talk to us in words plain
But are powered by voltage of thunder clouds
Which, words that wear civil dress seldom can.
What beauty-- words raw, truthful, not in shrouds,
Honest if rude, can do free from restrain!
Not sure? Try stub your toe and mark your jibe:
Sage decorum nor yet homilies rife,
Nor vague philosophical diatribe,
Nor yet poetic prompt on fleeting life!!
Pain, no child of elegant etiquettes,
Spews words profane-- flood flooding past floodgates.

(alternately titled: tongue in cheek humor
cuz the following hyperbole
from this pencil necked baby boomer
without intent to badmouth,
nor start unfounded rumor,
who chalks, i.e. attributes gobbledygook
to funny bone tumor).
Impossible mission maneuvering around
soiled clothes pile
floor to ceiling humongous mound
terse reply hopefully adequately sound

No need to fret
(while guitar gently weeps),
just talk to who barkeeps
works long late hours, he oversleeps
thus best track him down,
without uttering peeps
please find out if he knows
anybody reliably housekeeps

harkening within outer limits
from twilight zone

in one fell swoop sweeps.
Meanwhile yours truly
tries to remain upbeat
despite being royally tricked
upon pledging his troth
haint cool wedded bliss
heavily perspiring courtesy ultraheat
smellbound by malodorous laundry
necessitating heavy amount
of clorox to pretreat
which I rather drink,
(and thank president Trump)
for sakes Pete!
Though the misses upholds
voluntarily cooking as wifely role indeed
worth commendable attention,
I do concede

Plagiarists can play your eyes all they want
lap up attention praise prize all day long
and I too can play as I like tongue in cheek
write a lightning strike lighting up plight
They can do as they feel
numb
Think how they want
dumb
pass the time with a
rum
or a prayer to the
son
I don’t care for them
as they share
I’ve no emotion spare
to be fair
But I do like to target direct
terrorise with no respect
they take for attention
so I’ll write and I’ll mention
Knowing they've shown off and with so in pride
flaunt and make out this is of their mind
and that person tells more and more tell more
so more compliment kind
See they don’t care for the poet or the poem they stole
but be assured after posting people they know told
people important to them as compliments unfold
they enjoy the attention and respect on the whole.
But talent they haven’t
and karma can harm ya
they cannot prevent
charm armed come at ya
Opening a can of worms
calmly with no concern
yet to have learnt
poet words burn.....
That poem you stole, remember who wrote it,
be aware of the fact you’re poking a poet,
I’ll write rhymes about you expose what you do,
you’ll go from this feeling too one where you vomit,
buggered as truth shows from under the bonnet.
I’d be less embarrassed caught doing a real crime with a reward,
and as it started, more tell more and more know you are a fraud.
The attention you seek
Boomarang back
hit you beak.
You look as you did,
stupid,
I don't care you don't care for me,
as those in your life know you're a phoney.
it's only a write but written by me
sow the seeds and reap what you sow
words are my weapons you numb dumbo
now pack your trunk for the circus and go
play with me plagiarists
play with your wrists
stealing is bliss
while payback's a
Let eyes meet eyes, be it mirror or pond,
On own image mirage-like crazy go,
For, today’s youth has grown to be nigh fond
Of self, lessons of Narcissus or no.
Let the English lexicon celebrate
Words which the Greek epics gave -- a long list:
Mentor is one, Medea--- Odysseus’ mate,
Panic from their god Pan, and Narcissist.
The last, a tale of extreme self-regard.
Today’s wars wage, for, we think but of us,
And scarce the green garden of others guard,
Why? Narcissus loves only Narcissus,
The world is surfeit with the tales of narc,
The rest as empaths whilst passively hark.

Note: ‘The Narcissus’ in two parts I am trying to expand into a full Crown of Sonnets in seven parts, if I can.
Open the drawer you'll see a diary,
A wimpy kid full of anxiety,
Lean frame meek face all I got,
but I strolled blithely.
The first page got my expensive dreams covered,
A trip to the Alps in the shimmery Swiss summer,
then hike the Mont Blanc and write some for her,
sitting on the rocks sipping mild liquor,
tongue-in-cheek, whimsical humor.
On that note please turn over to the next page,
chips n antenna never held my gaze,
too late to pull out I must stay,
I must say,
I might pull this one off,
else my achievements be measured by a length gauge.
A grave predicament I'm stuck in,
maybe I need to do something,
maybe I need to be fronting,
but nothing surprises me anymore,
seeds I sowed shall be reaped come forth.
Page three demands me to rise above obscurity,
scale heights not meant to be,
Rake opulence not meant for me,
As right as rain, I want things to be.
For now, I'll hit the sack with a twinge of guilt,
cause I dreamt of things far ahead of me.
When and if I wake up and see
That life is not but illusion,
World too is no more there for me,
And there’s no more joy under sun.
It is as if all props are out,
Realities on my face stare,
In awful doubt I show my pout,
Where’s life’s thrill if wisdom’s laid bare?
My laugh is lost, lost is life's plot,
Hair bristle up but there's no thrill,
For, when Maya melts, life’s life not,
Grey gets spring’s thrill, grows wintry chill.
Is ignorance the bliss or life’s mirage?
Vague wisdom sits unsure upon life’s hedge.

Note: Continued in Part 2.
The guests have come and gone, now back to the old routine.
We showed them all the tourist spots, partook of local cuisine;
Put many miles on the old sedan and spent a ton of dough!
Sure was nice to see them come, better yet to see them go!
My bedtime is off kilter, they want to stay up and chew the fat.
Their visit even upset the routine of my inscrutable cat!
My spouse jolts me awake nudging me 'neath the table with her toe!
Sure was nice to see them come, better yet to see them go!
Surprise! Surprise! They showed up with their yapping cur.
Consternation reigned when he saw the cat, causing quite a stir!
On the priceless Persian carpet, he let his water freely flow!
Sure was nice to see them come, better yet to see them go!
Come time to pay for luncheon, we each try to out-shuffle,
Who will pick up the tab without causing a frightful scuffle!
Invariably, we end up sharing the total amount we owe.
Sure was nice to see them come, better yet to see them go!
Tho' this was written entirely with my acerbic tongue in cheek,
I love having guests (as long as they stay within a week!).
Tho' some of my habitual modus operandi I must forego,
Sure is nice to have them come, better yet to see them go!
[Gershon recently likened (tongue in cheek) my line
‘My lunch is you’ to some classic movie lines. This
inspired verse one.
Jan recently described a dental dilemma which inspired
me to add a few more verses.]

It isn’t ‘To be or not to be’
And it isn’t ‘Not a drop for me’
My favourite line I’ve ever heard
Is from a film: fun but absurd
As said by a plant who just wants his tea
‘The guy sure looks like plant food to me’
The line is to Seymour who’s lacking in lovers
His true love is Audrey: but she is another’s
He’s been promised riches and romance so sweet
So long as he provides some fresh human meat
It’s how the plant grows so what could he do
That blood craving plant is called Audrey... two
Along comes a dentist who’s mind is askew
His hobby is making things painful for you
His girl is the girl of our hero’s desire
he treats her so bad as to raise Seymour’s ire
Who turns to the plant and he has to agree
‘The guy sure looks like plant food to me’
